Cesc Fabregas has this evening suffered an injury that saw him replaced after just 14 minutes of the Premier League clash with Stoke.

Details on the injury are sketchy right now but fears are mounting that the Gunners skipper may well have sustained further hamstring problems. The severity is not yet clear and, given Arsenal’s forthcoming fixtures – the Carling Cup Final and the Champions League second leg with Barcelona – we can only hope that his withdrawal was partly precaution. That could well be wishful thinking.

In Fantasy terms the injury is ironic to say the least. Robin Van Persie was ruled out of tonight’s game with his own hamstring injury, a cruel blow for those who captained the Dutchman for Arsenal’s double fixture in gameweek 27. Those who skippered Fabregas going into the gameweek have now suffered a similar fate with the Spaniard returning just 8 points in total.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

afridi has that x factor which makes him worth the gamble imo, especially over razzaq. just going with de villiers then. or are you going to continue with your streak of captaining fast bowlers and go with steyn

I don't want to lose any of my bowlers/all rounders (aside from Ongondo who is so cheap that I can't upgrade to anyone decent) so I have to go with just the one batsmen tomorrow.

JP Duminy (c) is the way forward... He's in cracking form and can contribute in the field/with the ball.

this weekend might see an all time record for total points hits.

Funnily enough, the way this season is going, the people that take 8+ points hits will probabl outscore those that don't take any.

See, I don't think so. I think it's the hardcore on here who are struggling to get a team together, I think many out there will either not notice or not care enough to take a hit, especially as many won't have loaded up on Arse/Brum/Spurs doublers.

Thinking of taking a one week punt on Meireles, then trading him for Cahill next week. I think he has the best chance for a high score this week out of all the other midfielders (besides maybe nani)..

Think i'm going to put nuts, and neck on the line and captain roonpig. What 90% of folks don't seem to realise is that *apparently* giggs is fit, so Rooney will start in he hole again against Wigan, and upfront by himself vs Chelsea. Cue 8 assists against Wigan and 2 points vs Chelsea. (predicting 0-0 in that game). This game vs Marseille has precisely zero bearing on the wigan game, but i'm hoping people in my league think it does.

I never said he was the best thing since sliced bread, i said he wasn't having the worst season of his career and wasn't a major underachiever, as other suggested he was. Captaining any player playing vs Chelsea is a risk. Even your beloved. I'm more worried about Hernandez now starting vs Wigan to give Rooney a rest, but, i'm willing to take the risk.

I really think you have your wires crossed. We never said he was an underachiever it always been he is overated by the press and many fans due to performances against weak opposition. And the comparison that he is among the games top players.

                    Overrated not an underachiever.

that does make sense (you've worried me about nani now). didn't realise the games were all so congested. tail well and truly between my legs.
like you siad i'd think of the chelsea game as just a bonus. if man utd just had wigan you'd be tempted to captain him in that game, but yes i suppose the threat of a rest for chelsea is realistic

To be precise Dbronaldo in my article I said he was underachieving this season by HIS OWN standards, not that he is an underachiever full stop or that he is over-rated (different debate altogether).
Didn't think such tantrums would ensue by something so demonstrably true.

Atilla - ok but that just your own opinion (no offence let me explain 🙂 I mean the Rooney debate around here for last few months by many has been centered around the media, and over inflating of his performances , the messi comparison etc. ie that he is overrated.

There was a great article wrote about 2 weeks ago saying this year Rooney is playing at his normal level. Form is temporary and class is permanent as we know and Rooney last year was an out of the usual performance for him with this year again in line (not entirely) but close to his previous years than last year.

Db - you really should stay out of these things, you bring your own agenda to them, it's just bizarre.

Apple: Yeah i'm worried, but that Fabs © thing was the last straw, there absolutely no chance i'm catching no 1 in my league without pulling lots of risk from now on.

Attila: Now this seems more jovial, you should read these blogs. He's one of the more respected Utd goons on twitter, you might even be following him already:

No offence taken, my little bit was just off what I've seen this season in terms of his overall performances.
Don't want to touch the overrated debate at the moment, far too touchy 🙂

my formula for rooney not being at all ballsy:
the double gameweek is the devil which consumes us all
                    +
man utd only team with a dgw.
                    +
only man utd players people realistically own are nani, rooney, vidic, berbatov and maybe rafael.
= rooney probably about 2nd favourite as a captain choice this week.

I'm guessing the leader in my league will follow that exact train of thought and © nani. My lord, a Rooney hattrick vs Wigan would go down well. Even if it's just a hat trick of assists!

    Huge.

Those people who previously said that Arsenal defenders are bad options deserve a smack.

Wow, that looks pretty. He's an obvious option for me to drop this week but I really don't want to as I want to have him in my team. Considering playing 10 and keeping him.

I have agonised on this all week to take advantage of the DGW, but its too much of a gamble as I can not afford Vidic or Evra. But I like the look of Smalling, might be a great differential if he now gets more play time...

Can you afford Evra? Not sure if Rafael will play both United games - Rafael's hot-headedness (v Spurs) probably the main reason why he sat out v City and he could easily do so v Chelsea, with (the more experienced) O'Shea coming in.

Ya, but with RVP and Fpl he aint worth the cash over Nasri/Walcott.

Not going to captain if RVP plays. Just not many options tempting me this week to replace him i have faith in.

Walcott has got an ankle sprain and will miss the Carling Cup final. Reasonable chance of making the Sunderland game hopefully...

104 - Jack Wilshere tonight became just the 8th player to attempt over 100 passes in a Premier League match this season. Wonderkid.
