Injuries

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that his skipper Cesc Fabregas sustained a hamstring injury in tonight’s 1-0 win over Stoke. The Arsenal boss has stated that Fabregas will be assessed on Thursday, prior to Sunday’s Carling Cup Final with Birmingham.

The fear is that Fabregas has suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury, sustained back in November that kept him sidelined for a number of weeks. Wenger had this to say in his post-match comments…

“It is of course a concern that he is injured but it can happen unfortunately. He was very upset, I am as well, but it is not his fault and it is not my fault, it is part of sport. It’s strange that it happened early in the game but we have to face it.”

Theo Walcott is also a major worry for Wenger. The flying winger was stretchered from the field on 71 minutes tonight. Wenger has confirmed that Walcott has suffered an ankle strain and has already ruled him out of Sunday’s final.

Looking beyond Sunday, Fantasy Managers need to consider the likelihood that Fabregas will play a part in Arsenal’s next league game against Sunderland at the Emirates. That match falls just three days before the second leg of the Champions League tie with Barcelona. It therefore seems very unlikely that Fabregas will be risked against the Black Cats given the apparent fragility of the Arsenal’s skipper’s hamstrings.

With Robin Van Persie also nursing a hamstring problem, there’s every chance that Arsenal could go into the Sunderland fixture without arguably their two key attacking players. Wenger has confirmed that Van Persie’s fitness will be assessed on Friday ahead of Sunday’s final.

Fantasy Managers currently sitting on Fabregas and/or Van Persie are faced with a blank fixture in the forthcoming gameweek and must now make a decision whether to risk benching and holding the Arsenal pair, with the hope that they will play some part in gameweek 29.

Right now we’re dealing only in pure speculation but, it has to be said, the chances of Fabregas and possibly Van Persie facing Sunderland, look fairly remote.

We await more information from Mr Wenger.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Found the team in the top 100 overall with the least transfers of 15. Didn't start to transfer until GW12. Hasn't taken a hit all season either. Used his wildcards in GWs 23 & 27.

    http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=897427

Will need to take a hit to field 11 this week though.

Wow, his team is only worth 102.1 as well, I would normally think that was inhibitive at this stage of the season.

Scored 113 with a 102.1 leaving plenty on the bench.

    OK,

This last few days have made my players get injured and banned. Luckily it's not just me who's in trouble 🙂

I think the free transfer is going to be Fabs > Silva (depending on how long the injury is going to last as we will know today)

The question is, should I take any hits to get 11 fielded?
Adam or VDV is the possible subs... Not sure who to get to beat them in the long run cause I want them back eventually.

    GORDON , Foster
    HUGHES, SIMPSON, VIDIC, COLEMAN, Djourou
NANI (c), YOUNG, SILVA?, vdv, adam
    TEVEZ, ODEMWINGIE, rvp

Morning all, yep I wouldn't worry about a hit or two this week. Most teams will need some surgery this week after injuries and suspensions, including mine). I need to take an 8 point hit to get 11 out... might just play 10 though for 4 point hit I think. I'm similar with bit VDV and adam ... I'd do one of them to cahill for a hit if he's announced fit too... (for dbl next week)

        Agree 100%.

Everyone's taking hits this week and I think a lot of the people who are taking hits to field 8, 9 or 10 this week will come up smelling of roses, while those who can field 11 with no hits will be 'rewarded' by the fantasy gods with more dismal low scores.

This season managers who have been prudent and tried to manage their teams sensibly have been repeatedly kicked in the nads, gameweek after gameweek.

Why will GW28 be any different?

could be a great differential but so hard to pick Fergies midfield.... too much of a rotation risk for me. I'd love to replace Adam and Walcott this week with cahill and a ManU mid, but too hard to call Maun U mids apart from Nani I think. Could bring in Rooney but don't want to loose RVP for upcoming fixtures either...

Its a tough one, its the only viable way i can get more United coverage becasuse i have none in defense but i can get four defenders out so i'm not touching that.

I guess Fletcher and Nani will play both but i don't think Fletcher is gonig to offer any real returns, Giggs is the i'm seriously looking at...

I'm decided on losing Fabs and Adam i think, upfront this week i can get away with Tevez and Odem but my midfield looks a joke.

Now who to bring in? Silva? Cahill if fit?

I'm wondering if any Uinted midfielder apart Nani would offer anything?

Exactly my situation. I'm considering Young, Cahill, Arteta (as a real punt), Silva (although he doesn't seem to claim the FPL points as much as I would like from an 8.5 player).

Booting Fabs and Adam out (which costs me zip) leaves me with only 10 players so also considering a hit.

Silva i can't decide over because having Teverz i don't know if the double up on City will pay, Cahill i would get if i knew he was fit but Arteta tempts me if he is not.

These are tough decisions this week!

    Hi guys,

    like everyone else, injuries and suspensions have hit hard. I'm strongly cosnidering using my 2nd wildcard. My current team is;

    Foster / Robinson

    Coleman / Huth / Kelly / Walker / D Murphy

    Fabregas / Silva / Adam / Brunt / Nani

Torres / Bent / van Persie

The players I'd look to get rid of are Torres, Brunt, Adam, Fabregas and Murphy. Maybe even rvp too.

I'll go for tevez instead of torres. I'm really not sure who to put in my 3 midfield spots or defense.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks

Think there will be a lot of hits this week, took one last gwk and it paid off (Szczesny) but not so sure about this week, what do ppl think of VDV -> Meireles and RVP->Tevez for a hit? Would lose .3 on RVP and .4 on VDV, seems a bit desperate to me...

VDV will be back next week... 0.4 is a lot to lose.

You only need to make 1 sub to field 11.... Maybe just RVP to Tevez...

Currently only able to field 9 but am torn over who to ship out. I dont wanna get rid of VDV as Im sure he will come back strong next gw. I dont wanna get rid of Adam as I will lose out 0.5

My team is linked if anyone can be bothered to have a look..

    Thinking of:

    Walcott > Cahill
    RVP > Berbs/Rooney

I can then get RVP back on my free next week....

mornin. GW27 over yet? Christ I was hoping i could hit triple digits for the first time this season. Going into tuesday still had VDV, RVP(C), and fabs to rack up the points. oops. a green arrow is a green arrow. already made transfers like a noob for this GW.

    Myhill

    Huth/Coleman/Kelly/Simpson

    Nani(c)/Cahill/Brunt

    Rooney/Berbatov/Tevez

    (Szczesny/VDV/Adam/Carr)

whos a good mid at 5.8 or less? any worth a hit? have 3.4 in bank but that is enough to upgrade brunt to nasri and either rooney or berbs to rvp if healthy for GW29, so it would be a swap for adam to cover any of my starters who wind up not playing (Cahill).
is this squad pretty solid considering all the blanks and ive taken no hits?

I think I agree, just some ManU coverage at the back is needed imo. Vidic could be worth the pennies.

Getting rid of Fabregas so have some money to splash. If he is out for a number of weeks, nasri is a must as he is coming back to fitness.

Looking at Liverpool this week, but dont know If I can trust them.

that FFS H2H is so bl**dy difficult to get out of. I was on holiday a few years back when they got set up so missed the main leagues. Finished 749th overall that year which was only good enough for about 50th in the league... This year am ranked 42nd overall and only 26th in FFS H2H reserve league. Will be funny if I can get my overall ranking above my FFS H2H reserve league rank 🙂

Aah, so your "valetwithcash". I had a look at the league this morning and noticed you are one of the few teams further down with a 1600Pts+ score.

You just need to get those victories coming and you will rocket up the league.

I lost 1 or 2 games by 1 pts(Wipes tears from his eyes thinking of the Bale assist awarded) and that has not helped me.

We are all in the same boat though, with the top teams drawing 1 or 2 games.

It's really tough to get higher than where we are though. These teams not making transfers are very dangerous in the h2h's.

Don't just look at it from a 'one week' viewpoint.
Van der saar will tie up way too much money.
If you don't get a keeper and Foster gets injured then you will be in a worse boat. Get Begovich and be done with it.
Having a choice of keepers SHOULD enable you to get at least one or two 'better' scores in the remaining 11 weeks.

No, van de Saar is the right move. You will then have two keepers with reasonable chances of clean sheets 'til the end of the season. Unless the net worth of your team is less than 105, you will not suffer financially ...

I'm tempted by Stockdale to VDS too ... or RVP to Rooney... but don't really want to loose RVP and need a keeper this week

I didn't want to load up on SA as they haven't got another game for ages... but yes, I should have got Amla or someone. Hoping now that Roach rips through Smith / Amla / Kallis in particular. Wishful thinking 😀

Thats the worst line of thinking in my experience. "Must come good" should have a basis other than gut feelings. Look at his stats - heatmap, average position, shots on goal, %age passes etc. to arrive complement your gut feel
