The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 34

Our weekly attempt to get the better of Paddy sees us target two of the bottom three, before turning our attentions to the summit for the weekend’s big event. We look to the Scout Picks for inspiration and place our faith on a Toffees full-back, Southampton’s skipper and a certain South American as Liverpool square up to City at Anfield:

We begin at the Stadium of Light, where out-of-sorts Sunderland entertain Everton. Paddy are offering 9/1 on Leighton Baines to score and the Toffees to register a clean sheet. Given that the Black Cats have scored once in their last three home games, a shut-out for the visitors could well be on the cards, and with Baines’ free-kicks and set-pieces always liable to pose a threat, we’re happy to hand Paddy £3 of our kitty.

Next up, we target Southampton’s plum home tie with Cardiff – a side that look destined for the Championship under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Paddy are offering 11/2 on Adam Lallana to score and Mauricio Pochettino’s team to keep out their Welsh opponents. The Saints skipper is in fine form right now, scoring in two of the last three Gameweeks, and with the Bluebirds blanking in three of their five road trips under the Norwegian’s guidance, we make this our favoured bet of the week and stick £4 on it.

Our final £3 is kept for Sunday’s top-of-the-table showdown at Anfield, as Liverpool go head-to-head with Manchester City. Paddy are willing to offer 20/1 on Luis Suarez to score at least two goals and Liverpool to keep a clean sheet against their title rivals. Granted, it’s a bit of a long shot, this one, given City’s recent form in front of goal, but Suarez could easily keep his side of the bargain, whilst the Reds have registered three shut-outs in the last six, so we’re willing to give it a whirl.

    Cannot make a decision... H3LP !

Is there anyone likely to give me a return on a -4hit to rid Hazard.

I have Yaya, Silva, Mutch, Januzaj. I'm at limit of Everton and City

Mutch should get me 2 points so therefore i really need a 6 point return but will have an empty bench.

For this week I prefer Lallana but next week I prefer Gerrard. As there are 4 points at stake I would probably just stick with Gerrard and either bench him today or hope Liverpool will get 1-2 penalties.

With my team I have benched Gerrard today and am playing Barkley in his place. Will keep Gerrard 1 more week and then switch for Mata unless something causes me to change my mind before then.

Bringing in Aguero, is it a must? Dzeko is playing decent & Jovetic seems to be doing ok off the bench, just worried he'll not play many minutes in the double. Do we think Pellegrini will use him wisely or just go for it?

This is a silly question, but since Terry is in doubt. I want to arrange my bench, so I get:

    A. Olsson (ful)
    B. Vlaar (cpl)

    How would you arrange it?

I am reading that Boruc probably wont play, and I have to change him for Speroni for another -4 which makes -12. :\ But,if Gazzaniga play,he is very bad goalkeeper,so it give Mutch chances for some points..I think I am gonna play Mutch instead of Gerrard

    Captaincy Options

    Lukaku

    - 3 Goals, 2 Assists, 6 Bonus points in the last 4 games.
Seems to be in good form
    - Plays sun/CPL
    - Everton average 2.5 goals per game in the last 6 games

    - Has only scored 1 goal against the bottom seven clubs ( This includes both Palace and Sunderland)

The safe bet. Good form. Great fixtures ( though to be fair, Palace are no pushovers). Although seems to have trouble scoring against the lower sides.

SUNDERLAND - Conceded 11 goals in the last 4 games
Palace - Conceded 1 goal in the last 4 games

    Aguero

    - 4 Goals and 3 Bonus in his last 4 games ( In 212/ 360 Minutes) Though, bear in mind this is quite some time ago.
    - Plays liv/SUN
    - City average 2.7 goals per game in the last 6 games
    - Should have penalties when on the pitch

    - Has failed to complete 90 minutes since the 7th of December
    - Hasn't played in the PL since the 7th of Jan
    - Not guaranteed to play 180 minutes, or even start both games.

SUNDERLAND - Conceded 11 goals in the last 4 games
Liverpool - Conceded 5 goals in the last 4 games

The flair pick. High Risk High Reward.

    Baines

    - 2 Clean sheets, 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 0 Bonus points
    - Plays sun/CPL
    - Everton average 2.5 goals per game in the last 6 games
    - Looks good for 2 CS this DGW
    - Sunderland average 0.93 goals per game at home
    - Palace average 0.53 goals per game away
    - Set pieces + Penalties

    - 51 Chances conceded in the last 4 games for Everton. Maybe he isn't guaranteed a Clean sheet?
( Thanks for the stat Wakey )

SUNDERLAND - Conceded 11 goals in the last 4 games
Palace - Conceded 1 goal in the last 4 games

I've left out Yaya, as I couldn't be bothered to continue. So I apologise for that 😀

    To summarise,

Lukaku looks the safest option, and a great pick if you're looking to maintain a lead

Aguero and Baines the risky options, that could pay off big. The Captains you would go for if you were chasing in a ML, or looking to climb up the ranks.
That stat that Wakey pointed out is pretty interesting though, and made me doubt wether Baines was as good a (C) option this week.

Personally, I'm going for Aguero because I'm chasing in my ML and my ML leader has captained Lukaku and I don't have Lord Leighton Baines.

    Cheers

    Mutch(sot) Yaya(liv,SUN) Gerrard(MCI)
    Lukaku(sun,CPL) Lambert(CAR) Adebayor(wba)

Thinking Yaya captain or else Lukaku. Been stung by Lukaku before though. .5 in the bank.

Bench is Whittaker, Januzaj and Hazard(as he is a doubt)
