Saturday’s Dugout Discussion

Manchester United. Double gameweek. It all kicks off right here, right now with the first game of the week already so prescient in our thoughts. A million and one managers with Wayne Rooney inevitably as their captain will be hoping it starts with a bang.

Everton have unsurprisingly named the strongest line-up available for the tie, having recently had to get to grips with the absence of both Fellaini (long term) and Cahill (short term) while Fergie pulls a cat out of the bag and starts Dimitar Berbatov in what may be classed as a big game. Vidic is only good enough for the bench in his recovery from nerve damage while club captain Gary Neville gets to play against his brother Phil once more, relegating Rafael to the bench.

That’s not all that’s in store though, once the two Scotch managers head off to the managers office for a glass of wine and conversation consisting of nothing but the words och and aye we’ll welcome a light smattering of 3 o’clock kick offs into the fray…

West Ham are the lighter burden of this double gameweek but will start with a relatively plum home time against Hull, meanwhile Chelsea (sans Lampard) head to the midlands to face Mick McCarthy who is disdainfully recovering from the wrapped hands he received from the FA this week. Wengers Arsenal also play host to Sunderland who have so many injuries and suspensions in their ranks at the moment it wouldn’t be all too surprising to see chairman Niall Quinn squeezing into his old shirt just in case.

Finally, if you have a tolerance for pain greater than Jack Bauer, we will round out the day with the all star tie of Portsmouth vs Stoke. Perhaps the managers off-field antics being the most interesting Tête à Tête this evening, massage parlours in the blue corner and naked headbutts in the red.

As usual this here post is ready and waiting for your discussions of all of the days action, and for those of you who want an even larger slice of the pie can head on over to our Chat Room for some afternoon delight.

What a crap gameweek and Portmouth are a disgrace.

By the way did anyone see the Valencia assist? Came off an Everton player didnt it?

  2. Soup Or Man says:

I really want to get O’Hara into my team but I can’t see how.
    My midfield is: Fabregas/Valencia/Lee/N’Zogbia/Etherington.
Ill prob sell Ethers for Pienaar this GW but after that I don’t knoiw what to do.
Lee would be the obvious option but with a possible DGW in 29, I’d like to keep him.

    Any suggestions?

please dont say youre being serious with O’Hara. its unclear whether they’ll have a team by march as they must pay there debt by 1st march

      • smith900 says:

        Totally agree!

      • haxman says:

Yeah, stay clear of O’Hara till after the court stuff. If Pompey go out of business he’ll go back to Spurs and be on the bench at best even though I reckon he’s a better player than Jenas, and as influential as Hudd atm (albeit in a poor Pompey side).

      • Skilla says:

Yep i’d wait on that one. Good player to have in the squad as long as you don’t intend to rely on him week in week out. O’Hara is the diamond in the dirt at the moment. Come March I reckon he’ll be the diamond in the shit hole.

Out of all of the above it’s got to be lee, but on that score I’d leave it as it is . Wish I could affort pienaar for etherington, don’t have the cash though

  3. smith900 says:

Cos O’Hara cost me! Ok to be fair they did NOT deserve to lose but the one time I play Ohara he messes up! I only played him cos of the disasters this week with Lamps and Tevez etc.

No point bringing in OHara now in my opinion dude. Portsmouth are in dissaray..

Keep your midfield, it is pretty solid. Only sell Etherington..

    • haxman says:

How did O’Hara mess up? He got booked? Other than that I thought he played well.

It’s hard to look good all the time when you are surrounded by the sh it that Pompey call a team. At least they try to play football, not like the Stoke’s and Blackburn’s of this world.

      • smith900 says:

Points man!!! And why did he mouth off to the ref? Thats another point lost!

And he will definitley not get any bonus now..

Yeah i agree it has when your surrounded by sh*t but he was brilliant in the last two Pompey games so I was hoping he would do similar..

Yeah Stoke are a bunch of w*nkers. they might aswell play Rugby!!!

    • gooner dave says:

How did he “mess up”, miss a penalty?,red card?, tried his best in a poor team didn’t get the rub of the green but he didn’t duck and hide.

  4. Soup Or Man says:

    The cup is back!!!!

  5. smith900 says:

    So?

  6. Skilla says:

If i do my next two transfers I ‘ll have too many options in my team each week. I dislike getting into a situation like it is a headache choosing the first 11 each week. Is this the best way to go or would you rather have a strong 11 and cheapies on the bench? My squad will look like this:

    Cech Hart
    Ivanovic Evra Dunne Baines Ridgewell
    Fabregas Diaby Milner Pienaar N’Zogbia
    Rooney Drogba Saha

  7. Rich says:

ok i want to do tevez out and probably saha or donovan in…which one should i get? also i have gallas and diaby out already and evra and rooney. hopefully one of the gunners will be back. who else should i transfer out? thanks.

  8. dk123 says:

is zirkov to baines a good transfer also wen will garry cahill price drop. thanks

  9. rambo123mop says:

yes 3 bps fab and 3 shawx

  10. BonZ says:

so eboue got no bps anf fab again 3………i really did shoot myself in the foot!!!!

  11. Rich says:

should i do tevez>saha now? it doesn’t really matter right?

  12. 44 with Gomes, Dunne, Dann, Nelsen, N’Zogbia, Valencia and Rooney (c) to play.
    What bout everyone else??
