Aaron Ramsey is expected to shake off a thigh complaint in time for Arsenal’s trip to Swansea. Steve Bruce reveals Robbie Brady is nursing a hernia problem. Danny Rose is likely to return for Tottenham, West Brom have concerns up front as they head to Old Trafford, Bryan Ruiz requires a late fitness test ahead of Fulham’s clash with Cardiff, while Palace welcome back Joel Ward but lose Damien Delaney for the trip to Southampton:

Arsene Wenger had plenty midfield issue to discuss in this morning’s press conference. The Gunners boss has revealed Theo Walcott is “realistically five weeks away” from a return to the first-team fold, though Santi Cazorla could be back after the international break. Wenger also revealed both Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey will be assessed prior to tomorrow’s trip to Swansea – Flamini has “a small shoulder problem”, while Ramsey, according to his manager, “has a little thigh problem but should be alright”. While the Ramsey prognosis seems positive, it is, nonethleless the 730,000+ Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers who have drafted the Welshman in over the last forthnight.

Having recently lost James Chester and Robert Koren for up to two months through injury, Hull boss Steve Bruce has admitted he is monitoring Robbie Brady’s condition, with the winger suffering from a hernia problem. At present, Bruce remains positive over Brady’s availability and is still uncertain whether the former United man will need to go under the knife to resolve the issue:

“Robbie has a problem that will obviously need to be sorted out sooner or later. We shall continue to monitor him and see how he goes and, at this stage, it is touch and go whether or not he will need an operation. The last thing you need after just coming up from the Championship is injuries to key players – and we have already got two key men ruled out for lengthy spells. Losing these lads is a big blow, but now we have just got to get on with it and hope we don’t have any more bad luck on the injury front.”

The Baggies have worries over a couple of forwards for their trip to Old Trafford this weekend. Nicolas Anelka and Victor Anichebe are both uncertain to feature against the champions – Steve Clarke could be set to field Shane Long as the lone forward if he retains the 4-2-3-1 system that proved so successful against Sunderland last weekend. Chris Brunt remains sidelined with a groin injury, though, with Scott Sinclair likely to benefit with another start on the left.

Andre Villas-Boas is confient of welcoming back Danny Rose to the Tottenham fold for tomorrow lunchtime’s clash against Chelsea at the Lane. The left-back has missed the last two games in all competitions with a toe problem but according to his manager:

“For Danny, there is a 90 per cent chance that he will make the game, so that gives us options down that flank.”

Rose should wrestle the starting role from Kyle Naughton, though Villas-Boas still has doubts over Younes Kaboul’s availability due to a thigh problem. Michael Dawson is set to continue in central defence, though Vlad Chiriches made his debut in the midweek cup win at Villa and offers an alternative.

Paul Lambert has a number of concerns as Villa prepare for the visit of City. The midlands club are, of course, without Christian Benteke for Saturday’s home clash with Manuel Pellegrini’s men but Lambert revealed the Belgian isn’t the only player he could be missing. Ashley Westwood remains a real doubt with the thigh problem that kept him out of last week’s win at Norwich while Gabby Agbonlahor, Antonio Luna, Fabian Delph and Ciaran Clark all picked up problems in the Canaries win and were omitted from the side that lost to Spurs in the cup earlier this week. The Villa boss remains optimistic, however, that the latter quartet will be ready in time and was also positive on a quicker-than-expected return for Benteke, going on to say:

“He is doing great and I think he will be back quicker. He is doing really fine now and seems a lot happier within himself. We just have to wait and see. We’ve got two games before the international break. The international break has probably come at the right time for him and for us and he is doing great at the minute. The worst fear was that he was going to be out for considerable time but the way he is progressing, I think everybody is pretty happy.”

Crystal Palace will be without centre-half Damien Delaney for tomorrow’s trip to Southampton. The defender was subbed off with an ankle injury in last week’s home defeat by Swansea and was initially expected to be facing a long spell on the sidelines but Ian Holloway suggested he has “half a chance” of making next week’s trip to Liverpool. Joel Ward is back for the Eagles, though, and will return at right-back, allowing Adrian Mariappa to move inside and partner Danny Gabbidon at centre-half.

Martin Jol could be set to welcome back Aaron Hughes and Bryan Ruiz to the Fulham fold this weekend. The Cottagers boss explained yesterday:

“Aaron will join us tomorrow and he will do a fitness test. Bryan is the same – I think he could be involved but we are not 100 per cent certain yet because he hasn’t trained with me, so he will join us on Friday.”

Fulham will be without Maarten Stekelenburg, Matthew Briggs and Ashkan Dejagah once again, though, with David Stockdale again benefitting from the Dutchman’s shoulder injury absence.

Moderators going a little power crazy here. Perhaps the forum heavyweight culture is getting out of control?

Someone asked to recommend benching 2 from 5 defenders. I recommended 2 defenders with no inflammatory remarks and it was removed. Perhaps I should report posts I don't agree with, it seems to work.

Since when was an opinion on player selection reason for censure?

It was deleted because in our opinion you were offering deliberately bad advice. Telling someone to bench Wilson when Stoke have just about the plummiest fixture imaginable is in our opinion deliberately misleading. Apologies if it was down to your inexperience though.

Dont mind the repost, need your opinions 🙂

    The better option?

    A) Mignolet + Boruc + Walker + Nasri

    B) Marshall + Boruc + Baines + Oscar/Nasri ( with no option of upgrading Nasri to Oscar in the coming weeks)

    The rest of defense\ Midfield

    Wilson, Turner, Clyne

Michu, Ozil , Barkley, R. Morrison

Although for option B, if I swapped Rosenior with Wlson, it would allow me to upgrade Nasri to Oscar in the future. But it would leave me with a back 3 that I will play week in week out without any rotation.

    Thanks

He has an ongoing injury involving a hernia that may or may not need an operation. It's more than possible this hernia could be aggravated in training, during the game, or it is decided it is too risky to play him until this operation.
He is an injury risk and not a certain starter.

Please let this be the week that AVB sees sense and starts Lamela.

I'm soaking up the value drops at the moment, as when he gets starts I'm sure he'll do well. But there's only so long I can wait.

The stage is set, big game, he needs his biggest players. Townsend is alright but he's pretty far from Lamela. I think he'll start, home debut from start. For what it's worth I think he'll be an excellent prospect soon enough.

Yeah. Funny thing is, my logic at getting him over Eriksen on the WC was that if he explodes and I've gone Eriksen, then its going to be tough to get him in. In hindsight, it would have been better to have gone Eriksen and put the cash away, but thems the breaks.

Just hoping to get rewarded for a bit of patience. I need something to go right for me this season!

So here is the always captain vs Palace strategy.

I have noticed that picking your captain when they have played Palace would have proved very fruitful.

Here is a list of the scores by the Palace opponent's biggest attacking threat.

Please note this is not Palace opponent's biggest scorer but the score of their highest attacking threat i.e. Most likely captaincy option.

    1. Soldado 9 points
    2 Walters 4 points.
    3 Fletcher 7 points
    4 RVP 6 points/ Rooney 9 points
    5 Michu 11 points
    6 Lambert?????

I think Brady is the best option, but Bruce says he's carrying a hernia currently so may be in for surgery in the near future...

I worry for Cardiff, don't think they've got the steel to stay up despite their win against City. Bruce has been scrapping at the bottom with a few teams.

Whitt is on set pieces, but then again so is Brady

I'd say yes, whether it's worth a hit though depends on your bench. I think I'd rather have Eriksen, Moses -could- lose his spot when Coutinho is back, although I think it's Hendo for the chop.

I agree. Rafael is gonna be a bandwagon soon. Better attacking option than Vidic and Rio.

I'm not sure who's place Wilson is currently occupying in midfield?. Suppose he could be considered a risk if there is someone coming back from injury soon. But he's started every game so far.

A risk in that he is playing unusually OOP. He may be nailed on, we don't know

Rafael has competition, and we have no idea if Moyes likes him or not?

Rafael got 90 minutes against Liverpool. He is United's starting RB. Moyes hasn't said so but starting him against Liverpool was kind of telling. He should hold onto that spot. Nobody else touches him there. Smalling or Jones can do a job but they aren't first choice for that position.

Rafael, competition? From who? It's his spot now that he is fit. Check RedCafe's WBA thread and the lineups.

Wilson has played the full 90 in every game this season. Should be ok IMO.

For some reason I can't comment on the discussion between Breadbin and Jonty above, so here's a new post for it.

I wasn't part of the original conversation where the poster asked for advice on who to bench, but deleting Breadbin's comment seems a little extreme. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the point of a forum is to ask for opinions and get them. It's for the poster to sift through the opinions and choose which ones to accept, but for the moderators to delete a post based on personal opinion seems excessive. Jonty, wouldn't a comment below saying you disagreed with Breadbin's suggestion have been enough?

The forum is made up of players of all levels of experience, and to censor a poster because he picked someone to start who you wouldn't have picked seems plain wrong.

You don't see all the abuse reports we get. Some people make a sport of giving people bad advice deliberately, winding people up deliberately, this was no honest difference of opinion in the way you frame it. Some posts will always need to be removed, and the author of those posts will never agree that their post should be removed, in my experience. Let's move on now please.

The point isn't that he disagreed with the opinion, it's that Breadbin appeared to be deliberately sabotaging the other person for fun by giving advice that he knew to be bad.

That's very different to giving an honest but unpopular opinion and I'd say it crosses a line.

I personally didn't delete it and did make a comment. But I support the decision by another of my colleagues to delete it.

As has been said there is a history to that move which I don't want to go into again. He's moved on from this and is back posting good comments, I have and it would be good if you did too. Sometimes there are a variety of reasons why decisions are made and sometimes we don't want to go into them all here. I appreciate your concerns and if you want to know more about moderation policy please email me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

I am in college. Practicals are paramount and usually compulsory. Could be worth some final year marks and would be handy if you put the work in.

As for lectures, plenty of lecturers are useless. I believe my lecture attendance last year was around 20% but I still finished top of the class. It's about putting in your own work.

The process of the lectures themselves are the thing, for structure and aide-memoires.

The lecturer is only a part of that, good or bad.

    Hey Guys.

    Please help me out.
    This is my current Backline.
    Migs / Daniels
Enrique , Fonte, Terry, Baines. /
    Chester.
    Just did Coleman to Terry.
How do you rate my defense?
Should i immediately take an action
to replace Chester and do you think
    replacing Daniels is necessary?
Not on a WC. No free transfers left.
    Thanks in advance.

One step at a time. As you can field a competent back line, I'd worry about Chester later, and then Daniels.
