FFS UEFA Hockey World Cup 2014 – Matchday 3

Here’s our regular update on the competition, featuring a look at the Matchday 2 games that took place over Gameweek 6. We also have some fun handing out some Matchday Awards and a look ahead to Matchday 3. Please use this article for all tournament chat.

MATCHDAY 2 RESULTS

The final Matchday 2 results have been updated in the Cup spreadsheet and we can reveal that, after a hard-fought first round, India and New Zealand top Groups A and B respectively. Congratulations to all the victorious teams and a reminder to those that lost that we still have a majority of the games to go in the group stages.

UPDATE ON TFF’S QUIZ

If you haven’t checked out The Fantasy Freak’s new quiz initiative to further fuel the team spirit in this arena, do so now – TFF’s Quizzes are back with a twist. He conducted a couple of quizzes over the week and here is what the Hockey World Cup leader board looks like:

MATCHDAY 2 AWARDS

We have also  launched some Matchday awards to reward teams, managers, captains and players for their contributions over the week.

Louis van Gaal Award for the best attack – Spain with 531 goals

A Rainy Night at Britannia award for the Best defence – India and New Zealand conceding just 460 goals

Salma Hayek Overnight Award for the player of the week – Jonty (Malaysia) with 60 goals…all in vain.

SAF Award – Five managers share the award, all with a mindblowing 98% rating: Declan (Spain), Parmtree (Malaysia), Shipstontrev (Belgium), Zep (New Zealand), Ellipsis (Argentina)

Jose Mourinho Award for the best press conference of the week – Ellipsis (Argentina) with a record +13 votes

Hot Urine Treatment for the highest point scorer on the bench – Ray Allen Iverson (South Africa) with 61 goals…once again defeating the winner of the Salma Hayek Overnight award.

Dalglish Differential for the worst team selection – Lee Sha-do (Korea) with 90% manager rating

LINE-UP SUBMISSION

All managers are requested to email me their four substitutes and their Fantasy Premier League IDs before the deadline of Friday, 03 Oct, 2359 BST. In case he or she  fails to do so, the autosubs will be the last four players on the Squads Page.

Managers may also be likely to post any pressers on this article here. So be on the watch for latest team news, especially from your rivals. As previously, please keep all the match day banter on this thread.
