Our Sunday delve into the members data arrives once again this evening. We cast an analytical eye over Tottenham’s goalscoring playmaker, Palace’s in-form frontman and the Magpies’ flourishing Frenchman, whilst the worrying form of Villa’s misfiring target man and United’s skipper give cause for concern.

I'm surprised to see Eljero Elia being put in so many wildcard teams. Yes, he scored two goals against Newcastle, but the full picture is a little different.

Elia has really only had one and a half good seasons out of seven and was awful in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen. Admittedly this was in a struggling team, but his attitude was very poor (unfocused, aimless, divaesque) and there's been no real development in his play for ages.

He can dribble, but hasn't developed a broad range to his passing game like Robben, so defenders work him out very quickly. Mané is very clearly a cut above him in overall play.

Elia's nearest equivalent would be to two other players whom Bremen were extremely relieved to flog to a Premier League club. On the pitch, Marko Marin, another flashy dribbler of a wide player with little end product, and - off the pitch - Marko Arnautović, in that both Elia and the Stoke midfielder always believed that everyone else in Bremen was to blame other than him.

Like Arnautović, Elia's flashy personality didn't fit a small city like Bremen - both players were suspended by Werder in 2013 for their nightly escapades. Elia also lost his driving licence in April 2014 for speeding in his red Bentley and driving with an invalid licence. Koeman is going to have his work cut out to make a team player out of him in Southampton. It could work, but the odds are against it.

In the end, Werder coach Skripnik was given clear instructions by the club management not to select him in order to force him to leave in the winter break. Despite his good start at Southampton, Bremen really don't want him back and are simply hoping to recoup as much of the €5.5 million fee as possible that they paid when signing Elia from Juventus in 2012.

Elia has had a lot of off the pitch issues whilst also never being properly understood and backed by both his previous clubs and managers. Koeman understands him and Elia said in his interview how good it feels to be backed by both club and manager again. He just needs support which he now has so I think he will do well

1 thing ive learned from fpl over the years is that every season, a January arrival explodes. Siggy was one. Cisse I think too. Tends to be players on loan playing for a contract. Also, players from bundesliga especially. And also those who are fresh. Elia ticks all these boxes. Worth a 5.5 punt with these fixtures I'd say

I agree with all that you've said there, think he's a poor pick. I do worry that he's going to be one of those that gets a run of form going, a bandwagon going, and keeps scoring flukey goals against the odds.

      - pelle is as good a punt as any. fixtures and ownership in your favor

Pelle has simply not performed up to even third striker status for months now. Certainly not "as good a punt as any" and you shouldn't be punting on strikers anyway. Gayle is punty enough.

Don't be fooled by Pelle's hot start which juiced up his numbers

Usually agree, but in this case, I can see Wham being shut out 3 times in the next 6 (liv, sot, CHE). Arguable of course, but Downing is unlikely to do much for a while IMO.

Monitor Baird tonight instead of wisdom. West brim fixtures not great! I have both, hoping for pulis effect but will ship wisdom to bellerin or chambers depending on who's nailed! Good team! Have Kane too, but slightly worried by him! Might try shoehorn giroud in somehow! Great team IMO

Cheers mate, I was tossing up getting Kosc or Bellerin, but Kosc's goal threat was too tempting... might reevalute during the week though. Will see about Baird/Wisdom after the game

Quite low considering the average. Baines & WBA defenders are left for a few.

    Lescott or Wollschied?

I'd prefer Lescott, despite the worse fixtures. I would of course prefer not to have to start either week in week out though and find funds to afford rotational partners.

No double risers from this point forward. Downing may double rise but that would include the rise he had yesterday.

Coquelin' story is quite incredible. Always thought he had big potential from his brief cameos 3 or 4 seasons ago, even when he played at full back. He had that aggressive mentality soo many say Arsenal players lack. From Charlton back to the starting 11 this season, i hope he can keep this up, he's been great.

I don't really care about the shouting, but i do like the way he's quick to close down opponents, he can cover a lot of ground. Flamini tends to back away and join the defence whereas Coquelin presses forward and protects the defence.

    My WC team so far.

    Krul, Panti
    Terry, Clyne, Wollscheid, Wisdom, Bellerin
    Sanchez, Hazard, Adm, Puncheon, Boyd
    Aguero, Berahino, Costa

Had Pva instead of Bellerin and Kane instead of Berahino but seem to like this better?

Hi guys, this is my team for next week:

    Forster (Foster)

    Bertrand / PvA / Terry (Lescott/Trippier)

    ADM / Hazard / Cesc / Sanchez(c) (Boyd)

    Falcao / Berahino / Kane

1.8m ITB and 2 FTs, WC is gone - my plan is to leave it for this GW, and then do eriksen and Aguero for ADM and Falcao the next GW - that sound sensible? Cheers

I think I have to suck it up and finally get Costa in (for good this time).

Which of Kane and Austin should go? Austin is probably safer, but I can see QPR blanking in a number of games coming up.

I had same dilemna. I went kane for a few reason.
One is cheaper, another is spurs are better than qpr.
Another was kane has had 1/2 a season and per game, beats austin.
But the clincher was austin even blanking at home now.
And his next 3 homes are Southampton, Spurs and Arsenal.
      Not great.

    Panti (Hamer)
    Terry Ivanovic Clyne (PvA Baird)
    Sanchez Hazard ADM Silva (Boyd)
    Aguero Austin Kane

    0.1m ITB, 1 FT.

    A) Save
    B) Any changes?

Really like the look of the team but the results weren't good today (39 pts with a 3pt captain included). Think I should hold the transfer TBH. Can upgrade Kane/Austin to Giroud (and downgrade someone) if they don't seem to be performing.

    Thoughts?
