Granville may have left for sunny shores, but while he’s sipping on his cocktails, pondering how to juggle his Man City strikers to ensure they miss out on points, I’ve laboured on without him.

I say laboured, what we have this week is possibly the first “grown up” podcast we’ve ever produced, as I chew the fat with an actual football expert, rather than my regular Mancunian pretender.

Renowned football writer, Jonathan Wilson, joined me for a chat, just a week after his latest work – the Brian Clough biography – “Nobody Ever Says Thank You” hit the shelves.

We inevitably talk Clough, discuss the theories behind the Premier League’s goal explosion, the plight of Wilson’s own beloved Sunderland and, of course, pick apart Jonathan’s own Fantasy Football team.

Wilson’s own labour of love – The Blizzard. – is also on the agenda. The quarterly magazine captures some of the best football writing around, delivering in-depth and leftfield articles, ignored by the mainstream football media.

Issue Three is due for release on December 1 in electronic form or print, with back issues available on a “pay what you want” model. You can find full details on the Blizzard’s site right here.

Get yourself a copy after listening in on the chat via this link.

All right smart arse. I think you’ll find: ‘dull as ditchwater’ and ‘dull as dishwater’ are in common use. However, the original idiom is ‘ditchwater’, where as ‘dishwater’ is the modern variation.

If you like, you can pick me up on the use of ‘All right’ at the beginning of this comment, but you’ll be wrong about that too.

        In a bit

I thought it was interesting – well the bits about Clough, the goal explosion these last few seasons and Sunderland were!

I found it funny that he clearly does’t care about his Fantasy Football Team if he has Kevin Davies (no longer on Pens and Chris Samba).

Didn’t care for the chat about Blizzard though, far too much time spent shilling it.

I think the main issue is people listen to the podcast for:
      a) Opinions on this weeks Fantasy Football
      b) Banter between Mark and Granville
Both of which were missing this week.

I’m certainly looking forward to next weeks Podcast and everything back to normal!

Very good team, that 2.4 could either be used to swap Bale for DVD or to swap The Talent to Ba and Woodgate to Jags/Kompany.

Ok lads and lasses am in need of a mid at 4.7-4.8 to replace Tiote with, I have Allen, so am veering away from B Johnson as he doesn’t rotate well, but the only options seem to be Wigan players and the only one on there is the Holy One, and I’m not picking him EVER AGAIN.

The thing is, they are not even playing that well at the moment. Mata is probably the best choice if pushed. After Dzeko’s showing in the CL the other day, I cant see him starting and Evertons fixtures are quite good. I wouldnt drop Silva. If Man City go out of the Champs League Silva will play every week…

      BlueMoonRising says:

Don’t fancy any really. Sturridge is a good shout this week. However his fixtures deteriorate after this until christmas. I’ve got him so not getting rid of him but I think, given the chance I wouldn’t get him now.

Even though I don’t pick U*d players, Hernadez could be a good shout. He will be Utd’s main goal threat if Rooney is playing midfield.
