The Dugout Discussion – Sunday

Filed under: Dugout Discussion - Posted by: Mark

After a day of tepid Fantasy returns, Sunday arrives with a double header that looks bristling with drama and points in equal measure. Quite simply, the stakes at Old Trafford and White Hart Lane couldn’t be higher – bitter rivalries, title and European place ambitions – the ingredients are all there. Sunday really should be a treat.

It all begins in Manchester, with David Moyes’ side attempting to maintain the little momentum they’ve gathered from back-to-back away wins and three consecutive clean sheets. That record will be tested to the full by a Liverpool side that’s simply overflowing with goals, delivered in the main by the feared partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. Fantasy managers will be focused on their performances today, whilst assessing the suitability of United’s assets ahead of their double Gameweek.

The day’s events conclude at White Hart Lane the North London derby – a fixture which has rarely disappointed in recent seasons. Chelsea’s defeat to Villa will have revived Arsenal’s ambitions somewhat but Arsene Wenger’s side cannot afford to drop points against their rivals if they are to get themselves back in the race. As for Spurs, they’ll be seeking a result to aid recovery after suffering hidings from Chelsea and Benfica in the past week. A win would put them firmly back in the hunt for a top four place and keep them on Arsenal’s tail.

  1. My uninspired transfer this week:
    Puncheon -> Huddlestone :-)

    1. That could turn out to be worth at least two points more!

      1. With Puncheon not starting recently, might even be 3!

  2. Dgw Hazard or Januzaj? Not expecting two full games for Januzaj or much from Hazard either

    1. Hazard.

    2. Re-posted on new post :)

  3. Score check after bappies?

    1. Suarez may get another five points yet

    2. JWF

44 (-4) or 50+ (-4) if Suarez gets his assist.

    3. 31

    4. 53 + potential Suarez points

    5. 53 + any extra Suarez (C) points

  4. Mannone/Adrian
    Coleman/Azpil/Bardsley/Ward/Chester
    Hazzy/Silva/Yaya/Gerrard/Colback
    S Lukaku S

WC draft. where could it be improved?

  5. chambers to :

    1. distin
    2. zabaleta
    3. coloccini
    4. coleman
    5. koscielny

    ?

  6. A) Baines and Lallana (-8)

    B) Zabaleta and Silva (-12)

I know the hit for B looks silly but City do have THREE more games left than other teams

  7. Is Lescott a good idea to buy at £4.7m now Kompany is out?

  8. Merson shallup, you dullard!

    1. absolute cringefest

  9. I have amended the Liverpool formation to include Gerrard's threat from penalties and set pieces

    ----------Mignolet
    Johnson Skrtel Agger Flanagan
    Gerrard Gerrard Gerrard
    --------------Gerrard
    -----Sturridge-----Suarez
    ----------------Gerrard

  10. Lallana and Whittaker to Ki and Coleman for a -4? Bear in mind I need a midfielder I can happily stick on the bench. Here's my team:

    Mannone, Adrian
    Ward, Evra, Azpilicueta, Fonte, Whittaker
    Lallana, Yaya, Gerrard, Hazard, AJ
    Suarez, Sturridge, J. Rod

  11. Adebayor -3 bps lol

  12. A. Adrian
    B. Mannone

    for the double?

      1. Cool, which one would you start?

  13. an only see rosicky being bumped down 1 point max bonus wise, which he should then get back with the winning goal. bps look set there

  14. So I understand Sturridge didn't get a YC? I'm trailing my h2h by 1pt

    1. He did, during a celebration. Never showed on television but the announcer said so

    2. Apparently he got it in the celebrations of one of the goals. Suarez's I think.

  15. Snodgrass, Lallana and van Persie out.
    Yaya, Silva and Sturridge in.
    8 point hit.

    What do you think, guys?

  16. There's definitely an element of bias happening with these assists being given or not being given. Several Lukaku assists - from which I benefited - amongst others. FPL - corrupt to the core!!

  17. Newcastle and Aston villa Coloccini/Vlaar rotation until the end of the season looks decent:

    Newcastle: Crystal Palace (H)
    Newcastle: Everton (H)
    Villa: Fulham (H)
    Newcastle: Man Utd (H)
    Villa: Southampton (H)
    Newcastle: Swansea (H)
    Villa: Hull City (H)
    Newcastle: Cardiff City (H)

    1. Man U, Everton and Southampton aren't the best of fixtures

      1. yup, but with ivanovic and azpili also in defence, that can be decent :)

      2. have you watched Man U this year? ;-)

        1. Yup, and they seem to score most of their goals away from home :P

  18. Who will be the risers tonight then lads?

  19. Lol@Kos ditchers

    1. Lol@you for being on the wrong post

  20. Who is the best defender for DGW 31. Money no object

    1. Coleman

  21. People saying sturridge was greedy, I think Suarez was also greedy, he had a few opportunities to pass and he didn't.

  22. Doesn't look like Suarez is going to get the assist points as bonuses have been done.

  23. Mata and Lallana
    To
    Silva and Gerrard
    4 point hit

    Yes or no?

    I have Yaya

  24. I want to get Hart in, but in order to ford it should i downgrade:

    A.) Sterling (got SAS)

    B.) Lukaku

    C.) Silva (got Yaya)

    D.) Sturridge

    E.) stick with Boruc

    ???

    Ta people....
