It’s Gameweek 7 in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game and our teams should be starting to take shape after an initial settling-in period. As always, we bring you the usual info from last week, looking at the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends before taking a look at the Scout team and our plans for the week ahead.

Gameweek 6 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures, achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
QPR vs StokePeter Crouch
Aston Villa vs ArsenalMesut Ozil
Burnley vs SunderlandDavid Jones
Newcastle vs HullPapiss Cisse
Swansea vs SouthamptonVictor Wanyama
West Ham vs LiverpoolDiafra Sakho
Leicester vs Man UnitedJamie Vardy
Tottenham vs West BromJoleon Lescott
Everton vs Crystal PalaceYannick Bolasie
Man City vs ChelseaJames Milner

Lots of low-ownership players flew the flag last week, with Mesut Ozil the most popular amongst the MoTM winners at just 1.2%. If the German can rediscover some form and continue to influence the proceedings like he did against Villa, then he could become a good option once again – however, with Aaron Ramsey still ticking over and providing bonus points and with Theo Walcott due back relatively soon, it’s probably best to hang fire for now and reassess after Arsenal’s fixtures take a turn for the better in Gameweek 10.

Gameweek 6 Bonus Points

Five goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves. Tom Heaton and Vito Mannone were the best performers, both making six saves in total and keeping a clean sheet.

In defence, 15 players grabbed bonus, five for tackles and ten for passes completed – Leighton Baines was the closest to getting both, missing out by just one completed tackle. Liverpool’s Javier Manquillo currently sets the precedent with eight bonus points so far.

In midfield, there were 17 beneficiaries in total: eight for tackling and ten for passes. James Milner was handed a rare start last weekend and the City midfielder duly delivered, grabbing bonus in both categories, adding to his MoTM and assist to bring home a tasty 14 points. Morgan Schneiderlin leads the way overall with 14 additional points – a couple more than Aaron Ramsey.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers

AmatSwansea4.72.55%
SturridgeLiverpool9.82.20%
JoveticMan City7.92.19%
FalcaoMan United9.41.98%

The top four here are all on the physio’s table, with Daniel Sturridge perhaps the likeliest to feature in the coming weeks. Some owners of Radamel Falcao seem to have already knee jerked the Colombian out following limited appearance time whilst he builds his fitness – ahead of a home tie to West Ham it looks a brave move with the loan signing expected to start.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
CostaChelsea9.56.63%
Di MariaMan United8.65.06%
HuttonAston Villa3.83.58%
UlloaLeicester6.73.41%
PelleSouthampton7.43.19%

Diego Costa, Angel di Maria and Alan Hutton all feature again this week as they continue to attract investment. Costa in particular is in 43% of teams across the game and will likely be most Fantasy managers’ captain this week. Leonardo Ulloa and Graziano Pelle are in fine form and offer a good opportunity to take advantage of the new 3-4-3 formation this season due to their low cost, something I’m considering myself.

Notes

It was a pretty poor scoring week across the board for most Fantasy managers. I managed to get 46 points, with a Nikica Jelavic captain punt my main source of points – the only other players returning anything of note were Patrick van Aanholt, with a clean sheet, and Raheem Sterling, who notched Liverpool’s consolation at West Ham.

In terms of transfers, I have bitten the bullet on Yaya Toure and drafted in Kevin Mirallas, who instantly let me down by being handed a sub appearance at home to Palace. I still wanted some Man City cover, though, so went for Sergio Aguero and hopefully he can stay fit and bring home some points in the coming weeks. Not having Diego Costa is my biggest concern going into the weekend but I need to slow down in terms of transfers used and will try and resist the urge to bring him in, wish me luck!

Captain Plan
My plan for Saturday is to give the armband to Eden Hazard (11%) and hope he provides me with a differential over the 42%-owned Diego Costa and 30%-owned Cesc Fabregas. This week could end up being quite a defining one in my season – if Hazard blanks again and the aforementioned two go crazy I’ll end up severely lagging behind but I’ll try to remain optimistic, as the alternative, of course, could be a significant climb in rank.

It will be just the one captain for me this week as Sunday and Monday’s matches lack good long-term options in my opinion and I’m trying to cut down on transfers. Instead, I’ll use my captain swap after all the fixtures are over and, before Friday at 00:00, will swap to either Sterling or Aguero for next Saturday’s action.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and we’re currently topping the Private League rankings as per usual. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday you can catch Fenners and Merse at 18:30 on SkySports One HD on The Fantasy Football Club show, where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, quizzing former Aston Villa, Leicester and Coventry striker Dion Dublin and asking him for his #One2Eleven.

Still torn between final choice this week. Pelle/welbeck or ulloa.

Edging towards ulloa after initially having him last pick during the week. I'm not sure I trust Pelle enough yet and welbeck has tricky fixtures.
