The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 1

Filed under: Betting - Posted by: Money Mike

We’ve gorged on a feast of football all summer, cooked up by Olympians and the cream of Europe. The Premier League’s players have been cast as both heroes and villains as they’ve competed for international acclaim, but what does that mean now for the new season? And more importantly, what does that mean for my betting slip?

For those of you new to the “Flutter”, and those of you who’ve indulged in one barbeque too many, this article allows you to put your money where your mouth is and make real earnings from your Fantasy picks. Each week we take a £10 stake and spread across three special bets that our friends over at Paddy Power price up for us based on a tasty selection of Scout Picks or just a hunch we fire over to them.

Our first course is something to savour. While he lost out to Sergio Aguero in our Picks, the rejuvenated Carlos Tevez certainly features in Mancini’s good-books after a title winning contribution at the tail-end of last season. Goals in pre-season often inform how a player will begin their campaign proper, but can be also misleading. For Tevez, a goal in the Community Shield was enough for us to see his real mettle, and with Paddy offering 7/4 for him to score and City to keep a cleanie against fresh meat Southampton, we’ll be marking them down at the top of our betting slip for a £4 win.

Fernando Torres also contributed to the Community Shield thriller, and looks like another wayward striker finding his scoring feet again. Even though he ended up on the losing side for these pre-season honours, Torres will be buoyed by the wealth of supporting midfield players bought in at the Bridge, and furthermore, by Wigan’s dubious run up to this opening game – losing without scoring from the last two pre-season matches. Paddy are after a goal and a cleansheet and will pay out on 11/4 for the pleasure. This has tempted us into a second line of £4 to our first slip of the season.

Our final couple of quid goes on Arsenal’s Belgian warrior, Thomas Vermaelen. Always good for a goal from the back, we fancy the Gunners to notch a few against a Sunderland side low in pre-season confidence and smarting from injuries. The odds of 11/1 on a Vermaelen goal with an Arsenal clean sheet look tempting enough.

Finally, in case you missed them yesterday, Paddy have also prepared some pre-season markets for us. Have a gander at those via this article.

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

I love how the Norwegian TV commentators are going on and on about Liverpool having to do better this year because they hit the woodwork so many times last year.

Has been in my team for weeks but got rid yesterday. Went for combination of Graham + Kaca instead of Petric + Michu to save funds for RVP upgrade. Might still plan out as I probably would have benched Michu anyways.

    FFS 1-0 NOT USING FFS

Many players pointed out on here, or only owned by FFScouters have played well/ scored! Petric has played brilliant, and already notched 1 goal. Nolan has got 1. Michu, who has been spoken of lots on here got 1 for the swans! Carzola is playing brilliantly and I would bet on him getting a late 1!

“I am happy with the way I’ve started, but on the other hand, I should have scored four or five more, so that’s something for me to work on.”
