Enthused by last week’s “Fantasy Flutter” haul thanks to the magnificent brace from Scout Pick Daniel Sturridge, it’s time to darken Paddy Power’s door once again, brandishing a freshly earned tenner with an unmistakable air of smugness about us. Who says the bookies always win?

So with Sturridge coming in for us last weekend, we’d be mad not to look for a similar bet and back a couple of strikers. Everton’s Jermaine Beckford and West Ham’s Demba Ba are names that have been hovering around our Scout Pick reckoning all week, so we went to Paddy to fetch some exclusive specials on that front pairing.

We can get odds of 8/1 on Beckford to fire a brace against Blackburn at Goodison this weekend, while Ba is at 9/1 to inflict similar damage to Villa’s defence. We’ll dip into both of those with a quid on each.

Robin Van Persie is of course the other striker in our Scout Picks this week – that was pretty inevitable given his double fixture against Liverpool and Spurs in the gameweek. While the Dutchman is at short odds to score in those games, we went to Paddy for a double gameweek combination. They’ve come back with odds of 9/2 on Van Persie to score anytime against both Liverpool and Spurs. Such is his strike rate this season, we will confidently slap down another two quid on that one.

While we’re showing confidence in that trio strikers, we’ve happily turned out backs on the Fantasy prospects of Fernando Torres, despite the double fixture for Chelsea within the gameweek. What chance of El Nino drawing a blank against both West Brom and Birmingham we asked? Paddy came back with 5/4 on another couple of blanks for Chelsea’s £50 million man – that might be worth a couple of quid for giggles, but we’ve got other targets in mind for our remaining funds.

We switch our sights to the Scout Picks midfield and, while we’ve backed Van Persie to score in both the gameweek 33 fixtures, what price Cesc Fabregas to do the same? Paddy have handed us 12/1 on the Gunners skipper to notch in those games – we’ll have another tentative punt on that.

Charlie Adam is alongside the Arsenal man in our Scout Picks midfield and will surely be a key threat to Wigan in a must win encounter for both sides at Bloomfield Road. Paddy are offering 5/1 on Adam to notch from the spot in that game, with 5/2 on a goal from open play. We will take those odds on a penalty kick given what’s at stake against the Latics.

Our final midfield flutter lands at the feet of Birmingham’s double gameweek prospect Craig Gardner. Joint top scorer with Nikola Zigic on 8 goals this term and likely to be lining up spot-kicks, Gardner looks a very decent option. Paddy have come up with 10/3 on an anytime goal against Sunderland – we’ll slap our biggest stake on this one – £3 goes the way of Gardner to score this weekend in our “Flutter of the Week.”

As always, our final bet goes on our Clean Sheet Accumulator. With just a solitary pound remaining, it goes on shutouts for Everton (vs Blackburn), Birmingham (vs Sunderland) and Chelsea (vs West Brom) this weekend. If you want to back your Chelsea defensive acquisition individually, Paddy are also offering 11/4 on Carlo Ancelotti’s side to claim two clean sheets over the gameweek.

That’s our tenner spent once again then – thrown in Paddy’s direction with a certain swagger after last week’s victory. Fetch profit again this week and we even might let Granville “go large” with his drive thru. Good luck to all our fellow flutterers for the weekend.

A reminder that Paddy Power are still offering £20 of bets for free for those who sign-up and bet a tenner. Click here to get involved.

This offer is only available to those aged 18 and over and is subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    My views...:

a)Fair chance now (I've held onto him so will play him).
b)40% chance (and I have him) - nearing fitness again but feel Moyes will stick with a "winning team"
    c) Kolarov out definitely. 1 Chelsea defender is enough.
    d) Fabs. Walcott is a rotational risk but has the potential to outscore Nasri. I wouldn't have either.
    e) Roger Johnson (or Ridgewell).

Very decent. Don't see a Brum goalie & defender working out myself.

You may also want to think about re-ordering that subs bench - Barton ahead of Walker? Zigic unlikely to feature prominently so not sure on the merits of having him 1st sub - you may get single-figure minutes out of him.

you're right, but then downgrading a defender to Djourou will help you upgrade someone like Zigic to Zamora (in my case) or maybe Barton to another DGW player next week. If you take a hit for a defender it has to be now.

just to get an extra dgw player in a week when Nani is likely to be rested, with CL games the 2 week after this Nani could well be rested for the next few Prem games or even only play 60 mins. The return of Valencia and Park although not as good as nani have taken the 'must have' aspect off nani purely because of rotation.

I've got both and going with Lamps, just. Although RVP's been more consistent, he's got tougher fixtures. Plus, if I don't captain Lampard this week - a double with WBA and Brum - I never will.

Stick with Nasri but Walcott could still do some damage as a sub..

    current team for gw 33

    Al habsi
    luiz/bardsley/carr(jones,kelly)
    vdv/nasri/young/nani (barton)
    torres/rvp/rooney

    already done tevez -> roo

anything worth a 4 point hit? maybe bring adam in for vdv?

I'd stick with VDV - if I was going to transfer him out it would be for Adam. I fancy Wigan to get a result tomorrow by the way.

    Current lineup:

    Foster
    Luiz/Carr/Djourou
    Nani/VDV/Fabregas/Lampard
    RVP/Zigic/Suarez

    Bench: Begovic/Barton/Walker/Coleman

    So my dilemma is:

VDV OUT and Adam IN (gving me funds for next week). TPFL has VDV dropping tonight - could make the Adam IN transfer more appealing.

    or

Coleman OUT > Shawcross IN and Barton OUT > Adam IN (giving me a DGW'er)

    opinions?

Sprry to post again, but such a busy forum tonight it's got overlooked....

Is it worth Tevez > Anelka (benching Barton) for 4 pts?

Get rid of Tevez but not for Anelka - Drogba, Rooney, Beckford on the shortlist as replacements.

Ihave RVp & beckford already and can't afford Drogba or Rooney without 8 point hit

Hmm...that's a tough one. Newcastle at home scores like mad and ManU on the road will concede (and Barton is likely to factor in that scoring), but it is likely that Anelka over the course of two game will factor in as well. I guess the question really is whether or not Anelka's contribution will be a goal or assist better over two games than Barton over one.

Wow. I'd say Anelka, but not with much conviction at all...

Thanks the the extensive reply. Still undecided.

Might wait til tomorrow night and do Tevez to Sturridge for DGW but before the drop of Tevez to 11.4

    Foster
    Luiz Ridgewell Carr
    Adam Nasri VDV Downing
    RVP Torres Rooney

How am I looking? Bench is Nolan, Perch, and Smalling.

Does anyone think I need to make a subs-they would be for a hit.

    Any advice welcome....

Torres is the only one who may suffer reduced gametime out of that lot, so I'd stick.
