Everton’s home clash with Newcastle this evening draws the line under another Gameweek. Roberto Martinez’ men look to extend the last unbeaten record in the Premier League and clinch a victory that would take them into fourth spot, while the Magpies are desperate to bounce back from last weekend’s home defeat at the hands of Hull:

The team news is in and is as follows…

Roberto Martinez hands James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku their first starts since joining up on Merseyside on transfer deadline day. Steven Naismith and Nikica Jelavic are the men to make way – McCarthy will slot in alongside Gareth Barry and Ross Barkley in the central midfield three, while Leon Osman – who has recovered from a groin problem – is expected to move to the flank.

For the visitors, Alan Pardew makes a couple of alterations from the side that lost to the Tigers, Yohan Cabaye is on the bench after sustaining a groin problem last time out, while Papiss Cisse makes way for Yoan Gouffran up top.

Our Dugout Discussion is now open to cover your real-time chatter requirements right up to the final whistle at Goodison later this evening.

Before you ejaculate your hard earned FT all over Lukaku's dreadlocks look back to how last week's must haves performed this week:

    Baines LW = (16) TW = 0
    Oscar LW = (11) TW = 2
    Ozil LW = (14) TW = 2
    Michu LW = (11) TW = 2
    Aguero LW - (14) TW = 0

I agree completely but as a United fan I'm really embarrassed to say this but: was he really THAT good? By "THAT" I don't mean as in was he great? Of course he was great. I mean was he really up to all those quotes, like seriously feels surreal always reading those quotes. I'm 20 so admittedly missed out on a lot of the best parts of his career...including the treble. But to me I'd rate Pirlo nowadays over Scholes. Even if he got dismantled in the final, he was absolutely bloody fantastically amazing there. Or is Scholes this revered because he is consistently as great as he was in recent years?

    @Bemba
I'm really not being a hater. Lukaku is a great player and I want to get him after next week though.

City only conceded 1 goal at home vs ManU....and yes we played poorly against Hull and could have conceded a couple. But that was when Kompany was out. (sidenote: Kompany is Belgium, maybe he'll be able to handle Lukaku easily from knowing how he plays from int'l games and such idk)

I mean get Lukaku if you want, but it is a slight gamble, buying him a week later at 7.8 is a fair trade off. He could very well score at the Etihad, but I'd just play it safe, thats all...not trying to cause doubt in the realms lol

Who's the best Barfa replacement then if he is injured?

The ones I am thinking of are...

    Barkley
    Paulinho
    Siggy

I liked the look of Barkley tonight.

But for the fixtures, someone from Spurs I think. (And you have Lukaka)

Strange, I am leaning towards Paulinho.

Nah but was very poor, probably blamed for that lukaku goal with howard assist.
