Here’s our regular update on the competition, featuring a look at the Matchday 5 games that took place over Gameweek 35. We also have some fun handing out some Matchday Awards and a look ahead to the quarterfinals. Please use this article for all tournament chat.

MATCHDAY 5 RESULTS

The final Matchday 5 results have been updated in the Cup spreadsheet.

Congratulations to all the teams that qualified and commiserations to those who were eliminated – but huge credit to all teams for fighting till the very end. Interestingly, every team has won at least 2 games out of 5. That’s how close the margins for qualification were.

MATCHDAY 5 AWARDS

Sachin Tendulkar Award for the best batting lineup – IRE with 702 runs

Salma Hayek Overnight Award for the player of the week – Oy of the 42 Overs with 89 runs from ENG

Hot Urine Treatment for the highest run scorer on the bench – SW6 with 79 runs from BAN

SAF Management Award – manager with highest manager rating – Blue Lion of IND and 4vets of PAK with rating of 99

Dalglish Differential – manager with lowest manager rating – Jkisthe of BAN with rating of 92

Jose Mourinho Award for the best pressers before Matchday 4 – Sheikh Badger (UAE)‘s trilogy with +14

Andrew Symonds Award for the best sledging (Social Media) – New Zealand

I trust all the SAFs have all packed their vuvezela's and a ready to jet home from the tournament.

It had been a great party but alas despite a terrific effort a number of little things transpired against us and the perennial chokers, choked again.

We can look at last nights banker Gooner victory - but it didnt materialize or we can look at our starting XI and reflect on the gigantic score sitting on bench 🙁

Ginkapo and I have felt this pain and anguish in the past and as we scratch our heads looking for answers we would usually blame bad luck for fear of accepting or apportioning any blame - its a side game, meant to be fun and bring together the FFS community and hopefully we have achieved that at SA especially with the added banter during those wild night partying!!

Big thanks for the efforts and commitment - best of luck in your mini leagues and the only thing left is for Thomass to "slash" on that #ProteaFire on the way out.
