Injuries

Jones Leads United’s List of Emirates Casualties

Manchester United’s 2-1 win at the Emirates appears to have come at some cost, with Phil Jones reportedly facing “weeks” on the sidelines as just one of several casualties.

Jones was forced off after 17 minutes of the Emirates clash with an apparent ankle injury and Sir Alex Ferguson’s post match comments suggest that he could now face several weeks on the sidelines…

“It’s not good news for us…I think Jones will be out for a few weeks – it’s ankle ligaments.”

Reports state that Jones will undergo scans on the injury on Monday, at which point we will hopefully gain a confirmed term of absence.

Jones has suffered a number of knocks and niggles in his first season at Old Trafford and another setback would seem likely to diminish his Fantasy ownership further. The former Blackburn man has suffered heavy sales following his recent layoff with a jaw injury and illness.

There are also further reported knocks in the United camp, with Ferguson confirming that Michael Carrick had sustained a hamstring problem which left him stricken in the closing stages of today’s victory.

The Daily Mail also reports that Nani left the stadium in a protective boot having suffered an injury which forced him off on 75 minutes. Wayne Rooney is also reported to have been struggling with a knock which left him limping from the field on the final whistle.

Should Nani and Rooney face a spell on the sidelines, it would seem likely trigger significant FPL sales. Nani’s blank at the Emirates was his fifth consecutive game without returns, while Rooney has also gone off the boil, fetching just two assists in his last four league appearances.

We await further confirmation of those injuries from Old Trafford, with further reports likely to surface in tomorrow’s press.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Common sense tells me I should downgrade Aguero and upgrade the midfield and defence but I can't let him go.

Nah keep him, just a matter of time although Dzeko could be worth a shout if Balotelli gets a ban.

Heh, we've got identical scores G-G-G. Wish we had both played Mignolet though.

What are Adebayor owners doing? Spurs have Wigan but then a horrid run of fixtures. If anyone got him early like myself theres the issue of losing a fair amount of money on him (which is slightly counter initiative to my WC prise rise chasing) - 0.7m, personally. But downgrading to Keane could also go part of the way to affording to bring Silva back into my team.

As a spurs fan he's a fantastic link up Striker however from a fantasy perspective he makes you want to tear your hair out. Can score against anyone and often when you least expect it i.e. against Man United and not Wigan at home

my WC team for this week has Adebayor and Walters(benched and kept ready for next week) instead of morrison/fletcher etc + Valencia.. cant think of any other worthy differentials.. everyone's team is the same
