Free £500 “Last Man Standing” Tournament Launches

It’s been a while since we’ve had some Paddy Power goodness here on the site so here’s the first of two exclusive offers this week – a new Last Man Standing tournament that’s free to enter and with a £500 prize pot.

Those of you who who are already registered with Paddy Power and entered our previous tournament can dive straight in by- via this link. You need to “Join A Private Tournament” to sign up. Simply log into your Paddy Power account and then enter the following code when prompted – 12658847746440. You do of course have to be aged 18 or over to get involved.

If you’ve yet to register with Paddy or are new to the concept of Last Man Standing, here’s the beef…

‘Last Man Standing’ is an easy concept to grasp. You pick a Premier League team that you think will win in the forthcoming gameweek. If you’re right and they get the victory, you progress. If they draw or lose, you go out. You can only pick the same Premier League team once in every tournament, so it’s not like you can go for one of the big four every week.

The ‘Last Man Standing’ in the tournament pockets the prize, in this case £500 kindly donated by Paddy Power. Normally these tournaments are over in about eight weeks but if more than one player remains, the tournament will rollover to next season. All prize money will be added to Paddy Power accounts and you must have an account to play.

If you’ve yet to register with them, make sure you do so through this site. Open a new account at Paddy Power through Fantasy Football Scout, then place a £10 bet and Paddy will give you a free £20 bet just for the sheer hell of it. That’s quite handy when you consider the deal that Paddy will be offering us this weekend. More on that later.

Once registered, get signed up to our Last Man Standing Tournament right here. As mentioned, you’ll need to “Join a Private Tournament” and enter this code – 12658847746440.

Closing date for entry is 12:45 on Saturday February 20 and all participants must be aged 18 or over.

Good luck folks.

  1. Mihir says:

on the ‘Next Five Ticker’ there are some fixtures which are not coloured in … what does that stand for? just wondering

  2. Dark Horse says:

Who thinks its worth Lamps and Tevez out for Torres and Arteta. Wont be doing it until GW30 so will have had the chance to see how torres looks, just a thought at this stage. Comments would be appreicated.

    • Benzemabob says:

definitely worth a look, i am keeping an eye on arteta.

    • Bananaman says:

I really like Arteta. Fantasy gold in seasons past and good fixtures from GW30 onwards. I’ll be monitoring him over the next couple to see how his fitness is (Cruciate ligament is pretty serious) and will make a move for him if all looks good.

Its hard to see a place for Torres with the form and cost of Rooney and Drogba.

      • Dark Horse says:

How about fi you could have all three? As well as MIlner, Fabs, Arteta and Diaby

  3. Re: last man standing competition: what if there’s more than one person left, and then they all get knocked out? Imagine if all the games this weekend were drawn (a touch far-fetched I know, but still…), would the £500 get split between everybody? Or would everybody get £500 each? Or would everyone still in go through?

    • Dark Horse says:

it keeps going until, surprisingly, the last man is standing, even if this goes into next season.

      • Cheers. Not that hot on my gambling, so not come across this before. I know the name is a fairly big giveaway, but just wanted to get my head around how it worked.

  4. Benzemabob says:

Etherington owners- should he stay or should he go now?

    • Dark Horse says:

worth waiting, he has got a game in week 29, depends if you have got a player shortage in GW29 already.

    • teddypicker says:

take him out for diaby. etherington no longer has a dgw and has tough fixtures, bar burnley which he might be doubtful for.

    • Bananaman says:

If you can field a team this week and next without him i’d say keep him. There is an outside chance he will be fit for GW29 and he would save a precious transfer.

    • No cruciate ligament damage but his fixtures are set to stiffen after Portsmouth, which he could miss out on anyway.

      • Pocky says:

I think I’m going to sell, as mentioned, after Ports (which imo he won’t make) fixtures are against him and Stoke. Diaby and Pienaar (when back) offer too good a alternatives in the same price backet to consider holding on to him.

  5. Ty_Durden67 says:

Anyone playing fantasy CL? I just can’t seem to get happy with my team.
    Butt
    Piqué-Van Buyten-Evra
    Fabs-Ronaldo-Krasic-Xavi
    Messi-Fabiano-Higuain
    Subs:Helton, Pjanic, B.Alves, Leonardo
    I’m thinking I miss Ribery/Robben, Ronaldinho… Rooney? Maybe Cech?
    Thoughts anyone?

  6. burbley1 says:

Hi guys, i’ve already done my two free transfers for the upcoming gameweek – Tevez>Drogs and Rodallega>Zamora. Thoughts?

But then Cashley has gone and got injured. Should i stick with a defence of Dunne, Evra, Dawson (Dann) (ACole) or should i take a 4 point hit and do Cole> Vermaelan?

Then for this week i’d start Vermaelan instead of Dawson.
Do people think vermaelan is likely to score 4 points more than Dawson this week making the transfer worthwhile?

    Thanks!

  7. keotes says:

Cole to Verm or Gallas? I can afford either. Also, with Richards back, would Zabaleta start tonight?

    • Dark Horse says:

I’d wait and see what they tommorow night. The news on poss injuries for both of thems hould persuade you to at least wait until friday. If they are both fit Verm.

  8. Footballchris184 says:

Out of the following mids for next week who would you choose ?

    Tuncay, zog, fab, pienaar, lee

  9. Jamsiep says:

I am looking forward to watching the Utd match tonight, I need a reminder of how useless Beckham is as a footballer.

    • Shipstontrev says:

      from the bench??

    • Usually agree with you Jamsiep (love the return of the Ballack gravatar!) but he ain’t useless.

    • Applebonkers says:

he’s a great ‘footballer’ just not effective in the modern day game where athleticism and no talent unfortunately often trumps the other way round (i.e beckham)

      • Applebonkers says:

football is all about agbonlahors nowadays. players like beckham and formerly le tissier are a dying breed, which is a shame as there’s nothing more frustrating then watching a player run at 100 mph down the wing to the bye-line only to cross it into the stands or out for a throw in. luckily there are still enough kakas, rooneys and ronaldos around who combine both, and iniestas and xavis who are so gifted and so clever that they can still thrive in a world of super-athletes.

    • Jamsiep says:

Actually I lie, I watched the Inter vs Milan match a couple of weeks ago, and ‘Golden Balls’ was awful.

  10. Duncan says:

    Hi guys,current team is,

    Hart/Sorensen
    Ivanovic/Baird/Dann/Scharner/Dunne
    Fabregas/Milner/Duff/N’Zogbia/Hunt
    Bent/Rooney/Drogba

My head is absolutely all over the place with what direction to take my team transfer wise!Any help greatly apprecited.

    • That’s because your team looks good. Sit tight for a few days mate.

      • Dark Horse says:

i think you have seven players out in GW29 (depending of course). Could ditch Duff for Diaby like many others, Baird for someone else? Godd team tho, no point ruining it for one GW

      • Pocky says:

Agreed, Nice team Duncan. I suppose the Villa boys are the ones I’d be looking to move with GW 28/29 in mind, but if you think you’ll be able to field 11 in both 28 and 29 then there’s not much that needs changing. Any funds in the bank??

        • Duncan says:

Ok guys that has made me feel a bit better, cheers. No funds in the bank but i’ll just hold on just now and see how things pan out. Thanks again.

  11. The Saffrons says:

james mccarthy fighting to get fit for 2morro nite….. that would be one up on my rivals…..

  12. Dark Horse says:

Missed the football at the weekend. Can anyone tell me how B.Zamora played. I know he scored but that dosnt tell the whole picture.

  13. xabi_14 says:

Thanks to all the responses earlier on I’ve almost made up my mind for my transfers this week. I’ll also have 11 players for GW 28 & 29 which is a bonus!

Does this squad look good to you for the next few weeks?

    Sorenson/Shwarzer
    Evra/Ridgewell/RJohnson/Berra/Collins
    Fabregas/Lampard/O’hara/N’Zogbia/Diaby
    Bent/Rooney/Drogba

  14. granty888 says:

Thinking of – Insua > Vermaelen
Etherington > Wilshere in the nxt 2 GW. Bad idea or not??

  15. Gio says:

lads – is etherington to diaby and ade to drogba worth -4? as i already have ivan and lamps im thinking it might be worth taking the risk of not having drogba until gw 30. what do you think?

    • Dark Horse says:

i’d do the swap, not having drogba in is too big a risk, even if you end up with 10 on GW29. Iv got Bikye playing that week so effectively only got 10 myself.

  16. 7dougie says:

take a look at my team what do you tink is best for this week? got 2 free transfers..

    (A) Tevez,Bent and Faye out Drogba,Jerome and Song in (4 point hit)
    (B) Tevez,Bent and reid out Drogba,Cole and o’hara in

any other ideas?? ps can u still enter a champions league team?? if so can som1 link me up tanks

    • granty888 says:

      (A) but would keep Bent if possible

      • SuperDorrans says:

Wouldn’t get in Song, injured and one yellow card off a 2 match ban, keep Bent he doesn’t miss a gameweek coming up, in fact I’m getting him in this week.

      • Dark Horse says:

Bent is worth keeping, Song is 1 yellow away from a 2 match ban so wait on that one (doubt it will take him ong to reciove that), Drogs in is always a good plan, Jermoe will do if it means getting him iin, you can just bench hiim most weeks anyway.

        • 7dougie says:

          Jensen , Sorensen

Dunne , Faye Ab ,Scharner ,Wilkinson ,Dawson

          Lampard , Reid , N’Zogbia , Fabregas , Duff

          Bent , Rooney ,Tevez

thats the team at the min want drogba in but somthing has to give

        • granty888 says:

It looks like Song has a total of 7 bookings…he missed Stoke game in Dec after 5 so surely he has 3 more to get a 2 game ban…is this right??

          • Andy says:

He has 9 – as per our suspensions & bans list on the side of the page. Bookings in all FA competitions (so that includes both cups) count towards the total figure.

            • granty888 says:

              Ah now i see…

            • 7dougie says:

if he gets 10 is he out for 1 game or 2?? arsenal defo have a good run coming up and at 5.3 song is alot cheaper than the rest of them

              • si says:

                2. He is also an injury doubt at present.

              • 7dougie says:

youns tink bent is worth keeping then?? his only goal in the last 4 came from the spot… could take him and tevez out ang get drogba and a 5.6 striker Zamora/diamanti(DGW)

                • Dark Horse says:

if you need to get rid of bent to get drogs in then i’d say its worth it. I just think Bent will get you a few points over the next 5 games and he has a game week 29

  17. Mihir says:

    Sorenson Hart
    Collins Olsson Song Ivanovic (FayeAb)
    Diaby Fabregas (Reid) NZog Valencia
    Drogba Rooney (Crouch)

thats my team for this GW
i’ve alredy done this weeks transfers … any suggestions for next week?

  18. westlife2005 says:

Well now that all the FA Cup games have been played, what transfer (s) do people think i should be looking at for GW27? I have 2.6 in the bank, and my team is:

    Sorensen, Gomes
    Baird, Ivanovic, Hughes, Evans, Richards
    N’Zogbia, Fletcher, Duff, Lampard, Modric
    Rooney, Rodallega, Tevez

    • Dark Horse says:

Start unloading the missing gw players, which you have 7 or 8 poss at the mo. Depend onFA cup replays as well. Start shifting the ones y0ou know arnt playing for sure (like Fulham) and wait and see what emerges next week

      • westlife2005 says:

        Hey Dark Horse!

Thanks for that tip? Would you say that the Fulham players are priority at the moment, like to deffinately get rid of them for GW27? Would you say to rid all 3 of them this week, or just 2 of them? Is there any replacements you would recommend?

        • lawman says:

I reckon there might be a CS for Fulham this week, so get rid of Duff and maybe one of Baird/Hughes. Also Lampard to Fabregas i think is a move you need to do.

        • Dark Horse says:

Iv got Duff and Baird myself. Im getting rid of Duff for Diabyand next week Baird for Caldwell.
Fulham are playing better and i may be wrong but the fistures dont look great till the end of the season and they dont seem to be playing well away either. It depends on how important to you putting out 11 GW29 is? Most FF teams will only have average weeks without planning, prob is you could fall behind if you dont make plans…

          • westlife2005 says:

            Thanks lawman and Dark Horse.
Do you reckon i should do Duff someone. Baird to someone. And Lampard to Fabregas all this week? Or just two of them moves?
Also need to do Tevez to Drogs at some point.

            • Dark Horse says:

I would just do Baird out this week, keep Duff until next week and see how FA cup replays pan out. May be take a 4 point hit next week and week after is absolutely neccesary. Oh, agreed on Tevez to Drog, worth a hit anytime you do it.

  19. si says:

I am loving the split on the CL games over 2 weeks. Means we get to see 4 big games instead of 2. I hope they do the same for the QF’s so we get to watch all games?

Was this always the plan or was this a last minute contigency by UEFA to avoid having United and Chelsea fans in Milan in the same week?

    • Jamsiep says:

Well there is the small matter that AC and Inter play in the same stadium! I just think that it is just a new initiative from UEFA.

  20. mysteryDave says:

    Thanks Mark, Paddy & FFS.
Lets home I have more luck than last time.

  21. Paulo says:

Is Drogba likely to rise and Tevez likely to fall tonight?
Checked FT and Drogba is over 80%

  22. Dub says:

Anyone know who won the first Last Man Standing?

    • Dub says:

Hi Dub, yeah it was me (and 2 others) actually, I didn’t want to make a big deal about it though but seeing as you asked…

      • Dub says:

Hey that’s awesome well done, I get why you wouldn’t have mentioned it as you look like a bit of a n0b bringing it up yourself.

        • Dub says:

Cheers, yeah I’d prefer to just keep it quiet.

          • TorresMagic says:

Congrats Dub, where are you in the Reserves now? Too lazy to look.

            • Dub says:

Plummeted to 17th TM, a horrid run. Dropped from 200th to 12000th so pretty gutted.

              • TorresMagic says:

No way, thats hektik. I’m at 28000, might catch up by the time the season is out, make sure you finish in the top 15 in the Reserves at the very least.

            • Dub says:

You making any ground in the H2H3?

              • TorresMagic says:

Won 4 H2H’s in a row & a likely 5th win on the way. Up from 18th to 11th & likely to break into the top 10. H2H season changed when I just won my H2H 159-152. A loss there & things could well be different.

                • Dub says:

Nice work, that’s a great run. I look like losing this week too so could drop off the first page tomorrow, I’m hoping Taylor does something amazing in the 3 minutes he’ll come on for.

                  • TorresMagic says:

Oh no mate, thats terrible. I remember not long ago you were leading, the wheels have fallen of looking at your overall position. Hope you can correct it & get back into the top 15. Its quite hard with the standard of player down there.

  23. tbhogal says:

Guys which man utd midfielder is most likely to get the most points this gameweek? Apart from Valencia?

Im thinking Fletcher – what are your views please?
