PlayON Picks – Gameweek 17 – £350 FREEROLLS, OVER £2,000 GUARANTEED POTS

Our Friday lunchtime regular arrives once again, as we take a look at the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have now extended their deadline for submitting your teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – so tomorrow that’s right up to 12.45, with Man City hosting Crystal Palace in the Gameweek’s early kick-off.

PlayON also has FREEROLL games and Guaranteed Pot games running each week for the rest of the season at www.PlayON.co .This week they have £350 in Freerolls and over £2,000 in Guaranteed Pots on offer – to get your free entry into the Freerolls just follow them on Twitter at twitter.com/PlayON and like them on Facebook at facebook.com/PlayON.

Goalkeeper – Adrian
The West Ham stopper looks an excellent value option between the posts this weekend for a home encounter with basement-dwellers Leicester. Priced at just 6.9, Adrian has conceded just twice in his last five home matches and with the visitors scoring a mere four goals on their travels all season, Big Sam’s side will be optimistic of earning another clean sheet. Man City’s home encounter with Crystal Palace cannot be ignored. With question marks hovering over Manuel Pellegrini’s back-four, we’re not prepared to take any risks here and have opted for the security of Joe Hart for the Etihad encounter – available for 8.2m, he’s conceded only once in the last four Gameweeks.

Defender – Phil Jones
Having returned from injury in the previous Gameweek, the Man United defender comes in at a very budget-friendly 7.1m for the trip to Villa Park. The Red Devils have embarked on a six-match winning run ahead of their midlands clash, shipping just three goals over that period, and bearing in mind that Paul Lambert’s side have scored only six times in front of their own fans, Louis van Gaal’s side will be optimistic of repelling their struggling hosts. Tottenham’s Ben Davies is also on our Gameweek 17 radar. Despite starting each of the last five league matches, he sets you back just 6.3m ahead of a plum home clash against Burnley – with a clean sheet and assist in his previous two, Davies offers points potential at both ends of the pitch.

Midfielders – Frank Lampard
We’re taking a punt on City’s veteran for the home clash against Palace tomorrow. Lampard took his tally to four strikes for the season last weekend – equalling Yaya Toure’s league haul – and his eye for goal in and around the box could make the difference as the champions attempt to restructure after losing all three first-team strikers to injury. Whilst Toure’s dead-ball duties hold appeal, Lampard, at a price of 7.4m to the Ivorian’s 14.3m, could prove excellent value against an Eagles defence with a single clean sheet in 10 attempts. Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen is our essential midfielder for the visit of Burnley. With three goals and a pair of assists in his last five appearances, the Dane’s revival as a Fantasy asset has been music to the ears of managers – priced at 11.0 in this week’s PlayON Player Price List, he faces a defence that have registered a single shut-out on their travels all season.

Forwards – Charlie Austin
Back after serving a one-match suspension for last Monday’s trip to Everton, the QPR top scorer will be eager to atone for lost time. Priced at just 8.6m, Austin has racked up five goals and a pair of assists in the previous four matches in front of his own fans and will fancy his chances of producing again as West Brom roll up to Loftus Road. Having overlooked Stewart Downing in the centre of the park, we turn to his West Ham team-mate Diafra Sakho to lead the line instead. Coming in at a cut-price 8.1m, the Senegal striker has scored in all but one of his six Upton Park appearances and with sidekick Andy Carroll also set to terrorise the Leicester defence, Sakho has every chance of getting amongst the goals yet again.

Head over to www.PlayON.co and get your teams in for the £350 in Freerolls and £2,000 in guaranteed pots.

Having a real selection headache this week!

One of these lot have to be on the bench:

    Downing, Eriksen, Hazard, Fabregas, Sanchez.

    Sakho, Austin, Bony.

Right now I think it has to be Hazard (poor away from) or Sanchez (Liverpool away)

But then the voice at the back of my head tells me it's insane to rest one of those two... isn't it?

    1. Baggers
      • 14 Years

Thats an horrible decision to make, kinda with you on the Haz front but most will say how can you bench 10m+ player!

      1. Deep Sea Amphipod
        • 10 Years

I'd bench Fab ahead of Haz, and also Downing/Bony probably despite the fixtures.

I guess my question is what makes you think Sakho is going to have much success against Chelsea's defense? That seems unlikely...

The thing is, 10m+ or not his last 5 away games read 3,2,2,3,2.

Pretty grim, now look at the fixtures those relate to: Villa, Man U, Liv, Sun, New.

Those teams are leaky as hell! I know at this stage I'm probably just convincing myself, but on that form how can you justify picking him until this improves?

Hazard & Sanchez should be first on the team sheet. I'd bench Downing out of that lot

I feel your pain! I have 7 of your 8 with Yaya instead of Fab. I'm currently benching Bony despite his great consistency. Think benching Haz or Sanchez could backfire...

Not sure y some people pay 10.8m for yaya and have doubt captaining him in a home game against palace...more irony is that the other captain options are not clearly outstanding.

Nth really change for yaya..on pens fk..could be pushed in front more than usual..

Feels lyk some people are just fearful of not having him rather than thinking that he will score big

So how many points u predict for yaya?

      2. Camp No No
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

No. On the logic that it's a bad captain week, but YaYa just happens to play at home against a bottom-6 club, potentially AMC too, having penalties and free kicks. If you won't trust enough to captain him in that situation, why are you paying 10.8 for him? You could use that money to upgrade two players from your current squad to players that you're trust to deliver in these matches.

        1. money face bandwagon
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 5 months ago

precisely..if u pay that much money u would expect him to score a goal at least against the palace..which is 8-9pts.

do u see any other captaincy option that would give u >10pts? i would not think so confidently.

Any suggestions for this lot? Think I'm going to be saving a FT unless anything stands out as obviously wrong

    Foster
    Baines Azpi Yun
    Hazard Sanchez Downing Siggy
    RVP (c) Austin Costa

    (Krul, Bertrand, Boyd, Hutton)

Yaya owners...who is captaining? I think I am leaning away from it...

I am captaining, but have waffled all week long b/w Yaya, Hazard and Sanchez. Currently, my C is is on Yaya

I guess it depends heavily on the other options. RVP and Austin perhaps better picks? I am just worried that Yaya is just too unreliable unless there is a pen.

If I had RVP, I'd captain him. He is more likely to score at least one goal, and just as likely, if not more so, to have a big game. I do not have RVP, and am currently captaining Yaya, but still may switch for the 88th time to Hazard. I think Yaya is a boom or bust type move. Given Man City's strength, fixture, and the fact that Yaya and others need to fill the offensive void of Aguero, and Yaya's historical production, it does seem a pretty decent choice.

owner here and not worried, he's been so good to the team I'd be surprised if he's benched.

I think his away stats are overrated. They are real, but the player is a top scorer, in form, and on a top team that scores lots of goals. He comes awfully close, too, so it's not like he's invisible on the pitch in away games. I think it's the best differentiator move this week, as most others are placing huge weight on his lack of real production in away fixtures.
