Harry Redknapp has hinted that he will throw Armand Traore straight into his lineup for tomorrow’s clash with Man United.

Traore joined on a season-long loan from Arsenal in the week and Redknapp appears to be considering selecting the Frenchman on the left of midfield tomorrow night with Kranjcar ruled out.

“Niko is out with his ankle but I’ve still got some good wide players and I wouldn’t hesitate to put Traore in,” remarked the Pompey boss.

Traore’s move is an interesting one for fantasy managers. He is of course classed as a defender and, despite being priced as an Arsenal player, is priced in the budget bracket. In the long term he will presumably compete for the left back spot with Hreidarsson. Given that Harry has forked out around £1 million to bring Traore in on loan, it would appear that he will look to play the 18-year-old on a regular basis.

For me Hreidarsson will play tomorrow night to cover Fletcher’s height on the United right. Traore will be a mismatch in those terms. With Kranjcar out it could well be that the Arsenal man is given a bow in midfield then. In the long term, with Pompey’s fixtures improving, Traore would appear to offer very decent value especially when you consider that he could be pitched forward late on in games.

In the Fantasy Premier League game he is priced at just 4.5 – although rather confusingly, Portsmouth already have a Traore listed in defence – Djimi Traore is still on their books and the FPL have yet to differentiate them in the Portsmouth squad list. That could cause some nasty errors for those considering the loan signing so watch out for that.

“Alex Chamberlain played three games for the first time in his career. He had a stiff neck at half-time, so I did not want to take a gamble with him. Then we had a problem with Koscielny, and I wanted to give some playing time to Benayoun.”
