Here’s my regular look at the success or otherwise of last week’s most popular transfers. Listed below are the top-five transfers in and out ahead of the Gameweek 6 fixtures (excluding injured and suspended players). Remember, though, this is just for fun and there is plenty of time for any of the transfers below to pay off.

GAMEWEEK 6 RESULTS

Rank / player / net transfers / GW6 pts

In

  1. Leonardo Ulloa / +397,648 / 2
  2. Angel Di Maria / +284,484 / 2
  3. Nathaniel Clyne / +249,409 / 1
  4. Morgan Schneiderlin / +148,866 / 2
  5. Diego Costa / +138,812 / 6

Out

  1. Steven Naismith / -220,014 / 2
  2. Juan Mata / -93,570 / 0
  3. Aaron Ramsey / -87,561 / 1
  4. Dejan Lovren / -76,813 / 2
  5. Wayne Rooney / -73,379 / 2

Honourable mentions

  • Graziano Pelle / +126,760 / 9
  • David Silva / -35,114 / 8

Reflecting the low-scoring Gameweek, only Diego Costa delivered from the top-five most popular transfers in, whilst all the top-five players sold blanked this week.  There’ll be plenty of disappointed new owners out there but no regrets from those with the foresight/luck to have sold Aaron Ramsey and Wayne Rooney last week.

SEASON RECAP SO FAR

I’ve extended my analysis back to the start of the season to get a running total, which I’ll keep updated from now on.

Total score (Gameweek / Top five transfers IN / Top 5 transfers OUT)

  • Gameweek 2 / 25 / 26
  • Gameweek 3 / 22 / 29
  • Gameweek 4 / 22 / 25
  • Gameweek 5 / 18 / 17
  • Gameweek 6 / 13 / 7
  • Overall total / 100 / 104

So far there is a slight overall lead for the players who’ve been transferred out over those brought in but the difference is very small. As it stands patience continues to be a virtue for Fantasy managers.

Gameweek 7 BANDWAGONS

It looks like being a busy week of transfers as people deal with the Ramsey- and Rooney-shaped holes in their line-ups.  At the time of writing the most popular signings have been Graziano Pelle, Leonardo Ulloa and Edin Dzeko, with plenty of options to choose from in midfield.

Patience is necessary, and one cannot reap immediately where one has sown. Unless you binned Rooney for Pelle last week. Binned Ramsey too. Mix of luck & foresight for me. Huzzah! Cheers Sticky, interesting stats, look forward to your next instalment.

Me too. Roo/Ram > Pelle/ADM for a hit worked out perfectly.

Love your article. It would, however, be a lot more telling to see what happens with the transfers over a longer period than just the one week.

I have wildcard in play, do I go for Sakho or Ulloa to partner Pelle and Costa?
