Introducing The Natwest t20 Blast Game for 2015

After all the glitz and glamour of the Indian Premier League and the fun and frenzy of the cricket World Cup, I present to you the Natwest t20 Blast game for 2015. The tournament gets under way on 15th May 2015 and cricket and Fantasy sports fans in general can register for the Natwest t20 Blast game here. Below is a list of the rules, including how scoring and transfers work, and at the end you can find the code to join the FFScout league for the Natwest t20 Blast game.

The  game I’d like to introduce you to is the ECB’s Natwest T20 Blast Fantasy. It’s a bit like FPL, you’ll love it! Here I aim to answer some of the key questions around the game, including its rules, how to join a league and how many players a manager can pick in this game, which has  11 Gameweeks plus the quarters and finals day, which includes the semis and final in one day! This will happen during the course of the UK summer.

THE RULES

To join the game you must pick a squad of 12 players consisting of:

4 Batsmen
3 All-rounders
1 Wicket-keepers
4 Bowlers

Budget – The total value of your squad must not exceed 100m.

Players per team – You can select up to 2 players from a single NatWest T20 Blast team. For the quarter-finals and finals this limit will be increased to 4.

Overseas players – You may select no more than 2 overseas players.

Choosing your starting 11 – From your 12 player squad, you must select 11 players including a wicket-keeper to form your team for a Gameweek.
If a batter, all-rounder or bowler play no matches in the Gameweek then your twelfth man will replace them if they play at least one match.

Selecting a Captain and a Vice-Captain – From your starting 11 you nominate a captain and a vice-captain. Your captain’s score will be doubled.
If your captain doesn’t play any matches in the Gameweek, the captain will be changed to the vice-captain. If both captain and vice-captain play no matches, then no player’s score will be doubled.

Deadlines –  here are the deadlines.

TRANSFERS

After selecting your squad you can buy and sell players in the transfer market. Unlimited transfers can be made at no cost until your first deadline.

After your first deadline you will receive 3 free transfers each Gameweek. Each additional transfer you make in the same Gameweek will deduct 50 points from your total score (Classic scoring) and match score (Head-to-Head scoring) at the start of the next Gameweek.
Unused free transfers are not carried over. Before the quarter-finals and finals unlimited transfers can be made.

Wildcard – A Wildcard allows you to make unlimited free transfers throughout a Gameweek. You can play one wildcard a season.
Playing a wildcard will remove any points deductions from transfers already made in the same Gameweek.

Player prices – Player prices are fixed for the season.

SCORING

During the season fantasy players will be allocated a point score after each game, based on their performances in NatWest T20 Blast matches. Points are awarded as detailed below:

For each run four    2
For each run six    5

Fraid not...I'm not a cricket fan..know next to nothing about it except it involves some blokes in white coats holding some jumpers in a field for five days.

I found the game a bit frustrating last year with players not playing. Managed to finish about 500th. I'll think about it.

Haven't got a clue about the English T20 league. Would perhaps involve lot of research as I haven't seen much of it. I usually end up seeing only the finals day games. But then I have a long summer vacation and maybe I can take it as a new challenge.

    Fixture spreadsheet:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17YVxY8P74L5eF9bnDFoz4H5Vq_qMJTYjod20-zq5sAQ/edit?usp=sharing

The first tab just shows the home/away fixtures plus blanks and double & triple(!!!) gameweeks.

The "North" and "South" tabs show more detailed fixtures.

(Let me know if there are any mistakes or if you don't understand something)

Anyone with a template team to start off? So that I get a general idea about the players and then go on modifying it?

Essex, Gloucestershire, Surrey and Sussex have a DGW in GW 1 so it makes sense to have 2 players from each of those teams.

    I've gone for:

    Wright

    Ryder (c)
    Stevens
    Jack Taylor
    Davies

We should know the Durham, Northants, Gloucs & Middlesex starting X1s before the GW 1 deadline.

Not tempted by ten Doeschate over Ryder?

No way, I want 2 Essex players who I can keep in my team for the first 5 weeks (they have DGWs in GW 1, 2, 4 & 5). ten Doeschate is flying back to India after GW 1 and will miss GW 2.

Even if he wasn't going back to India, I still think Ryder is a better fantasy player that RtD.

Ah, didn't realise ten Doeschate was going back to India. Cheers.

Not too familiar with County cricket so making a team is tough, although the DGWs help! I assume the main tactic is to use the 3 transfers each week to bring in the players who have DGWs?

    1. Perchinho

Yep, it's probably worth taking the odd 50 point hit to bring in an extra DGW player.

The weather can cause havoc in this game (if a game is washed out, it doesn't get rearranged), it looks like the weather will be fine for this weekend's games so you'll want 8 DGW players and your other 4 players should have DGWs in GW 2 or 3.

    @perchinho

how's your team doing? I'm currently just inside the top 1000, getting stung by rotation at the minute. next week looks tricky with so many teams having 2 games, considering using my wildcard tbh.
