The Weekend Team News

Filed under: Team News - Posted by: johnfinlay

Louis Saha will not feature for Tottenham after former boss David Moyes and Harry Redknapp strike up a “gentleman’s agreement” prior to the Goodison fixture, whilst Aaron Lennon misses out with injury.

Moyes welcomes back a host of players including Jack Rodwell, Victor Anichebe and Leon Osman. Chris Smalling will be assessed ahead of Manchester United’s game with West Brom, who have lost Steven Reid for the season.

John Terry and Ashley Cole are both available in a fully fit Chelsea squad as they take on Stoke. Arsene Wenger is sweating on a number of players in the build up to their clash with Newcastle.

I have the captain’s armband on Suarez, and I’m not chasing a lead. If this doesn’t convince Suarez to score huge numbers on a double gameweek, nothing will.

The fantasy gods should consider “hit the bar” points. Which, in reality, is harder than scoring a goal right? I mean, the woodwork is quite thin… ;)

i got him in but i cant captian him over rvp considering the form of the 2 even if it is a dgw (its risk enough bringing him in for ba let alone captain him)

        futbolnotsoccer says:

Yeah I sold Ba as well. I’m still considering the armband on RVP, but it just makes sense to take the gamble on Suarez, statistically speaking (from the Sunderland and Everton’s defense point of view). There is no way he can fail to score at least a brace at the two….but then again, Suarez’s stats are also quite grim. I’m giving the benefit of the doubt…for now.

My standing rule this year is to never take hits unless you need it to field a competitive 11 or for DGWers

I have an additional rule that says only get DGWs who you will not mind having 4 weeks after their DGW.

IF we went by your rule, NONE of us would be getting Liverpool players. If you go by mine, its actually a bit more lenient.

I think you’re wrong. Skrtel is a great pick this week. As Mark said in the podcast they’ve had the least attempts on target in the league and they are playing without their top golascorer. Everton are notoriously toothless in attack.

Liverpool on the other hand have one of the best defensive records in the league.

But I do agree that their fixtures afterwards makes brining a Liv player in a must this GW

The point of the matter is that Suarez didn’t make an attempt.

LFC forced him to apologize for that, but not for his comment that he ADMITTED SAYING?

I know LFC is run by a bunch of idiots, but I give them a little more credit than that.

They forced him at that point because the entire issue reignited after handshakegate. The straw that broke the camels back, as it were.

Where I do agree with you is that LFC is run by a bunch of idiots :)

        Pasqualinho says:

I must admit, though – I wouldn’t have been surprised had Evra refused (and wouldn’t blame him, either). He was, after all, the one who was wronged in the whole affair. Rio Ferdinand didn’t shake hands either – but I don’t know if that was premeditated or a reaction to what went on a second before.

I agree that Evra had a right. But he did the right thing. Suarez didn’t even make an attempt.

          Roonatic says:

I honestly don’t think the whole affair is as black and white as it seems. Evra called Suarez a sudaca (highly offensive term about south americans). Is abusing someone based on their national heritage any worse than abusing someone based on their skin colour? Don’t think so.

Racism has become the poster child for discrimination these days, so it’s easier to side with someone who claims to be the victim of racism, even if he was guilty himself.

I am a United fan, but still don’t completely back Evra as being guilt free on this one.

I’m pretty sure you’re right, they were both trying to wind eachother up – but somewhere the line of acceptability was breached and the FA were right to come down hard on it. GJ (and us, to a certain extent) shouldn’t be dragging it on. It’s happened, punishment has been served and it would be criminal not to learn from it.
