Talent – Landon Donovan

Filed under: Members - Posted by: Mark

Landon Donovan’s return to Goodison on a two-month loan deal from LA Galaxy provided a welcome boost for the Everton faithful, who have so far endured a most unremarkable season. Having helped to ignite David Moyes’ side in a similar loan spell in 2010 with two goals and three assists, Donavon arrives with expectation heaped on his slight shoulders.

A smart assist for Victor Anicebe’s equaliser at Villa Park provided a glimpse of his talent, and in this latest article for Members, we examine Donavon’s impact so far to analyse his potential for his remaining weeks in England.

The first significant statistic to note is that Donavon has played every minute of every game since he became eligible. David Moyes threw him straight into the action in the 2-1 home defeat to Bolton and the American played the full 90 minutes in the trip to Spurs in the same Gameweek. Donovan looks to be a nailed-on starter, then.

Moyes has so far deployed Donovan on the right-flank, playing in front of Tony Hibbert against Bolton and then Phil Neville in the last couple of fixtures. He held this role for the trip to White Hart Lane, although he tended to tuck in far more in this game, joining midfield areas and looking to support Victor Anichebe and Louis Saha up front. He took up a similar position at Villa Park, drifting inside to provide the killer ball for Everton’s goal at Aston Villa. So far, though, that single assist has been the sole Fantasy contribution from Donovan over his three appearances but, as the ICT Index shows, it hasn’t been for a lack of trying.

For ALL of you in the Ships league (you know who you are!), I’ve created a new one that starts at gw21, whch I thought would be the case with Ships, as it seems a little farer.

    Code is: 800-569929

This is only open to those in the Ships league apart from exceptional circumstances! Cheers.

I’d leave it as is. valencia is likely to do well against Miquel and Aguero at home against a tottenham side that Harry has told to attack.

Hello guys, my first post here.

This is my first season of fantasy football, unfortunately I had a bad start (Couldn’t even get on to confirm the team for first week of action considering the Barclays Fantasy League server couldn’t handle so many users at once), and unfortunately I picked Torres as captain for a few weeks. Oh dear. However I managed to claw from 1,512,949 Overall to 241,169 Overall. That is my story so far, majority of weeks I’ve been very consistent.

I used to play an expensive lineup with pretty much no regular bench starters. It worked, but recently injuries have almost cost me – so this week I will be using my Wild Card.

Can you tell me what you think of this team? Im not even sure what formation to use!!

    Krul ~ Vorm
    R.Taylor ~ G.Cahill ~ Richards ~ J.Enrique ~ Simpson
    Bale ~ N.Dyer ~ Mata ~ Walters ~ Sessegnon
    Aguero ~ Morison ~ RVP

What do you think guys? Thanks for reading.

Could anybody help me out? Not sure if my defence is too weak?

    Sorensen – Vorm
    Enrique – Evans – Senderos – Cahill – R Taylor
    Silva – Sess – Bale – Walters – Dempsey
    Fletcher – RVP – Aguero

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Should I have city cover in defence?

Defence too weak?? No. Thats a good defence with good coverage.

The City player I am considering at the back is Richards.

        Muloc76 says:

That’s who I was thinking of, but it would mean sacrificing Cahill and Evans.
Your team looks solid, although I have had Mata a few times and he has let me down every time!

Thanks mate, yeah im just going over my team now. Have replaced Simpson with Caulker and now can replace Morison with Sturridge, making my team pretty damn good.

Yeah Mata has dropped out of “points” for a few weeks now but I am confident all he needs is a goal/assist to get him back to his high standard of play.

Remember you can always go for Lescott instead of Richards..

    Question about Fantasy Football –

    - If a substitute defender comes on to a 0-0 game and doesn’t concede, does he still get a clean sheet or does he have to play 90mins?

    - If a substitute defender comes on to a 1-0 game with the team already conceding, does he get a clean sheet if during his play no goals are conceeded?

    Thanks.

      Mags says:

A clean sheet is awarded for not conceding a goal whilst on the pitch and playing at least 60 minutes.
If a player has been substituted when a goal is conceded this will not effect any clean sheet bonus.

Good evening! Another quite generic WC team, any suggestions or comments?

    Sorensen (Lindegaard)
    J.Enrique, Richards, Shotton (Kelly, Williamson)
    Silva, Bale, Sess, Walters (Ireland)
    Rooney (c), RVP, Sturridge

    0.7 in le bank.

    Thanks!
