The draw for the First Round is listed below, with the likes of Mark and Granville both sailing through the qualifiers.

      I'm looking at that same front 3, just seems a matter of time before Rooney gets a really good score and he's a great differential but it really weakens the rest of the team.

          Yeh that is a weak midfield tbh, leaves you no chance of Cazorla Bale Fellaini Silva without losing of Rooney/RVP but it might be worth it short term as Arsenal and Spurs dont have great fixtures for a few weeks.

    Anyone believe now is the perfect time to look for differentials? If everyone is going to captain RVP for about 6 weeks now...tinkering with your midfield/defence to find some hidden gems might be the way to go. It could be the only way to separate yourself from the crowd and climb those extra ranks.

      No. Differentials will only gain you ground if most of the in-form popular picks fail over a long period, which they won't.

          Not right now. This point of the season is about picking the right in-form players and building a strong team which will be up inside the top 10k. Feb/March onwards, once you have built a good team value, is a good time to pick differentials - especially as its around then new players come in, some lose form and others go on great runs.

            Saying that, I have one or 2 in my team atm, but not because they're differentials, just because they were the best options at that price. Prime example is McAnuff over Sterling - the face McAnuff is a differential didn't come into it for me - I simpy think he will outperform Sterling.

            You have to admit this an ultra conservative view. I'm not talking about filling your entire team with differentials. I meant because everyone's captaincy could be really predictable...it might be an easier time to look for the odd differential that could set you apart.

              Yeah it is conservative, but Im inside the top 2k so its working! I think I'd have one midfield differential at the max atm. Strikers have to be popular picks (except maybe Ruiz?!) and so does the rest of midfield. I guess Sagna is a differential atm too.

                It just comes across like you're being too close-minded and letting others pick the players for you. As I said...I'm not advocating a strategy of strong differentiation. I simply meant that the odd differential or two could really work well over the next period as teams are becoming more and more the same and settled.

          You don't need differentials. Popular picks (on here at least) are popular for a reason. Last season at this stage I was 100+ points behind the minileague leader - I didn't try to pick different players from him (never really looked at his team) in fact he kept complaining that I was "copying" his team - in the end I made up that 100+ points without differentials.

            That's not true though. If you had the exact same team then you would never have come ahead of him (unless you were luckier with captaincy). You needed different players to climb and gain momentum on your opponent. Is that not the definition of a differential?

              Our teams were generally similar (hence his moanings!) but if you actually looked at the transfer histories I was bringing in players a week or two earlier than him - one step ahead, but at any given time our teams were similar

              But he won't have the exact same team. I think differentials are more imporatant once you focus on minileagues and are chasing only a few teams. Differentials to them could still be popular picks like Baines. Differentials to the whole FPL usebase aren't usually a great idea now, especially as as soon as they perform bucketloads will ship him in.

    Safely through to the first round with 50 (net) but got a tough draw against Stengo (they are all tough I expect!). Pre-transfers this week, it would seem to come down to...

    Me: Baines, Clyne, Nelsen, Cazorla, Bale, Tevez
    Him: Cameron, Rafael, A.Cole, Hazard, Nolan (or Maloney), Lambert

    His defence is much better than mine on paper but I prefer my mids and attack. Think you can guess where my transfer will be used this week! (regardless of this H2H)

    I'm considering:

    Tevez > Giroud (FUL) this week
    Tevez > Suarez (WIG) next week - if the above has been a massive heart-breaking failure.

    Shouldn't ever involve a hit as no injuries/suspensions at the moment - touch wood.

    I've got Zabaleta 'covering' City - and eventually will probably want to make a move for Aguero.

    It looks to me like a straight fight between Hazard and RVP as Sterling / Giroud should mostly score the same...

      points hits are not shown in your GW score for any week

      But when you go to your GW history, you can see the Transfers made, transfers cost and can see that the point hits have already been adjusted for your final score for each week
