City Issue Aguero Injury Update

Filed under: Injury News - Posted by: Paul

Manchester City have confirmed this afternoon that Sergio Aguero is expected to be sidelined for the next couple of Gameweeks at least. The club’s official website gave Fantasy managers a handy injury update on a trio of their stars earlier this evening, with the Aguero news the most crucial to our transfer planning:

Roberto Mancini revealed the player has undergone knee scans and has since been assessed by medical personnel. The City boss was optimistic over a quick return to action for his star forward, with a possible comeback for the Gameweek 4 trip to Stoke on the cards:

“I don’t think Sergio will be out for long and we are hoping he will be back after the international break which is obviously fantastic news for him and for us. We were very worried a couple of days ago because we feared he could be out for six months or maybe even more which would have been very bad news. It looked like a very strange injury at the time and because it was his knee, we were obviously very concerned so this news is a relief for everybody.”

The news will no doubt speed up the transfers-out over the next few days, with Carlos Tevez the obvious trade. Aguero has already been shipped out by 132, 000 Fantasy managers after he was stretchered off against the Saints on Sunday – Tevez has been acquired by more than 94,000 in anticipation of a possible absence for his compatriot and is on the verge of rising in price for the second time this week in FPL.

Mancini also revealed that Gareth Barry and Micah Richards will remain on the sidelines for the time being. Barry could well join Aguero in returning for the Stoke clash but Richards may be out for a longer period – this promotes Pablo Zabaleta in our Fantasy thinking, with the 6.0 priced Argentine’s role at right-back looking nailed-on until Richards comes back into contention:

“Gareth will also be ready after the international break. “He hasn’t played any games for almost four months and he needs to build his fitness up, but he is training again and I don’t see him being out for any longer than one month and hopefully, maybe just a couple of weeks. Micah’s injury is more serious and he could be out a little longer, but having said that, with rest and the right treatment, we are hopeful he could be ready in about one month, which again would be great news.”

If I choose say vidic as captain, can I then switch to say hazard for the second Chelsea game if I want and if I do will I get double hazard points from the first Chelsea game tonight….

      Natas says:

If you have Vidic as captain, than you can change for tonights second game to Hazard so long as you do it within the first 15 minutes of the match and bearing in mind that he hasnt acquired any attacking points yet. Then for the remainder of the game, you may switch to any other forward yet to play as long as the mid being switched has already scored attacking points. Hope this helps.

Tempted to bring in Ade and Ba over the next few weeks for Torres and Bent… considering I already have 2.5m in the bank it’d leave me with alot of cash to bolster up my midfield and also leave with with a decent forward line. Thoughts? :)

    A) People who picked Ramires
    B) Everyone who knows someone who picked Ramires and has points on the bench

      B)

Ramires currently has 0 points, Dyer has 16, Michu 18. If Ramires scores more than that then it may change of course.

Just thought I’d repost what I heard on Sky on Saturday, for anyone who wonders why Marveaux was not on the bench.

“Ben Arfa makes a surprise return”

*Damn, Marveaux is on the bench then. Oh well, late sub?*

“Newcastle were going to name Sylvain Marveaux as their final substitute but we have been informed they cannot find him!”

    *10 seconds later*

“Amalfitano has been named on Newcastle’s bench…”
