We take another look around the treatment rooms this evening to assess the latest batch of injuries sustained over the weekend action. Tony Pulis has worries up front, Leighton Baines is a concern for Everton, whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson is doubtful for the Swans’ trip to Tottenham.

Arsenal
The Gunners have concerns over Francis Coquelin after the midfield battler was forced off with a broken nose against Everton. After the 2-0 win, Arsene Wenger went on to say:

“Yes [he has broken his nose]. I don’t know [how long he will be out], I hope not. I don’t know whether he will need surgery or not. They told me he was bleeding but that he could stay on. The second time he was hit again so after that I had to take him off. I had been told by the medical people that he could stay on. He wanted to stay on. He didn’t play here for a long time so now that he plays, of course he doesn’t want to come off the pitch”.

Aston Villa
Tim Sherwood’s worries at left-back continued yesterday. Deprived of both Aly Cissokho and Kieran Richardson for the trip to Newcastle, the Villa boss handed Matt Lowton a rare start only to see the defender forced off through injury in the last ten minutes of the 1-0 loss.

Crystal Palace
Jordon Mutch lasted just 32 minutes of the Eagles’ 3-1 win over West Ham before being forced off with a thigh injury.

Everton
Leighton Baines missed today’s loss at Arsenal with a leg problem sustained in training. Speaking to the club’s website, Roberto Martinez revealed the left-back has question marks hanging over his availability for the midweek trip to the Britannia:

”We tried to give Leighton a breather against Young Boys on Thursday in the Europa League so that he was fully fit for today, but unfortunately he got a knock to his left quad on Friday and was out of this squad. I don’t know if he is going to be available for Wednesday – I doubt it.”

Hull
Robbie Brady seems poised for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a calf complaint in training prior to yesterday’s loss at Stoke. Tigers boss Steve Bruce revealed:

”Brady pulled up with a horrible calf injury yesterday. He could be out for weeks, months. Unfortunately he’s damaged his calf really, really badly. He couldn’t walk yesterday.”

Bruce also explained the reasons behind the omission of front two Nikica Jelavic and Dame N’Doye from the starting line-up, with the latter travelling back to Russia earlier in the week:

”Unfortunately, Jelavic’s knee was sore yesterday morning so we couldn’t take a risk there and N’Doye has been halfway around the world again this week.”

Hull are also sweating over the fitness of David Meyler after the midfielder was withdrawn due to injury at the Britannia.

Liverpool
Jordon Ibe missed today’s win over City due to injury, according to the local press.

Man United
Louis van Gaal was without Phil Jones and Luke Shaw for the 2-0 win over Sunderland, whilst back-up stopper Victor Valdes also missed out. Speaking to MUTV, the Dutchman went on to say:

“Shaw had a tight hamstring and Jones was ill. I cannot put players who are ill and tired in my line-up. Victor Valdes also has a problem and wasn’t on the bench. I had to make three changes during our final day of preparation.”

Newcastle
Massadio Haidara was stretchered off during the Magpies 1-0 win over Villa but according to the local press, the defender has confirmed his withdrawal was no more than precautionary.

Manager John Carver is also optimistic on a quick return for the cut-priced defender:

“It’s his knee. He’s got an on-going issue with it, but it’s not too serious, so we will see what he’s like tomorrow. Hopefully, he should be available for Wednesday.”

Stoke
Mark Hughes is set to be without Stephen Ireland for the foreseeable future after the midfielder was withdrawn at half-time with a calf injury wound against Hull. Post-match, a livid Hughes slammed the tackle by Tigers’ defender Maynor Figueroa:

“It was a shocking challenge. It could have finished Stephen’s career. Why it is not a straight red, I have no idea. There has been a lot of talk of challenges recently but this was worse than any of them. We have lost Stephen for any number of weeks. He is in a bad way. He has a slice on his calf and needed 12 or 15 stitches. He has come in at half-time, rolled his sock down, and everyone was taken aback by the severity of the gash.”

Sunderland
The Black Cats’ on-loan winger Ricky Alvarez is rated as “touch and go” for the midweek clash against Hull, according to Gus Poyet.

Swansea
Gylfi Sigurdsson missed the Swans’ 1-0 win at Burnley with “a slight hamstring concern”, according to the club’s official website.

West Brom
Tony Pulis is facing a potential crisis up front ahead of the Baggies’ midweek derby against Villa. With Victor Anichebe missing out due to a groin problem, both Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye were given pain-killing injections prior to yesterday’s win over Southampton but neither player was able to finish the match. After watching his strikers hobble off, the West Brom manager conceded:

“Berahino has not trained all week and he might have to do that next week. It’s to do with his ankle or foot. We have a weakness up front in terms of numbers. The last 15 or 20 minutes we have had to play Stephane Sessegnon up there. Brown Ideye and Saido were both carrying knocks even before the game. It just shows they have got good spirit in the dressing room and people want to play. Saido had an injection before the game and maybe he should have one before every game, scoring goals like that. We will dust them all down and see where we are.”

What are people's thoughts on Giroud here, as a player?

Get on @ArsenalMoh8 timeline, he made a video of starting a Giroud chant (20 seconds long) and nobody joined in, instead fans looked at him confused.

There's another video which he retweeted it where after Giroud scored a section of fans said 'boo', when he's name was mentioned on the speaker. (Although same say it was 'gruuu')

      2) I think he is a good striker, he does miss a few chances but still in the top 5 of the PL

haha, I'd say it's pretty close between Sturridge, Giroud and Bony

I think Giroud is very good. Good hold up play, brings people into play and is a half decent finisher. Makes a great number 2 striker though, I just think he'd be better off the bench for the Gooners. That being said, he's still better than Welbeck/Walcott up front IMO.

Another fact, since RVP moved to United, Giroud has scored more for Arsenal than RVP has for United.

      Nananana Giroud!

I personally think he's a donkey and I hate his smarmy face, but as far as donkeys go he's the best donkey you'll find. Other donkeys include Heskey and Carlton Cole and Nikola Zigic. When you consider all the donkeys out there Giroud and Dzeko really are the best you'll find. Often frustrating, stupid oafs who can miss a cows arse with a banjo, rarely look elegant but are often effective (but will often also go through frustrating lean spells)

I've always stood up for Giroud.

I think the problem is the fact that he's probably the worst striker we've has in about 20 years.

You stand up for him, but think the problem is he's the worst striker you've had for 20 years? What a way to stand up for somebody, I wish I had supporters like you, wouldn't need any enemies.

*I did notice you corrected it, but this was too funny to pass. I'm not sure I'll agree with that anyway. I rate the lad for his overall game that these days is much more important than just scoring touch. If he just was more ruthless and instinctive in front of the goal, he would be just awesome.

          😆

Yeh, I mean Arsenal fans have really been spoilt over the years. A decade of RvP and Henry is impossible to live up too.

He is fantastic for most games, but generally fails in the biggest moments. Scored 1 today, but he should have had 3. Against the best you're lucky to get one good chance.

Why not to get Spurs defenders:

-Vertonghen is nailed but too expensive
-6/26 CS in the league. They can't keep any in Europe or the cups either.
-Rose is great but Davies got game against Fiorentina recently. He's not forgotten.
-With Spurs being poor defensively, nobody is safe. Pocchettino may make changes.

If it's using a FT, great. If it's for a hit I'd avoid them. You'd be relying on their attacking returns or potential bonus points.

My money league rival has clawed back 39 points in two weeks. 😯 Gap now down to 70 points. And he has a worrying amount of potentially damaging differentials!

We BOTH have Hazard, Giroud, Aguero, Kane, Clyne. Differentials are:

Me: Foster, Bertrand, Baines, Baird, Trippier, Ozil, Sanchez, Mane, Boyd
Him: Panti, Wolli, Hutton, Dawson, N.Taylor, Sterling, Silva, Walcott, Puncheon

One saving grace is I have an extra free transfer, and a (tiny) bit more spare change, 1.1 to his 0.9.

This needs to be the week to halt his charge methinks... Any ideas, chaps?! I'm actually considering Silva this week, possibly Instead of Eriksen... Would probably drop Sanchez.

Also fancy Austin, but not sure I dare drop Giroud against QPR, since my rival will presumably still have him. (My guess would be Walcott>Eriksen will be his trade, but I don't know the guy so it's a total guess!)

    Answers to common questions:

    1. Yes you should captain Kane instead of Aguero - (http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/02/24/ffs-paddy-power-cup-xi-and-members-cup-v-entry-now-open/?hc_page=9#hc_comment_9801234)

    2. Giroud to Austin is an okay transfer

    3. Giroud to Austin for -4 is a little trickier and I'm not sure I'd do it

    4. Best Spurs defenders/GK rotation wise - Lloris = Vert > Walker > Rose

    5. Best Spurs defender for points Rose > Walker > Vert > Lloris

    6. Is it okay to only have 2/3/ DGW players? Yes. I'm going for 4 however

    7. Is it okay to take a hit for a Spurs defender? I am

    8. Should I be looking at any other QPR players other than Austin? No (okay maybe Phillips as an absolute punt)

    9. Should I swap Sanchez for Ozil? Not right now, shouldn’t you be buying DGW players?! 😀

      lol nice.

I'd put Vert ahead of Walker for No.5 but that might be just me 🙂

That was a tough one I must admit. Nearly did it Walker = Vert but ended up going for Walker. Will be close.

Number 7, I agree but it depends on who you are selling

My defence is Kos, Berty, Wollschied, Naughton, Lescott

Not sure a Spurs defender is worth a hit for that

Not an original question, but I've not asked it yet - What to do with one more FT?

    Krul / Panti
    Terry / Clyne / Dawson / Bellerin / Hutton
    Hazard / Eriksen / Sanchez / Sterling / JWP
    Aguero / Kane / Giroud

    1FT to use, 1.5ITB

    Giroud to Austin?
    Hutton to Spurs def?
    Any other good ideas?

Would it be madness to use a FT this week for PVA to Bertrand (who I want long term and could match a Spurs defender this week anyway)

No. It would be very wise, actually.

Should I replace Mane with Coutinho or Sterling?

Cout on current form, Sterling on history

Been on holiday in Siggy's homeland and missed most of the action from the weekend.

Which one to sell for Eriksen?
    A) Cazorla
    B) Sanchez

    Cheers!

      Sanchez

My dilemma too. Let me know when you know. I'm leaning towards CAz because Sanchez is owned by nearly everyone.

I'm thinking Cazorla, only because I have no idea what to do with the extra money! Seems wiser keeping the player with the higher ownership, but depends on rank etc.

That is a toughy, depends what you could do with the funds. If they'll just be sitting ITB I prefer Sanchez.

2FT 4.2m ITB, pick the best transfers please!

    A) Defoe > Austin

    B) Moses/Puncheon > Eriksen

    C) ADM > Silva

    D) Wisdom > Rose

Could do all 4 for -8.

    Panti
    Clyne, Dawson, Bellerin
    Hazard, Sanchez, ADM, Moses
    Aguero, Kane, Defoe

    4m, Puncheon, Wolly, Wisdom

Worth doing Giroud -> Austin (-4), if I'm planning to use the funds and do ADM -> Sanchez next week?

As a Austin owner I might do:

      Austin>Giroud and Sanchez>anyone else

      next week 😆

I was gonna go with Rose over Vertonghen to save cash, but I'm concerned over his minutes.

I'd rather use the cash to get Vert for piece of mind 😕 I reckon if you can afford Vertonghen, go for him, if not gamble on Rose
