How would you improve on this WC defence without allocating any more funds to it? (yeah i know it's lightweight, that's the way I roll):

    Fabianski(5.0) McCarthy(4.0)
    Williams(5.0) Huth(4.5) Francis(4.5) Richards(4.5) STaylor(4.0)

Not sure on Francis and Richards, also is it really wise to double up on Swans defence? The budget options just seem so few in defence this year..

Sorry I think you need to allocate more funds.
Gomez is the only 4.5 that comes to mind.

Yeah, maybe.. I just don't like having funds tied up in defence when I need to get that new in-form front 8 player in.. This is my front 8 btw:

        Silva Sanchez Yaya Payet Mahrez
        Aguero Gomis Wilson

Maybe I could do Gomis to Sakho or something.. don't rightly know which of the mids I'd sacrifice :/

Firstly, I hope you sold Wilson before his drop.
Secondly, since you'll be benching Wilson every week you may as well downgrade hm and upgrade a defender.

Shaw or Darmian? (On a WC)

I've held Darmian since gw1 and he's going to rise tonight. So is Shaw though.

If I decide to keep Darmian I'll just let it stay how it is, but if I'm getting Shaw then I can buy Shaw tonight at 5.5 and sell Darmian tomorrow (and pocket the 0.1).

Sorry if this is a little too complicated.

    A.

    McCarthy (Butland)

    Kolarov Shaw Cresswell (Richards, Oxford)

    Sanchez Depay Mahrez Payet (WESTWOOD)

    Aguero(C) Gomis BENTEKE

    B.

    McCarthy (Butland)

    Kolarov Shaw Cresswell (Richards, Oxford)

    Sanchez Depay Mahrez Payet Mane

    Aguero(C) Gomis (IGHALO)

I am thinking B but may change my mind to A after the Saints Europa game, depending on fatique/form etc.. Also, I'm on a WC so if Mane drops I can just get him in cheaper before next gw. Thoughts?

People are quick to shut down suggestions of unpopular players on here. Just because someone isn't a common name in FFS teams doesn't mean they aren't a good pick. The template is not always right, and the first couple of weeks have shown that. If you posted a RMT in preseason which included the likes of Mahrez, Redmond, Ayew or Lukaku (ahem), most would've advised you to swap them out for a 'template' player. Now, I know it's not often that the FFS template fails so dramatically in the opening 2 weeks, but I guess what I'm trying to say is if you have a hunch on an unfashionable or unpopular pick, go with your gut and don't let others talk you out of it. Besides, there are few better FPL feelings than when your cheap differential defender gets 15 points, or your new midfield signing scores in consecutive games.

agreed.. i'm just playing my own game and trying to ignore the mad rush for the same players on here.. Dont think many on here even watch games. The players who score become bandwagons and everyone feels like they cant do without em. the players ive transferred in so far this season are Shelvey and Williams 🙂 .. and planning Gestede/Wilson/Ighalo in next week. all 3 of them are like badwords on here.

      1. Unliklinho
        • 12 Years

Actually I think there are pros and cons to watching the games too. Often I've done that and thought "x looks awesome atm" (Craig Bellamy at City springs to mind) only for them to never quite manage any fantasy returns at all. In this respect I don't really trust stats either. There are just too many variables.

i use a mix of both.. try to watch as many games as i can and watch motd for the games i cant watch. Then browse through the stats on here and see if what i saw matched the stats and vice versa.

Well said Innsie. This should be hulked imo, encourages thinking over sheepism.

Last season i went without Hazard(highest scoring player in the game) for the first 20 GWs, then was forced to buy him because of his high % in the captaincy polls. Come ~GW30 he was not in my team and i'm pretty sure i didn't captain him more than twice. I finished the season ahead of most people who were saying "ten player game", "season keeper" and "essential"(most=i finished top 3k and there were +1m Hazard owners for the most part if not all season)

This season i started with him for the same reason, he was joint first in the captain poll. Sold him this week to raise funds for Aguero.

P.S. Not sure what the S in FFS stands for anymore.

    Mass wildcard theory

Am I right in thinking that once your wildcard is activated, purchases no longer affect price changes? If so, would it not be better for everyone to create their wildcard team using normal transfers(building up s large minus number) and then confirm wildcard just before kick off Saturday ( that way we would all get more price increases?) rather than doing as I have and declared wildcard at the start of the week?

For all of us who have ditched Rooney on wildcard... He is still owned by 36% and a big captain option. I'm definitely a bit worried about that!

So I wildcarded to this yesterday:

    Romero
    Kompany | Cresswell | Cédric
    Sánchez | Silva | Mané | Mahrez
    Agüero | Gomis | Sakho

    McCarthy | Ward | Wanyama | Oxford

Now I'm thinking would Hart & Darmian be better than Romero & Kompany? Thoughts on the rest of the team too?

      Like it.

Romero is a risk if DDG is still at united after the window closes, but Hart is a fairly boring way to use up a city slot IMO...tough one

Maybe Rom --> 4.5, upgrade one of your 5s to Shaw/Darmian?

No idea but I'm slightly concerned about playing him against Watford! Did look very attacking against Everton though so even if he doesn't get a cs always chance of an assist!

People probably disagree kn here, but their strong defence of last season had majority of different players to now, keeper, right back, Centre back, holding midfielder. Caulkner was in a team that went down last season too. Personally I'd avoid, though am currently in position 1.1 mill so my comments don't hold a lot of water...

thoughts on this WC team, SVP? 🙂

    Hart - McCarthy
    Shaw - A.Williams - Huth - Francis - Oxford
    Sanchez - Silva - Ayew - Mahrez - Redmond
    Aguero - Pelle - Sakho

no CHE could become a worry at some point, but can't find myself paying premium for any of their assets 😐

De Bruyne was being honoured at an awards dinner in Germany last night when he was asked by the presenter to say: "I, Kevin de Bruyne, will definitely play this season at Wolfsburg."

He repeated those exact words, but we understand his German isn't very good and that Wolfsburg or his agent aren't happy with the incident.
