Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Monday

An all-London affair at the Emirates brings the curtain down on Gameweek 17 this evening. Plenty of Fantasy favourites are on show as the Gunners look for the win that would extend their lead to four points over the chasing pack:

For the hosts, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are the main protagonists for Fantasy managers, whilst Theo Walcott will be looking to maintain the form that saw him score twice at the Etihad last weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side roll up on the back of a poor form of form on the road. The Blues have been beaten in three of their last four away games in all competitions but know that a victory will draw them level with the Gunners on 36 points. Eden Hazard will be desperate to have his say before Fantasy managers turn our attentions to the Gameweek 18 fixtures on Boxing Day.

The team news sees the hosts make four changes from the side that lost 6-3 at City last time around. Kieran Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen are drafted in for Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny at the back, with the Frenchman sidelined due to a knee wound. Mikel Arteta partners Aaron Ramsey in the double-pivot, with Mathieu Flamini dropping out, whilst Tomas Rosicky gets the nod on the left, replacing the suspended Jack Wilshere. Lukas Podolski warms the Gunners bench along with the likes of Santi Cazorla.

The Blues make three alterations from the XI that edged past Palace. Gary Cahill replaces David Luiz in defence, whilst John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard are drafted into midfield – Michael Essien drops out through suspension while Juan Mata takes his place on the bench, allowing Ramires to move onto the right of the attacking midfield three. Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto’o are also amongst the subs, with Fernando Torres leading the line again.

Once again, we’ve opened the Dugout Discussion chatroom for those partial to some real-time reaction.

If you are say about 80 points behind your ML leader, would you be tempted to captain Suarez or take a punt on:

    Walcott
    Lukaku
    Hazard
    Negredo

you've still got over half a season to go

say you have 20 gw's left that means you just need to make up 4pts per gw

seen lots on here over the last week or so keen to sell Ramsey (most are getting Walcott)

is now the time to get rid of ramsey or should we keep hold?

I'd hold, especially if you have a low buy price

he was really up the pitch last night

If anything, I'd be tempted to get rid of Ozil for Walcott.I think Ozil doesnt produce consistantly at the level expected from a 10.3 player. He seems to have a dip in form too. Not used to playing during the christams break

Agreed. No one got attacking points last night, so you can't single out Ramsey.

I don't have him.. but if I did, there's no way I'd sell!

Assume most people paid £6.5m for him... who are you going to get for better money than that? Even now, at £7.6m, he is still great value.

Now is the time it gets tricky that's for sure. Those who have had Ramsey a long time will be loathe to move him on as they'll never be able to afford getting him back (in my case 0.9).

I have Walcott but would really like to add Szczesny to Mert and double up Arsenal at the back as well as keep Theo the rest of the way.

I'd hold, no player will score big every match (except maybe Suarez!!) and you have to expect a couple of blanks, especially in tough matches. Holding fire on the transfer button this year has helped me have a great one so far!

It depends how much you see him hampering the chances of getting in "big hitters"
I've been tinkering with my team and could have a midfield of Silva, Walcott, Hazard, Ramsey and Ravel with Suarez, Rooney and Lukaku up front with cheapy defence so I would keep him.
The buy back is a major problem but considering he only cost me 6.0, I consider him to be a mid-price option, hence 3 x 9m plus players I'm able to get in.

I don't own him, but if i did, I'd be keeping him.

Especially if he was bought sub 6m, i'd look at him as a the best 4th mid available and still have 3 power mids.

I missed the boat so pride won't let me get him, but he is truly too good value to sell. IMO

I sold him for Walcott last week. I don't believe he will score points as regularly as the first half of the season. I got him in early so the "buy back" will be pricey but I decided to rather be able to chop and change between Cabaye, Snodgrass, Henderson, Hernandez etc based on form and fixtures rather than being stuck with Ramsey just cos of his price increase.

The time is neigh. I have a template midfield Hazard, Silva, Walcott, Ramsey, Budget mid. However very soon everyone will have that and its better to act fast and decisively. Ever since Walcott has come into the team I don't think Ramsey has been as affective. I really want Cabaye who is dominating and is rotation proof. Ramsey needs a rest by comparison but the question remains, do I have the balls to sell Ramsey? As a dullard, I don't think I do πŸ™

    Hello Everyone!
    I need more advice pls.

    Current Squad:
    Howard-Marshall
    Coleman-Williams-Clyne-Ward-Chester
    Ozil-Hazard-Silva-Ramsey-R.Morrison
    Suarez-Lukaku-Berbatov
    ITB: 1.0

    I was thinking of getting
    a) Cabaye + 4.2def for Ravel + Williams (-4)
    b) Upgrade/ Downgrade Defender (Clyne gives me 5.5 & Williams gives me 5.8 max)
    c) Other.

Yeah, I like him and he is uber cheap, but I need somebody nailed on, given chances of Ozil sitting out and the fact that I've got an injured Vlaar as well. I could keep Oviedo and make the move to ship Vlaar this week, but I'm aiming at a Sunderland defender for that position and don't want to do that until next week, when Sunderland gets past their Boxing Day match with Everton.

I already thought about this. Flat track bully as he is, this is definitely the kind of game for him to explode again. Only that i'd be more comfortable captaining Suarez or Lukaku.

You are basically forgoing Coleman by having those 3 big mids if you want to keep terry. I think after swans terry > Coleman can be justified but maybe best to keep him. I think he's one to keep all season.

I'm really slipping in my mini league. Need some advice on this:

    Harper cech
    Terry gj Coleman burner Moxey
    Silva Ramsey bacuna hazard ravel
    Negredo lukaku Suarez

    1.1 in bank 1ft

    Considering

    A. Bacuna > Barclay
    B. GJ > jagielka or distan
    C. Save

Any advice would be appreciated on which of the above or indeed a totally different move.
