To celebrate the return of gameweek action, I decided to have a little fun with our partnership with Paddy Power and our regular Scout Picks selection and attempt to put our “money where our mouth isâ€. The hypothesis behind the “Fantasy Flutter†is simple – take a tenner and spread it over some bets influenced by the Scout Picks and see what’s left in the kitty once the dust settles.

Starting at the back, I’ve taken the gamble to include City’s Aleksandar Kolarov despite concerns over his chances of claiming a clean sheet, so let’s at least back his attacking credentials. Paddy has set us up with some “Specials†here and are offering 5/1 (6.00) on the Serb scoring anytime, with 14/1 (15.0) on him notching from a direct from a free-kick. We’ll take some of that action, although let’s not go mad – we’ll put a quid on each.

I’m pretty confident about Fulham’s chances against Blackpool and although Clint Dempsey is set to remain in midfield, he remains a major goal threat and could find some joy against Ian Holloway’s obliging rearguard. He has short odds on anytime goalscorer at 11/10 (2.10), so we’ll take advantage of some more Paddy specials and back him for first goal at 9/2 (5.50). Dempsey has scored first six times this season so we’ll show some confidence on this one and bung £4 Paddy’s way.

With Samir Nasri in our Scout Picks midfield, he gets backed for returns against Blackburn. He’s strongly fancied for anytime scorer at “evens” but we’ll take that given that the Frenchman is also party to Paddy’s Money Back Special. If scores the last goal of this game, Paddy will refund our bet. That seems fair enough, so let’s chuck another £2 on this one. Paddy has some more specials on Nasri right here if you fancy something a little different.

Finally let’s put what’s left of our tenner on some cheeky multiples. We’ve got our usual Clean Sheet Accumulator of course, with Paddy offering 9/1 (10.0) on shutouts for Arsenal (vs BLA), Man City (vs SUN) and Everton (vs AVL) – we’ll put a quid on that just for the hell of it. Our final slice of the pot can go on a double – we will back Frank Lampard and Luis Suarez to both notch away from home at Stoke and West Brom respectively – we’re lay down our last quid on that one, with £6.50 coming our way if that comes in.

We’ll revisit our “Fantasy Flutter†once the gameweek has passed, while Paddy’s very latest odds on the gameweek will arrive tomorrow morning in “Paddy Saysâ€.

If you want to have a couple of punts of your own, a reminder that Paddy Power is still offering £20 of bets for free for those who sign-up and bet a tenner. Click here to get involved.

This offer is only available to those aged 18 and over and is subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      You're kidding, right?

Your team is what I want after four more transfers and your rank is what I'd be pleased with, ever.

Frankly, I'd sit on that team. Good job to you.

Our teams are remarkably similar. Assuming we have a clue at all, I'd do Djourou to Walker or Bardsley. Love your input coming back.

I don't see the Bardsley love, Bramble's cheaper I don't see Bardsley scoring another goal unless I transfer him in and put him on my bench...

Really good point. I always try to bring in the cheapest starter on a defensive team with fixtures (that I trust to keep the occasional clean sheet). Titf*uck is the call.

Whats not to fancy! Bench him against Arsenal. Then he has 3 very nice home games. He's already scored against 2 of the teams and didn't play against the other. He then has Tottenham who he's also scored against, and at 4.4, ASDA PRICE!

    Harper
    Kolarov Carr Coleman
    Nani Adam Young Lennon
    Tevez Rooney RVP

    subs: Szczesny, Barton, Huth, Olsson

Or if not any changes i should be looking at? Only £0.4m in tha bank so options severely limited unless i dump Tevez and spend 4 points.

Tevez & Barton > Wellbeck & Fabregas is an option but like i said above it seems foolish. Think i'm gonna hold fire and hope Fabregas doesn't repeat last seasons epic performance

Id play barton ahead of lennon and id play huth ahead of kolarov. Id fancy huth getting a goal this gameweek and we all know that mancini seems happy to drop kolarov at any random unexpected time and lennon is a frustrating player to own in fpl terms in my opinion so id just stick with barton because of his setpieces and the fact that alot of newcastles play comes through barton

Can't see Newcastle scoring myself. Huth is a tough one, i know what you mean and i wouldn't be surprised at all to see him cause Chelsea problems but i'm definitely playing Kolarov. Huth in for Lennon though is an option. He is definitely a "frustrating player to own in fpl terms"!!!

Did crazy transfers, got Lampard, Luiz and Carroll for Young, Djourou and Rooney.

Time of the season to risk it imo! 🙂

            Not bad 🙂

Got RVP in for Saha myself (but thanks to Saha I had to do Kelly --> Walker to fund it)

Sorting my defense out for 12 points next week, then Lamps in for 8 afterwards!

As you say, time to take risks 😉

Ok guys, I'm looking at taking a 4 point hit in each of the next 2 GW's to give me this team for the run-in. Any holes in it?

    Foster/Mignolet
    Luiz/Coleman/Walker/Huth/Simpson
Nani, Lampard, VDV, Nasri, A Young
    RVP, Suarez, Beckford

    Opinions, please!

I chose Begovic over Mignolet and then bramble over huth
      otherwise exact same back 7

adam instead of young for me

suarez fixtures means hes not worth the price

      welbeck over beckford

      but very nice otherwise

I didnt give much reasoning for my random lines there, so fairplay for understanding 😀

its all a gamble at this stage anyway!

id love to risk suarez, if he was just a little cheaper i would too, but for a little more he could be a tevez or a rooney and thats a different class concerning fixtures and what each team is playing for etc etc

Latest scout tweet suggests redknapp will sub vdv to keep him injury free. I may gamble on walcott in 4 vdv in that case. Bonkers?

I wouldn't do it. VDV always dies off in the last half hour anyway and 60 odd mins is plenty of time for him to get big scores considering his role in the team and fixtures. Walcott hasn't even played yet, he's also very unlikely to get full games atm and has to compete with nasri/arshavin.

              tough, tough,

i always mess up FF around this time of the year , cos i back players playing against shit teams like wolves,

              so i say barton

but inevitably, wolves will be fighting to stay up and probably get a shock result.

still tho, logic says barton for me

but i dunno looking at zigics stats hes not exactly off form...tough

    Any help gratefully received:

Top of my mini league by 40. Teams in 2nd, 3rd and 4th all have van Persie, and presumably some of them will captain him. I have Tevez. Can do a straight swap to cover it, but it'll cost me 4 points.

So, Tevez to RVP? Or stick?
