Captain Sensible – Gameweek 24

Filed under: Members - Posted by: In Tommy We Trust

Our Gameweek regular for members is rolled out once again ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Liverpool’s trip to West Brom sees Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge place highly in the Captain Poll, whilst United’s visit to Stoke also supplies our analysis with a couple of popular contenders. Arsenal’s home game against Palace also comes into the reckoning, whilst we also unmask this week’s “Captain Unsensible” and cite the statistics to back up our bold punt:

    Eriksen + Dzeko

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Silva and Adebayor.

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
    2. Eriksen and Dzeko are in better form but only draw back is Dzeko is likely to get rotated and you never know when it will happen.

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
  2. Football in Italy really has gone down from the days I was watching it as a kid......signing a lad who cant even get in Fulhams XI he goes to AC Milan! :/

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
  6. Thoughts on Sturridge captain instead of Suarez???

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Risk it for a biscuit.

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
  7. If you have Suarez, no Arsenal attackers, but a City player in MF, would you rather have:

    1) Studge
    2) Giroud
    3) Negredo or Dzeko

    for the next few wks?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. This is what I'm struggling with. I have Suarez and Bony and need to get rid of Aguero. I have mids of Haz,, YaYa, Mata, Eriksen, and Noone.

I could sit tight this week and play 3-5-2 since Noone has a good fixture. Or I could go Aguero to either Sturridge or Giroud. I'm leaning towards Giroud, but he doesn't seem to get a lot of love.

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. Giroud isn't bad at all...he just isn't explosive and has a lot of pts. competition on his team...also, cruddy fixtures upcoming. Studge has been an absolute monster all season and he's the one I'm leaning toward (I don't see Pool's attack slowing down any time soon and those 2 tend to hog the goals/assists).

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
        1. Good point. I don't have any Arsenal attackers, but I think I'm okay with that. I may go Sturridge this week and bench Noone (or bench Bony). Then, next week go Dzeko for Bony and maybe even Lallana for Noone, still leaving me with 0.3 in the bank.

That would give me a front 8 of Haz, YaYa, Mata, Eriksen, Lallana, Sturridge, Suarez, Dzeko and just one -4 hit to do it.

          Not bad, right?

          • 2 years, 7 days ago
          1. Pretty damned good front eight (I prefer a studly front seven instead w a 5th mid who is cheap, but serviceable - Don't like leaving high salaried players on the bench, ever)...but try not to plot out too far ahead...each week brings new injuries and issues as we've seen in the last 3 weeks.

I too can live without Arsenal attackers for now...

            • 2 years, 7 days ago
            1. I hear you on the 4 + 1 in the mid, which is why I have Noone. My defenders aren't great, but serviceable so maybe I could invest there. My thinking on getting the solid 5 in the midfield is in case of rotation risk for the teams playing CL, Europa, FA Cup, etc. So, if YaYa, Haz, or Eriksen don't play the occasional EPL match, I'd still have a really solid replacement. Makes for a selection headache each week, though. Here's my defense in case you'd want to comment:

              GK: Mannone / McGregor (suspended)
DEF: Kol, Azpi, Gab, Vlaar, Bruce

              • 2 years, 7 days ago
              1. Yeah, your D isn't awful, nor great...Lolarov seems a good place to start upgrading (Get a nice steady 6 dollar D who you can count on each wk.)

                • 2 years, 7 days ago
                1. Good point. I had Terry and ditched him at the WC last week. Maybe go Azpi to Cahill or pick up a Southampton defender in place of Vlaar. Thanks for discussing. Not sure I've helped you, though.

                  • 2 years, 7 days ago
                  1. Oh, and, I agree on Kolarav. I fear rotation with him and I'm also looking ahead to GW28 when City won't play. Probably too far ahead to look, but hate to go into that game with 3 City (YaYa, Dzeko, Kol) and one ManU (Mata), leaving me no wiggle room.

                    • 2 years, 7 days ago
                  2. No prob!

--- I wouldnt ditch Azpi yet esp for a hit -- he's playing, which is what u need right now.

                    • 2 years, 7 days ago
  8. Aguero and kolarov to rvp and chambers worth -4?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Wouldn't get Chambers.

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. Any other suggestions at less 4mill or less?x

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
        1. I'm not an expert on super-budget Defenders, but maybe look at defenders from:

          Crystal Palace

          They all have some cheapies

          • 2 years, 7 days ago
        2. My objection to Chambers is playing time (Clyne lurks!)

          • 2 years, 7 days ago
  9. Could go Sturridge + Benteke + Yaya in for Aguero + JRod + Oscar

Defo not taking a -8 but looks pretty good to me.

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
  10. Can someone tell me what Moyes said about RVP earlier?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. That he wouldn't mind pumping his burd.

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. Haha. I got a good laugh out of that. Have a +1.

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
  11. Is a 12 point hit mental?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Yes

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
    2. All depends who for. Let's see it!

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. Ramsey to Yaya
        Aguero to Giroud
(already done Chester to Flanagan and Silva to Mata before the injuries to the latter 2. Yes, yes, my own fault...)

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
        1. I would hold off on Giroud transfer and see who Arsenal sign before deadline.

          • 2 years, 7 days ago
          1. Consider Studge instead of Giroud too, yes.

            • 2 years, 7 days ago
        2. If the guys you have coming off your bench aren't good, then yes, I wholeheartedly support your transfers.

          • 2 years, 7 days ago
          1. Thanks. Have Sturridge already.

            • 2 years, 7 days ago
    3. I am taking the same... WC at the wrong time and everyone had to get injured after WC week... :-(

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
  12. People seem to think RVP is nailed on but I think he will not play 90 mins every week as I think Moyes will ease him and Rooney back in to the team.

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. I don't think Moyes is in a great position to start treating these 2 with kid gloves...they need to be out there, starting each match.

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. He also can't afford for them both to be injured again and I can see them both being subbed during matches and sometimes not starting.

Never trust Moyes when it comes to FF is a lesson I have learned this season.

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
    2. Yeah, could do as he really needs them to be 100% for CL, it's pretty much all they have left realistically, Slowly, slowly and all that

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
  13. If you could have any midfielder for this week who would it be?

    Same question with striker 😀

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Mirallas

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
  14. Already have Suarez and Giroud... Highly tempted to bring in Sturridge for Aguero, but thinking of spreading the risk and getting in Adebayor... Who do you guys suggest?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Sturridge, after this week Giroud has some tough fixtures

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. How about I get in Ade this week and replace Giroud with Sturridge next week?

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
        1. Sturridge Suarez and Giroud this week. Then change Giroud to Dzeko next week imo

          • 2 years, 7 days ago
            • 2 years, 7 days ago
            1. No probs, Good luck

    2. Sorry. Misread this.

  15. Hey Guys,

Does anyone think it would be a mistake to take a 4 point hit to remove Aguero for Dzeko?

I have Coleman and Aguero injured and they will be replace by Januzaj and Mutch.

Anyone think it is worth it?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Def worth -4 hit with long term injuries, as long as you do not loose too much money. Remember that aguero will fall in price, and the ones you bring in probably rise

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. -4 hit taken!

2nd week running. These injuries are really hitting me hard!

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
  16. On WC - plan to keep SAS, Yaya+Eriksen+Hazard+Lallana in midfield and coleman+sagna in defense.
For swapping aguero, what do you thik best options of

    A) RvP + (noone, colback or gnabry) + 3 x cheapo defenders
    B) (JRod or Dzeko) + (Mata or Cazorla) + 2 x defenders @£4m + (Evans/Azpi/Kolarov/kosc/dawson)
    C) (benteke or ade)+ (Mata or Cazorla) + 3 x cheapo defenders + ditch mannone for harper
    C) Aguero -> rooney + (upgrade luke shaw or £ itb)

I figure city, chelsea and manu should get a few clean sheets from next GW on - not going for any defensive points in current GW

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
  17. When do the scout team come out?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
  18. Have Suarez, Bony and Aguero
Whom should I bring in for Aguero? Thinking of taking a hit and transferring out Bony too. Thoughts?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
  19. KOMPANY,TERRY OR COLEBACK(sunderland)any 2 plz help

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
      • 2 years, 7 days ago
  20. Cazorla or Lallana long term?

    • 2 years, 7 days ago
    1. Cazorla all time best but arsenals 4 midfielder r injured so.....cazorla played defencev midfielder

      • 2 years, 7 days ago
      1. 😕

        • 2 years, 7 days ago
    2. Tricky. I prefer Caz but Lallana has the best fixtures
