Latest News: Ben White (hamstring), Kai Havertz (knee), Max Dowman (ankle) and Cristhian Mosquera (ankle) remain out, while it sounds like Gabriel Magalhaes (knee) isn't quite ready to return, given that he's "in the last stages" of rehab - but it wouldn't be the first time that Mikel Arteta has played the slippery eel in his pre-match presser. There is one bit of team news we do know: Riccardo Calafiori’s yellow card suspension is over, so he'll likely come in for Gameweek 16 starter White, with everyone else in defence shuffling one position to the right to accommodate him. Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard, who were probably only out of the team in the first place due to accumulated minutes and injury, will fancy their chances of recalls after poor displays from (and early withdrawals for) Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Martinelli last weekend, while could Mikel Merino or even Gabriel Jesus get the nod up top after Viktor Gyokeres turned in another non-performance in Gameweek 16? Merino's aerial prowess might indeed be useful against Everton at both ends of the field.

Latest News: Pau Torres (calf), Tyrone Mings (hamstring) and Ross Barkley (knee) remain out for Aston Villa, while Harvey Elliott has been struggling with illness this week, not that he’d be expected to feature anyway. Jadon Sancho is ineligible to face his parent club, too. Unai Emery hopes to have Emiliano Martinez (back) fit for Sunday’s home encounter with Manchester United, however, saying on Friday that he is “progressing well” and “feeling much better”. A decision will be made on his involvement on Saturday. Villa have won nine matches in a row in all competitions so changes will likely be kept to a minimum. The most significant decision for Emery is likely to be at left-back, where Ian Maatsen has impressed recently, seemingly edging ahead of Lucas Digne in the pecking order. Another potential alteration could see Emiliano Buendia start, particularly if a more attacking approach is preferred on home turf. In that scenario, Youri Tielemans would likely replace Amadou Onana in central midfield, freeing up a spot for Buendia further forward. With Pau unavailable, expect Victor Lindelof to continue at the back. As for Evann Guessand, he was a late addition to Ivory Coast’s AFCON squad on Friday, with local press suggesting he will miss Gameweek 17.

Latest News: Andoni Iraola has confirmed that midfielder Tyler Adams has torn his medial collateral ligament, which will keep him out for 2-3 months. Adams joins Veljko Milosavljevic (knee) and Ben Gannon-Doak (hamstring) on the sidelines, while there's only an outside chance of seeing Ryan Christie (hamstring) after his recent return to training. Lewis Cook’s three-match ban is over, at least, and he's the most natural option in the engine room to fill in for Adams. Does Iraola go bolder at home to Burnley, however, perhaps playing Marcus Tavernier deeper alongside Alex Scott and making room for another attacker further forward? That'd be one way of getting David Brooks or Eli Kroupi in the side; the latter played alongside Evanilson in the match against West Ham United last month. Adam Smith and Alex Jimenez have both started the last two games, with the latter further up the flank, but two right-backs seems like overkill against the Clarets, so expect one to drop out.

Latest News: As we feared might be the case due to the short turnaround between the midweek EFL Cup tie and the pre-match presser, Keith Andrews couldn’t tell us much more about the likelihood of Igor Thiago being fit for Gameweek 17. The Brazilian striker and Jordan Henderson both missed the loss to Manchester City on Wednesday with “knocks”, with Andrews saying at the time that the pair were “not far off”. Bearing in mind that neither player has started any midweek game in league or cup this season, with Andrews managing their minutes, and the suspicion is that the Brentford boss sacrificed the defeat at the Etihad in order to have a first-choice XI out at Wolves. Elsewhere in Brentford team news, Kevin Schade is available again after suspension, Dango Ouattara and Frank Onyeka have left for the Africa Cup of Nations, and long-term absentees Josh Dasilva (knee), Fábio Carvalho (knee) and Antoni Milambo (knee) are still unavailable. Reiss Nelson (knock) shouldn’t be too far away; the games against Leeds United last Sunday and City on Wednesday came too soon but it sounds like he's close. Expect Andrews to freshen up his side beyond the possible/probable starts for Thiago and Henderson, with Vitaly Janelt and Mathias Jensen potentially bowing out of the midfield after two starts already this week. Rico Henry hasn't started two successive matches in such a short space of time since his return from a long-term lay-off, so Aaron Hickey may return at left-back.

Latest News: Adam Webster (knee), Solly March (knee) and Stefanos Tzimas (knee) remain unavailable, while Carlos Baleba is on AFCON duty with Cameroon. Lewis Dunk and Diego Gomez also miss out due to suspension. Fabian Hurzeler said on Friday that Danny Welbeck has a back problem which has affected his ability to train this week. The issue was at least described as “minor”, but if Welbeck is unable to play, Georginio Rutter or Charalampos Kostoulas could be deployed up top. Hurzeler praised Olivier Boscagli during his press conference, stating that he is "training well" and is therefore the most likely replacement for Dunk at the back. Elsewhere, Maxim De Cuyper could feature off the left if Hurzeler is careful with Kaoru Mitoma's minutes following a lengthy period on the sidelines. The Japan winger played for 26 minutes as a substitute at Anfield last week.

Latest News: Other than the long-term absentees, namely Bashir Humphreys (muscle), Jordan Beyer (hamstring), Connor Roberts (Achilles) and Zeki Amdouni (knee), Scott Parker said that Burnley were in decent shape on the injury front. He did, however, report a bit of illness in the Clarets' camp, so there is the possibility of a player or two missing out or dropping to the bench if they've been sufficiently affected this week. While Lyle Foster, Hannibal Mejbri and Axel Tuanzebe have departed for the Africa Cup of Nations, Burnley do at least get Kyle Walker and Lucas Pires back from suspension. And considering the latest sub-par display from Quilindschy Hartman against Fulham, as well as Tuanzebe's exit, both returning full-backs may come straight back into the starting XI. The big head-scratcher this week is who takes Foster's place. Marcus Edwards continues to get overlooked for anything more than substitute duty, while neither Jaidon Anthony nor Loum Tchaouna is exactly demanding a recall based on recent form. It's possible that Parker overlooks all of those names, indeed, perhaps playing with Jacob Bruun Larsen at right wing-back and going with Zian Flemming alongside Armando Broja up top in a 5-3-2. Otherwise, it's the weekly Broja v Flemming call up top for Parker: the former impressing lately with his all-round play, the latter in fine goalscoring mood.

Latest News: Estevao (muscle) joined Liam Delap (shoulder), Dario Essugo (thigh), Romeo Lavia (quad), Levi Colwill (knee) and Mykhailo Mudryk (suspended) on the injury list this week but Moises Caicedo is back from a three-match domestic suspension. Enzo Maresca made 11 changes for the midweek cup tie against Cardiff City, so the bulk of the side that lined up against Everton will return to the starting XI on Tyneside. The availability of Caicedo throws a spanner in the works, however: how will Enzo Maresca accommodate the influential Ecuadorian in midfield, with Reece James playing well in the centre of the park and Malo Gusto in decent nick at right-back? One of those two may drop out, of course, but it's also possible that Alejandro Garnacho is the makeweight, with Caicedo's return pushing Enzo Fernandez into the '10' role and Cole Palmer out to the right. With Gusto as an overlapping right-back, rather than an inverting one, Palmer could still drift infield into more central positions. None of the Gameweek 16 side saw more midweek involvement than Garnacho, indeed; he and Joao Pedro were both handed 45 minutes.

As for Cheick Doucoure (knee) and Caleb Kporha (back), they’ve been absent all season, while fellow long-term victim Chadi Riad (knee) has only partly reintegrated into team training. There's no need for any starting XI speculation this week, as not only has Oliver Glasner promised to field a completely different side to the one that faced KuPS on Thursday (which gave the game away already), but he also named the exact line-up, Marcelo Bielsa-style, in Friday's press conference!

Latest News: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (hamstring) has joined Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring) and Seamus Coleman (hamstring) on the injury list but David Moyes didn’t provide an answer on how long the midfielder would be out for, beyond Gameweek 17. Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye have departed for the Africa Cup of Nations, too, but there's better news elsewhere in the midfield, with Jack Grealish (hamstring) fit after last week's scare and Merlin Rohl (hernia) rejoining training this week. Moyes says that Rohl will "hopefully" be in the squad. Tim Iroegbunam very likely comes into the engine room for Gueye, with Carlos Alcaraz in pole position to step in for Dewsbury-Hall. On the right flank, it's Tyler Dibling v Dwight McNeil - and you wonder if Moyes will side for seniority and experience against Arsenal, with Dibling's Everton career yet to ignite; his one and only previous start ended in a half-time withdrawal.

Antonee Robinson has completed back-to-back 90s on Saturday and Wednesday but Fulham’s next match is not until Monday night in Gameweek 17, alleviating concerns regarding rotation. Further forward, Emile Smith Rowe should continue in the No 10 role ahead of Joshua King, with the in-form Harry Wilson and Kevin positioned on either flank. As for Raul Jimenez, he's looked knackered of late but with Muniz injured, Marco Silva played down the idea of resting him, saying “… there's nothing to show that he won't be in contention".

Leeds have generally performed well since switching to a 3-5-2 formation, so any alterations to the starting XI should be minimal. Ao Tanaka faced some difficulties at Brentford last week but you’d expect him to start again here. Wilfried Gnonto, meanwhile, is pushing for a recall after impressing off the bench recently, possibly at the expense of Noah Okafor, with fellow forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin a seemingly guaranteed starter on current form. Should Farke decide to revert to a back four, it’s possible that Jaka Bijol makes way.

Latest News: Jeremy Doku (leg), Rodri (muscle), Mateo Kovacic (ankle), Oscar Bobb (hamstring) and John Stones (thigh) remain sidelined for the Cityzens, while Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush are on international duty. While we're entering silly season when it comes to teamsheets, fatigue and rotation, City's line-up has been remarkably settled in recent times. In fact, over the last seven Gameweeks, Pep Guardiola has used fewer players (12) in his starting XI than any other Premier League manager. One of those, Doku, is currently injured, so the money would be on an unchanged league team again - especially as several of the big guns were rested in the EFL Cup win over Brentford in midweek. Tijjani Reijnders, who saw fewer Gameweek 10-16 minutes than any of the others in this familiar-looking side, was the only one to last the whole match against the Bees, while Phil Foden, Nico Gonzalez, Nico O'Reilly and Rayan Cherki were limited to an hour or so. Guardiola did say after the EFL Cup tie that Cherki was a bit fatigued in the second half, although he also said that about Savinho, Cherki's possible replacement in Gameweek 17. Savinho lasted the full 90 minutes, too.

Casemiro is suspended, too, after picking up his fifth booking of the season on Monday. Patrick Dorgu and Benjamin Sesko, if he's fit enough, could benefit from the exits of Amad and Mbeumo, while Kobbie Mainoo, who Ruben Amorim said played "really well" in Gameweek 16, could step in for Casemiro in midfield. It's not quite that straightforward tactically anymore, however. We have seen some shape-shifting in recent weeks, with something akin to a 4-4-2 among the systems employed against Bournemouth. Meanwhile, media reports this week - which may or may not be true - have suggested Amorim is considering a 4-3-3, which would certainly seem plausible if the United boss deems neither Mainoo nor Manuel Ugarte capable of adequately deputising for Casemiro in a midfield two.

Latest News: Tino Livramento (knee) has joined Dan Burn (rib), Sven Botman (back), Kieran Trippier (hamstring), Jamaal Lascelles (muscle) and Emil Krafth (knee) on the sidelines, deepening the injury crisis at the back. However, there is some optimism that Lewis Hall (hamstring) could feature against Chelsea, despite missing the midweek win over Fulham; Eddie Howe said it was only "fatigue in his hamstring", with a scan not returning anything untoward. Elsewhere on the team news front, Will Osula (ankle) is still out, while Howe is "not sure" whether Nick Pope (groin) will feature, despite the goalkeeper returning to the grass this week. Lewis Miley looks set to deputise at right-back again after doing so against Fulham in the cup, while midweek rests for the likes of Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Nick Woltemade point towards that lot returning in the Premier League. Certainly, you'd find it hard to believe that Yoane Wissa would start twice within the space of 64-ish hours after so long on the sidelines. Joelinton hasn't got off the bench in the last two matches, with Howe explaining that he is nursing a groin problem and only to be used in an "emergency". Jacob Ramsey or Joe Willock may be needed in the engine room, then, with Miley's services required at right-back. Alex Murphy will be on standby at left-back, should Hall miss out.

The Tricky Trees will also be down two players due to AFCON involvement: Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangare have joined up with the Ivory Coast. Those individuals aside, Dyche said "pretty much everyone else is back on the grass", with Taiwo Awoniyi among the names. Shorter-term absentees Matz Sels (groin) and Nicolas Dominguez (knee) weren’t risked in Gameweek 16 with a view to giving them the best chance of being fit for Monday, and Dyche's pre-match comments sounded positive on that front: Sels "hopefully should be fine" and Dominguez's knee has "calmed right down". Dominguez and Douglas Luiz are the two candidates to fill Sangare's boots but after a thumping win over Spurs last weekend, you could imagine Dyche otherwise leaving the starting XI well alone. Dan Ndoye will probably be left disappointed again, then, while the likes of Dilane Bakwa, Arnaud Kalimuendo and James McAtee haven't started a single league game between them since the change in manager. The newly fit-again Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely more prominent in Dyche's plans but Nicolò Savona should keep hold of the shirt for now.

That includes Niclas Fullkrug, who missed out anew in Gameweek 16 but who has partly trained as of Thursday. Ollie Scarles and Kyle Walker-Peters will be on standby to step up at full-back/wing-back but Nuno could choose to play it another way, say by using Igor Julio as a left-back (he's played there before for Brighton) in a 4-2-3-1. The West Ham boss has frequently used a five-at-the-back set-up in away games recently, however, so Julio might be instead called upon at centre-half. Max Kilman is the alternative. Little will likely change further forward (bar a makeweight if it is 3-4-3), unless Nuno decides to use this daunting, 'free hit' trip to City as a chance to rest some regulars and play the likes of Guido Rodriguez and Tomas Soucek. A week's breather is on either side of this fixture, however, lessening the likelihood of that scenario.
