Sky Sports Focus

With the Fantasy Premier League community coming under the spotlight just a few hours earlier, it’s now time to cast an eye over the standings in the Sky Sports game, whilst investigating the top bonus points earners and looking forward to tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

The lead at the top of the Scout League was cut over the double Gameweek, with Charles Mouzon’s “Geordie Boys” now just four points head of Chris Tuck’s “Vuvuzela Symphony”. We have a new name in third, as Paul Hennessey’s “Hennessey’s Heroes” fell away to eighth after semi-disastrous Gameweeks. A slew of managers make the most of Paul’s slide, with Simon Davies now occupying a place in our top three – his “Nags Head Rovers” outfit is ten points behind Chris Tuck, with Tony Senior remaining in fourth.

We have five managers in the top 20 overall rankings, with Charles Mouzon sitting in fifth and 42 points behind the top ranked manager in the game. The Scout League remains top of the Private League rankings, with a 24-point lead over our nearest rival.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Forces

Goalkeepers continue to be the at the centre the majority of trades made in the Sky Sports game, with Stoke’s Asmir Begovic party to over 33% of the transfers in made this past week. Further down the rankings, it’s no surprise to see Luis Suarez and Marouane Fellaini continue to attract interest, while Robin Van Persie is still splitting the community – 25% of transfers this week have involved the Dutchman’s arrival in squads, interestingly, however, 21% of transfers out have seen Van Persie sold on: only Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa has suffered more sales since last weekend. Van Persie remains the most popular captain choice going into the weekend, however, 22% of teams currently have the United striker selected as skipper.

This week we’re also taking a look at the bonus points awards so far this season, to perhaps reveal just how these have helped to supplement the returns of some key players.

PlayerNumber of Bonus Awards
Mikel Arteta17
Yaya Toure11
Santi Cazorla11
Joe Allen11
Michael Carrick10
Morgan Schneiderlin9
Mark Noble8

From the table, it’s clear that Mikel Arteta stands alone as a staggering bonus point magnet, earning no less than 34 points from bonus so far this term – exactly half his overall output. The Spaniard is one of those rare players who can earn bonus, both for winning 4+ tackles but also for completing 60+ passes in a match. With 10 points in tackle bonus and 24 from passing, Arteta is fully justifying his 6.2 price tag and 8.6% ownership. City’s Yaya Toure is also a protagonist, earning 22 of his 70 points from bonus to this point – 20 of those points have come from passing bonus, as Toure continues to dominate matches from the City engine room.

At just 6.7, Arsenal’s other Spaniard, Santi Cazorla, is surely a candidate for the bargain of the season in this game – not only has he fired four goals and three assists, but with 22 bonus points and no less than four man of the match awards, Cazorla has boosted his points tally to propel him to the top of the midfielder rankings.

Further down our table, both Morgan Schneiderlin and Mark Noble warrant consideration in the budget bracket. Schneiderlin has scored 18 points from bonus, helping him to a total of 53 points in total, just 3 shy of team-mate Adam Lallana who costs 0.4 more.

The Fantasy Football Club

Merse and Fenners are joined in the studio by no nonsense Hammers legend Julian Dicks, with the egg chasing Ugo Monye also paying visit, perhaps as protection. Tune in to tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club at 10pm tonight on Sky Sports one.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So Enrique dropped, who is everyone getting in for him? I'm thinking Baines...Man City away is a tough game but I think he'll score highly...and at 7.6m he's a bargain currently.

    Hi guys

Got some similar questions to earlier posts but am now in danger of over thinking! Some feedback would be great on team selection:

    Jussi (Bego)
    O'Brien, Mertes, Riise (Gorkss, Cuellar)
    Fellani, Carloza, Bale, Sterling (Michu)
    Tevez, RVP, Berba

So far am leaning towards Michu on the bench though it's a tough choice as all the midfielders are scoring well. Wouldn't feel right benching Tevez either though if he doesn't score he's out next week!

    Any thoughts?

Not end of the world if Enrique did play LB anyway. He grabbed an assist vs Newcastle and he will be the cheapest (I think) Liverpool defender for SOT whm AVL FUL. Staying positive.

Not to dampen your spirit but his assist while at LB was from a long ball inside his own half. As assists go that's lucky enough.

People look a the 11-a-side match in the last training session before the game, and assume that all the first-team players will be on one team (wearing the same bibs), and all the subs etc will be on the other team.

          Doesn't always work, though.

Hey, I was discussing how lucky Silva's two assists were against Villa...it was one of the main reasons i didn't get overly excited as I felt it was a bit of a false dawn.

Silva doesn't usually get lucky assists though...he's around the box so much he naturally gets them. I'm just saying Enrique's required a lot of work by Suarez...it wasn't from being in a good position to assist...if that makes sense.

    a) Baines>Gibbs & Pienaar>Walcott (& work the rest out later)

I still can't get over how 3 liverpool players are after sneaking their way into most people's line ups...

Fair enough Enrique is out of position with decent defence point chances and Sterling was very cheap,

but Suarez scores virtually all of Liverpool's goals,

I went Baines>Enrique this week and have had Sterling since he went £5m

I'm beginning to think Nastasic would have been a much better investment,

I think I am falling into the trap of looking how high up the field the Liverpool lads are playing and starting to daydream of possibilities. Liverpool don't score much!

same here - i couldnt have 3 liverpool players - that would make them sound like there on form team full of goals and clean sheets and on top of the table lol

i got sterling cos he cheap

im taking a punt on Nastasic! lets do thid 😀

this is so true! never put in liverpool players because they are so inconsistant but it seems that brendan might have hit the point he wants now! debating to put in suarez for aguero or enrique for rafael

They have the best fixture run of any team...that's the main reason really.

Sterling most people signed weeks ago...no point getting him at the price he is now.
Suarez is the highest goal scoring player in the league
      Enrique...well he's a defender playing up from isn't he!

Only have one myself but I fully understand the appeal behind the players..

Sterling is just back up for most, me included, who got him for real cheap. Suarez is looking like scoring every game, Enrique is a short term punt/temporary Baines replacement whilst he's (hopefully) OOP. And they have nice fixtures.

I guess he still has the good cleansheet potential.

City, Chelsea and United will tighten up between now and the end of the season. Think I'm gonna somehow try and afford one defender from each.

It may not work out the way I think but apart from Stoke at home I think you're gonna be safer with the big 3 long term. I only have Zabaletta at the moment so not of to the best of starts 🙂

with all this doubt over Enrique's OOPness (or lack thereof) for tomorrow, I might just get Glen Johnson instead

I'll likely keep Enrique for their nice run, regardless now. Maybe he'll go back to OOP in GW16 when Wisdom and Johnson take the full back positions.

    1) Which two to play: Clark (qpr), Demel (CHE), Hughes (TOT) or Gorkss (MUN)?

    2) Who to bench: Sessegnon (nor), Sterling (SOT) or Michu (ars)?

    3) Who to captain: Rooney (rea), Bale (ful), Cazorla (SWA) or Suarez (SOT)?

Currently going for Clark and Demel in defence, benching Michu and captaining Rooney (on gut feeling + differential).

I don't get it why so many people are getting rid of Tevez and Mata, Baines I get because of injury and not producing, but Tevez and Mata will likely both start this weekend and will come strong. If you hate te rotation, sell them after this weekend where they;ll get a total of 25 points together.
