Saturday offers up the uncomfortable scenario of an early kick-off captain. Luis Suarez dominated our thinking going into the Gameweek, running away with our Captain poll has thousands backed him for his home clash with Cardiff. That Anfield encounter provides the day’s opener and a potential points haul or major failure from the off.

The team news from Anfield finds few surprises from Brendan Rodgers’ lineup as he keeps the same starting XI that destroyed Spurs at the Lane. Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen retain their starting roles in midfield, while Dan Agger is amongst the substitutes as Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho form the centre-back partnership once again. Malky Mackay is under the media microscope for today’s match in the light of the seemingly untenable relationship with club owner Vincent Tan. In what could be his last Cardiff team selection, Mackay chooses to recall Aron Gunnarsson in place of striker Frazier Campbell in the only change to the side that won three points against West Brom last time out.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to provide a real-time platform for your views for this match and will remain throughout the day’s action.

    b) No

    c) MOTD pundit answer

    1. d) maybe

      1. With Sturridge and Gerrard, A) yes

    2. a) but don't think they will.

      1. This

    3. City will win, but if they keep it up defo top three!

    4. D) Ask again after the next two games.

    5. A.

Of course they can, but I wouldn't say they are favourite.

  2. Need City's mids to be quiet...

  3. Why's Jaask benched?

    1. Saved for the harder teams?

      1. HAh, good one

      2. oooo snap

    2. adrian played well during the week it seems

      1. but jussi apparently had a blinder last GW, also got 3 baps

  4. Joe Hart starts for City ...

    1. wow you're bit slow there

  5. Anyone got Berba in? :D

  6. C&ntinho & Sesspit to Theo and Miralles for 4 points (unless injuries happen)

  7. Just Rooney, Silva, Gabbidon today.. Atleast they are all differentials in my league :)

  8. Rejoice all the ones who have a cm costing 1.0 more than ozil ,cos that's what rooney is....

  9. Anyone else here having Barry Bannan? hope he goes ballistic :) .

    1. Sure hoping for that. He's my differential ;-)

  10. 7 goals in The last 6 against West Ham, Rooney goal incoming!!

    1. glad we kept him donny

    2. goals*

    3. c'mon Roo :)

    4. RavMo will score today.

      1. That wasn't suppose to be a reply.

  11. 48.6% own Suarez, so if you captained him and have ten more who take the field chances are pretty good you are in the top 2 million for the gw18 blog cup. Always set low expectations.

    1. Is that all 48% , suprised at that

      1. That's still very high ownership

      2. Yes, I can't explain it, maybe these are mainly dead teams. I suppose there are some active who just refuse to have him for personal reasons.

      3. Hopefully turns out ok, Suarez captainer here, last week I gave Lukaku the armband for the first time in 4 weeks and it was painful; learnt my lesson there! Using my Jan WC on the first day before GW19 hopefully, my team needs a bit of sorting for the cup weeks. Good luck to you all

  12. 32 points from 1 seems pretty average..

  13. Did my Xmas shopping and can now fully relax...

    No work till mid Jan

    Lovely stuff

    1. Congrats! Apart from one day working from home I'm off til the 2nd Jan, it feels glorious.

    1. Good work Thomass.

      1. Thanks TM good luck with Sydney Sixers you watching the BB league in Oz?

        1. Watched the 1st 2 games.

          1. I've missed it so far how's the quality been?

            1. Good batting, bowling shit.

          2. Who do you wanna win?

            1. Don't really care.

  14. No dead teams this time around in the cup then !

    1. There will be plenty. 500K won't have Suarez in the Cup.

      1. still much lesser than what the trend has been

  15. As a Liverpool fan, our defence is a little disappointing considering the amount we spent on it in the summer. Sakho had a solid game but Johnson and Skrtel were too lazy and Skrtel was lucky not to concede a penalty for us!!

  16. With Liverpool being top of the league are their fans going to be unbearable??

    It's only till Monday

    1. Chelsea get their turn then.

      1. No chance

        1. SuperOscar will have a field day.

          1. Am not worried about losing, I think a draw is possible though...

    2. Chelsea/arsenal draw would be fantastic

    5. its the worst timing, im about to spend xmas with my entirely liverpool fan family

  17. Ah so Suarez went up to Agger and gave him the armband!

  18. So Rafa and Smalling start. Terry to Rafa?

    1. Personally I'd rather downgrade, Utd don't keep many clean sheets.

  19. New Post
  20. Rooney a midfielder again?

    1. I would have thought with that lineup he's in the hole behind Wellbeck.

  21. Class save from Adrian.

  22. great save that by adrian

  23. Those Cardiff fans can't stay at Anfield forever

  24. Everyone said get Silva over Yaya... I got Yaya !

  25. ...I also listened when people said Sess > Cabaye is a bad idea for a hit. Oops.

  26. Lola at Kompany o.g.
