Once again, we roll out our player picks for PlayON, the weekly Fantasy Football game, this Friday lunchtime. Scouring the PlayON Price List for potential bargains ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45 deadline, we’re backing a couple of Man United’s players to deliver the points as David Moyes’ side search for a tenth away win of the season at injury-hit Newcastle:
This week PlayON are running a FREE ENTRY, £250 POT game – pick your team and enter for free here . They are also running a competition on Facebook and Twitter – Who’s Most Expensive on PlayON this week – Rooney, Suarez or Lukaku? One correct answer wins £25 FREE – enter on Facebook here or on Twitter here.
If you’re new to PlayON, it is weekly Fantasy Football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built you can compete for cash. You can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 52% win rate up to this point. You can also create an open challenge against anyone else on the site – just click the amount you want to play for and the number of slots (number of people who can accept your challenge) on the one-on-one page .
For a more in-depth introduction to PlayON, take a look at this season’s introduction article.
Goalkeeper – John Ruddy
The Canaries stopper looks outstanding value at just 6.9m for a home clash with West Brom. Chris Hughton’s side have conceded a single goal in their last six at Carrow Road and will fancy their chances of yet another shut-out against a Baggies side that have failed to find the net in two of their last four fixtures. Cardiff’s David Marshall also sets you back 6.9m this weekend. The Bluebirds entertain Crystal Palace tomorrow, with Tony Pulis’ side scoring just once in their previous six road trips. Hull’s Steve Harper looks set to benefit from Allan McGregor’s potential season-ending ending and is available for 6.7m ahead of the visit of Swansea.
Defender – Patrice Evra
The United left-back comes in at just 7.2m for tomorrow’s trip to St James’ Park. Suspended for the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final against Bayern on Tuesday evening, Evra is set to return to the first XI as David Moyes’ side prepare to face a Magpies outfit with a single goal in their last seven matches without the injured Loic Remy. If you fancy Man City to nullify Southampton’s threat and register a sixth clean sheet in seven matches, then it’s worth noting that Vincent Kompany can be snapped up for a paltry 8.2m this time around. Turning our attentions to fortress Carrow Road once again, the Canaries left-back Martin Olsson is also a real budget option and costs just 7.7m for the Baggies’ visit.
Midfielder – Juan Mata
We’re also backing United’s record signing to deliver this weekend. Ineligible for the midweek clash with Bayern, Mata is well rested and with Robin Van Persie still injured, he’s finally starting to deliver from his preferred role in “the hole” behind Wayne Rooney. Priced at 9.8m, he arrives at St James’ Park in buoyant mood after opening his United account last weekend and will be hoping to take advantage of a Magpies backline that has shipped seven goals in the last two league matches. Further down the price brackets, Lewis Holtby comes in at 8.8m for Fulham’s trip to Villa Park. The midfielder’s all-round game is favoured by the PlayON scoring matrix and, despite failing to deliver a goal or assist against Everton last Sunday, the German international still earned 1,000 points. Marc Albrighton is one to watch for Villa’s home game with Fulham. Setting you just back 8.1m, his delivery from the right could prove vital for the midlands outfit as they look to register a third home win in four against the basement-dwellers.
Forward – Emmanuel Adebayor
Having missed the last couple of league games with a heel injury, the Tottenham frontman has returned to full training ahead of Monday’s visit of Sunderland. Available for just 10.3m, Adebayor is expected to lead the line against the Black Cats once again as he look to return to the form which has harvested 11 goals and four assists in 18 appearances under Tim Sherwood this season. With three goals in his last three league matches, Edin Dzeko is proving crucial to Man City’s title tilt. Priced at 11.8m, the Bosnian looks set to retain his starting role once again as Southampton roll up to the Etihad in tomorrow lunchtime’s early kick-off. Grant Holt could be a real punt at 8.6m for Aston Villa’s home game with Fulham. With Christian Benteke ruled out for the season with an Achilles injury and Gabby Agbonlahor doubtful due to illness, the former Norwich forward is likely to be handed a rare start for the midlands outfit against Felix Magath’s strugglers.
