The Community Round Up

Eden Hazard’s holiday snaps and growing confidence in Arsenal’s attacking midfield assets conspired to set the community’s hearts racing as they considered some intriguing transfer moves with the Gunners’ double Gameweek 37  in mind. We also look ahead to the lottery that is Gameweek 38 and further ahead to next season and the key rule changes the community would like to see in the Fantasy Premier League. We also catch up on the latest tables from the statisticians in our Members area and the ups and downs in the community’s leagues.

The Community Articles

Our latest Rough with the Smooth round up of the community’s best and worst transfer decisions last Gameweek showed that West Brom’s defence is not to be underestimated and selecting the correct Arsenal attacker is getting harder each Gameweek.

Another who has found predicting player potential difficult in recent weeks is The Puntmaster. He’ll be hoping for a return to form with this trio of differentials for Gameweek 36.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Even before pictures circulated on the internet of Eden Hazard relaxing by the beach this week, SAB was among those wondering whether the Chelsea midfielder could be ditched in favour of one of Arsenal’s Gameweek 37 double Gameweek assets. With rotation looming large for the Premier League champions’ players does he have a point? Hazard was also among those mentioned in our discussion on the run in’s prime rotation candidates.

While confidence in Hazard’s points potential ebbs away, optimism that Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is set to do well is growing, particularly after his brace against Hull in Gameweek 35. It was unsurprising to see him mentioned frequently in our hot topic on the best Arsenal trio to have for the Gunners’ double Gameweek.

Arsenal’s evolving midfield also came under RuthNZ’s microscope as he examined how reacting to changes in the form and tactics, such as Ramsey and Sanchez’s growing influence in the Gunners attacking play, is vital to success.

While Arsenal players are gaining plaudits, are we ignoring some of the game’s more unfashionable players who still have the potential to score well? D1sable certainly thinks so as he prepares to welcome Stoke’s barrel chested midfielder Charlie Adam into his FPL side.

Looking beyond double Gameweek 37, we asked for your tips for success in Gameweek 38, which is notoriously the toughest week for Fantasy managers, as fringe players get a chance to play and clean sheets are harder to pick.

Gameweek 38 strategy was also considered by Ruth NZ in his discussion on whether Christain Benteke is worth drafting in as the threat of rotation looms large in the final Gameweek ahead of the FA Cup final,  should Aston Villa have already secured Premier League status.

Looking further ahead, to next season, Dat Guy asked the community for their ideas on a new FPL rule that could be realistically added to the game. His idea was for managers to nominate a team before the season gets underway that they can pick four players from. Allan The Llama, meanwhile, proposed a one off ‘joker’ rule that allows double points for an entire XI.

The Members Tables

To help assess Arsenal’s options ahead of Gameweek 37 Ludo has come up with this handy table comparing the Gunners attacking options.

Goal involvement is among the key factors considered by Spatburgunder in his look at the best forwards for the run in.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Greenwindmill’s continues to top the FFScout moderators and contributors league with a 43-point lead over second-placed Mark.

In TorresMagic’s last Man Standing competition, the safety score in Gameweek 35 was 57, leaving just 11 players in with a chance of glory.

Meanwhile in Red Lightning’s FFS January Wildcard League Brian Thomson is the new leader, having scored 1003 points in the last 15 Gameweeks, including three triple digit scores. Red Lightning says: “For comparison, FPL leader Simon March (aka Dufflinks) scored 1002 in the same period with no century game-weeks.” Aaron Thorburn continues to lead the Top 10k Any Season mini-league.

Finally, The FFS UEFA Cricket World Cup competition has reached the quarter final stage. A round up of the previous round’s events, plus a look ahead to the weekend’s games can be found here.

Rest PVA and keep him fit for next week.

Seriously - Hutton by a country mile at home and supplier for Tek

But Hutton's gametime is in doubt, isn't it ?
        Otherwise it's an easy choice..

It may so happen that Hutton comes in for a cameo and gives me 1 point.. 😛

Have a look at the rest of the Villa defence. Also, I don't fancy Sunderland at all. Everton will get a couple or four goals imo

im playing skrtel myself....mourinho might take the foot off gas and look to park the bus...a 0-0 scoreline is a good possibility

Huh? That's basically what they have been doing for the last few weeks, I think if anything now they will just be more care free with the title in the bag. I can see goals in that match.

they wouldnt want to lose immediately after winning the title...would certainly keep the defense tight as it has been...will look for a 1-0 scoreline...and with hazard holidaying goals wont flow freely

They've already won, so now it's time to make pool look silly and win with many goals

They don't want to lose anytime but they've just won the league - human nature is the factor here. Can't see 0-0 not that I think it will be a goalfest but can see Liverpool getting 1 if not 2.

I'd got for Smalling, United can kill the game with possession even if they don't tend to do much with it. But there isn't much in it.

Personally I have feeling that Palace has fizzed out. So leaning towards Smalling as well. Jones back should help as well.

FWIW I'm getting rid of him for Panti after this GW & will buy Sanchez to triple up on Arsenal attack.

Is it because you are not sure of Ospina's returns
        or
you want to triple up on Arsenal's attack ?

Does the starting 11 look in order?

    Ospina?
    Clichy / Terry / Schlupp?
    Cazorla / Ramsey / Silva / Hazard
    Aguero / Kane / Vardy
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Scheichel? - Siggy - PVA - Moreno

    QUICK POLL:

1800th in the game, would you:

    (1) play safe, captain Aguero; or

    (2) go for triple digits by punting on Ozil, captain.

First time poster but really stumped this week:

    Skrtel/Ivanovic/PVA/Rose/Bertrand (which 3)

Then also should I take a hit to get Benteke in for Kane??

20 points behind in cash mini league and just outside top 5k so really need to make a jump . . .

I'd take the hit for Benteke if you're 20 behind and leader doesn't have him

I'd pick Ivan. Van A and Bertrand with Skrtel first def sub. Don't see
Many clean sheets for anyone so looking for other points
