Saturday’s Dugout Discussion

Filed under: Site Features - Posted by: Andy

Manchester United. Double gameweek. It all kicks off right here, right now with the first game of the week already so prescient in our thoughts. A million and one managers with Wayne Rooney inevitably as their captain will be hoping it starts with a bang.

Everton have unsurprisingly named the strongest line-up available for the tie, having recently had to get to grips with the absence of both Fellaini (long term) and Cahill (short term) while Fergie pulls a cat out of the bag and starts Dimitar Berbatov in what may be classed as a big game. Vidic is only good enough for the bench in his recovery from nerve damage while club captain Gary Neville gets to play against his brother Phil once more, relegating Rafael to the bench.

That’s not all that’s in store though, once the two Scotch managers head off to the managers office for a glass of wine and conversation consisting of nothing but the words och and aye we’ll welcome a light smattering of 3 o’clock kick offs into the fray…

West Ham are the lighter burden of this double gameweek but will start with a relatively plum home time against Hull, meanwhile Chelsea (sans Lampard) head to the midlands to face Mick McCarthy who is disdainfully recovering from the wrapped hands he received from the FA this week. Wengers Arsenal also play host to Sunderland who have so many injuries and suspensions in their ranks at the moment it wouldn’t be all too surprising to see chairman Niall Quinn squeezing into his old shirt just in case.

Finally, if you have a tolerance for pain greater than Jack Bauer, we will round out the day with the all star tie of Portsmouth vs Stoke. Perhaps the managers off-field antics being the most interesting Tête à Tête this evening, massage parlours in the blue corner and naked headbutts in the red.

As usual this here post is ready and waiting for your discussions of all of the days action, and for those of you who want an even larger slice of the pie can head on over to our Chat Room for some afternoon delight.

  • Is Bogdan first choice keeper now at Bolton. Just thinking of a cheap second keeper. »
  • They might well run riot, but Valencia may not be involved in the points. Too many options now that Nani and Young are… »
  • U could have Nani / Young / Cleverly options at that stage, Go GYLFI! »
