We roll out the draw for the Eighth Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, this afternoon, with the finishing line almost in sight:

In the former competition, we’re now down to the last eight competitors. One of the remaining ties see two of the top 10,000 FPL managers, Rozzop and Gribude, go head-to-head, with the former, who sits in 2,727th spot, the highest-ranked manager remaining.

Attila the Bum squares up to rank outsider xildor (sitting in 36,111th position spot) in fine form, with the former serving up 95 points in the previous Gameweek.

The other two ties see manehi and Woeisme and caio89 and 1nozza battle it out for a place in the final four, with the latter’s 74 point-haul in Gameweek 35 the lowest tally of any of our last eight.

A full list of last week’s results is here, and the draw for the Eighth Round, which kicks off this Saturday lunchtime at St Mary’s and lasts right through to Monday evening, when Arsenal welcome out-of-sorts Newcastle to the Emirates, can be found here.

In the FFS Members Cup IV, we’re now down to the last four managers. Spencer – the highest ranked remaining manager in 554th spot overall – takes on Sandgrounder, who was late week’s top-scoring manager with 80 points, for a place in the final. The other semi-final sees old-school poster Shipsontrev take on Trigg – despite the difference in their ranks (689 v 99,744) this looks a close one, given that the pair progressed with 75 points and 74 points respectively last weekend.

You can click here to check out the Eighth Round draw, which gets underway this weekend, whilst the full list of Seventh Round results can be found here.

As always, good luck to all those still in with a shout of the silverware.

  1. Would you be happy with this for this gw??

    Mannone (CARDIFF)

Shaw (EVERTON) /// Coleman (southampton) /// Demichelis (palace)

AJ (CARDIFF) /// Ramsey (NEWC) /// Gerrard (CHE) /// Eriksen (stoke)

Suarez (CHE) /// Aguero (palace) /// Lukaku (southamton)

Should i do a -4 to bring in an Arsenal defender/forward?

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. A stronger defence than most.

      Pretty template midfield.

Very vunerable if Man Utd score goals. That would be my main concern.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. The template has been working for some time, have held onto AJ for fixtures like this... Not many others have him around here. He's gonna do soemthing big this GW I think.

        Not worried by Man U.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
        1. If you're not worried by Man Utd then fine but its risky as loads will captain Rooney.

I've got the same front 7 but with Lallana instead of Gerrard. I'll also be getting Rooney in for Lukaku for a -4.

          • 1 year, 9 months ago
    2. AJ is a good differential, plus DGW next week

      • 1 year, 9 months ago

Play Gerrard + Sterling or sterling + yaya (-4)

    1. Ta muchly, A it is then

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
  5. I think its better to play Azpi than Chester in DGW..but I have a big dilema who to bench:

    I think I will bench Chester,Puncheon and Suarez :)

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
  6. Benfica 2-1 Juventus. Full time.

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
  7. Lukaku to Rooney for -4?

Rooney 3 home games next 2 GW vs Lukaku 2 games, 1 being against Man City.

My reasoning Roo should score more points surely?

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. yep, all day.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
    2. Yes

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. I think I'm going to do it. Lallana to Ramsey would be the first FT.

        Thanks all.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
  8. Is dumping Eriksen wise for the greater good?

    GW36: Eriksen > Ramsey
GW37: Lukaku > Rooney, Coleman > 5.1m (Smalling, Evans, Flanagan)

    Giving me:

    Mannone (Marshall)
    Zabaleta Azpilicueta Chester (5.1m Ward)
    Mata Nasri Ramsey Sterling (Adam)
    Suarez Rooney Aguero

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. I was toying with the same thing considering the two away games. I've got bigger fish to fry though. Definitely wouldn't have him top of the watchlist although the watchlist selections have been pretty poor for some time now.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. Stoke conceded 1 in last 4 at home and only Liverpool have better home form in last 6. Eriksen quite likely to blank this week.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
  9. Is it worth going double City defence for the run in? Demi and Zaba? I don't trust the midfield atm with the injury concerns but want 3 for the DGW

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. No clean sheet in 5 :s

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
    2. Considering it...They've been a bit shonky recently though.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
    3. I already have Zaba and Demi has a good ppg score and can grab the odd goal. But the no clean sheet in 5 stat is definitely putting me off...

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
  10. Have I got the right starting 11 and subs bench?

    Ward Coleman vlaar
    Eriksen yaya Nasri Ramsey
    Suarez (c) aguero lukaku

    Speroni puncheon bardsley MOlsson

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. I'd play Bardsley over Ward or Vlaar.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. I'm a Villa fan and agree with this. Bony will score I think

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
    2. Cheers guys

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
  11. Just looking back at Southampton's results this season...Pochetino has had a lot of praise, and they've got some eye catching players, but how many truly impressive results have they pulled off? Not many, to my mind. And they spent big too. They've been overrated for my money.

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. started strongly but have really come up short in matches they should have controlled or won.......expect them to do better tho

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
    2. They were sublime earlier in the season. Could say they've been on their holidays since then, as they've been around 8th for so long.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. This is true

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
      2. Played some good stuff, but check out the actual results. Drew at home to Sunderland and West ham early on, lost at Norwich. GW5-7 was their longest winning run all year, then they didn't win more than one in a row until 29 and 30.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
    3. It's all about their style of play and the amount of academy players they've played. I can understand what you're saying but they've done brilliantly in my eyes seeing as they were in league 1 not too long ago! Norwich, Cardiff etc also spent big....

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. Yeah maybe I phrased it wrong. Where they are is amazing considering where they were, and didn't intend to take anything from the CLUB. It was more questioning Pochetino as the Hipster's Favourite.

Next season will show whether he is really as good as a lot of people think. And who knows, maybe he is...

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
    4. Such revisionist tosh. If he's overrated why were people mad that Adkins was sacked? He's improved the team loads. He's spent money, yes but only comparable to those around him. He may not have got many impressive results but winning the majority of matches you are expected to win is hardly easy.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. I'm not saying he's necessarily a bad coach, far from it. I just see a lot of people hyping him up, talking about him as a candidate for Spurs etc, and I just think the jury is still out.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
    5. Loadsa money, but they still dipped into the championship to pull JRod out of the hat.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. Signed by Adkins

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
      2. And all the academy players! A club with a great philosophy in my view. Already produced Bale, Walcott and Ox, then add Shaw, Lallana, Chambers etc to that mix and they really deserve some credit! I love how they trust and play their youngsters rather than loan them out and have them play a completely different brand of football

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
  12. My team took a bit of a battering at the weekend. Currently have this:

    Baines, Kolarov, Ivanovic
    Mirallas*, Silva*, Mata, Sterling
    Suarez, Aguero, Lukaku

    3.9m, Azpi, Olsson, Noone*

1 FT but with the injuries and DGWs next week with swings in the fixtures this week for Utd and Sunderland I have to spend some points.

Silva and Mirallas must go, I think for Nasri and Ramsey
On top of this I have double Chelsea defence, think I sell Ivan for Alonso, which in turn finances Lukaku to Rooney

So this would be -12 and sets me up for the doubles. I could just do the 2 midfield transfers for -4 but would prefer Rooney to Lukaku.

    Thoughts would be appreciated

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. well theyre all solid transfers.......id just do the -4, but if you must, go for broke

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. At the weekend Ivanovic will probably get 1 point and rabies from Suarez, Alonso has 3 good homes games and finances Rooney who should outscore Lukaku with the extra game. I think the extra -8 can pay off.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
    2. i would just lose the two mids this week. nasri and ramsey sounds good.

would wait to see the lay of the land under giggs before getting rooney and a hit for a defender is never good

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. lay of the land under giggs............. must. resist. joke.......

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
      2. Yeah I'm wondering if its best to wait on Utd for a week. Thing is, at home to Norwich after the players seem to have received a morale boost could be a points bonanza.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
        1. its where rooney will play that is the issue for me. I think welbeck will go up front the stories from the weekend.

also norwich looked good for large periods vs liverpool. not sure it will be the walkover people are expecting

          • 1 year, 9 months ago
          1. I'd be tempted to get Welbeck and save on the defender transfer but with Rooney he's pretty much guaranteed to start and has pens and some set pieces with RVP out. Even if he's playing deeper there are several ways he can score points.

I'm not confident in Welbeck starting every game. As a Utd fan, do you think he will?

            • 1 year, 9 months ago
    3. Good moves but I baulk at -12.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. So do I, 3 midfielders injured for the season though (maybe Silva returns GW38 but he can't be held)

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
  13. Is it worth doing Collins to koscienly for -4 ?

    • 1 year, 9 months ago

  14. Any love for this lot?

    Bardsley, Coleman, Ivan
    Ramsey, Mata, Nasri, Gerrard
    Aguero, Rooney, Podolski

    Seems a bit ordinary

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
  15. Ozil.

    This is the week.

  16. New Post
  17. Sometimes, before a Prem game, they show the players warming up doing routines with some kind of band around their legs. Seems to me that that is utterly silly and useless. Discuss....

    • 1 year, 9 months ago
    1. And...............................................nevermind.

      • 1 year, 9 months ago
      1. It is silly and useless though.............ha, ha. I'm having my own dialogue.....so I guess it's a monologue......which tells me maybe I should just "logue" off. Out to some yard work.

        • 1 year, 9 months ago
  18. Just mulling over line up and currently going with this -

    Mannone (Adrian)
    Baines shaw kosc (Coleman ward)
    Eriksen mata nasri Johnson (mutch)
    Rooney (c) Suarez aguero

4 pt hit taken and ml rival (31 behind) has gone minus 8.

Don't like not owning Ramsey and think rival will have got rid of silva, mirallas and Sturridge to Ramsey plus maybe Rooney and mata/eriksen but thinking Davies (hull) in next week for Coleman for DGW.

Any thoughts appreciated as I can almost feel the cash coming my way
