There’s no doubt Eden Hazard has been one of the biggest disappointments during the opening four Gameweeks of the campaign. Last season’s PFA Player of the Year was handed an 11.5 price tag in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) this summer, but with just a single assist so far, has seen his value drop to 11.4, with over 592,000 FPL bosses transferring out the Belgian since the start of the season.

After averaging 6.1 points per appearance in 2014/15, that figure is down to 2.5 points per outing in the early days of the new season. With Chelsea’s star man once again in the top five for transfers out this week, tonight’s members article compares his statistics to the previous one as we look to see why the Belgian is struggling to scale the heights of Chelsea’s title-winning campaign.

Serena going for the calendar slam and facing venus in the quarters. Hmm something tells me we already know who will go through

Taking a huge chance with that but I believe that Mou could turn things around with Chelski sooner rather than later

C'mon FFS admins, we're 4 games into the season and the Season Ticker is still unjustly refusing to acknowledge Leicester and Norwich's fine PL history. As in, nothing appears for result if you mouse over them.

Here is a good story. My Dad moved to Manchester from Ireland in the 60s just after him and me ma got married.
He was a carpet fitter and got a job doing Old Traffords exec boxes. Got to watch United train for a whole week. Best turned up, hungover, an hour late for training one morning. Busby sent all the other players back to the showers.
He then ran the bollx off Best for an hour. Up and down the steps of the stand. Until Best puked.
He played the next match and scored twice.
No one bigger than the club back then! 🙂

Went to Cappielow to watch him play for Hibs against Morton.
Was on the initial team sheets but never turned up.

I watched Gazza tear Blackburn apart playing for Everton whilst drunk (in his book). Everton lost but Gazza was superb...The trouble is he was kak for most of his other games. Same applies to Best at the tail end of his United career.

Loved the Gazza years at Rangers but what a player he could have been if he'd been as fit as he could have.
At least he was happy at Ibrox and gave us some wonderful performances.

Hopefully he will. The problem players have at Liverpool is the weight of expectation. I have no clue how that affects one player to another...I suspect that BR doesn't either until they actually play.

The likes of Mahrez and Bolasie at second rung clubs (size wise) can really enjoy their games with less pressure.

This is true no big expectations and freedom in their roles. Firmino and coutinho thrives as free playing players but BR doesnt give freedom ans is tactiacally oblivious. Liverpooo deserves better

Liverpool have fallen into the trap that United did for so many years. They need to forget the past and play in the now. Their history resonates through too much of that club and within the local press...It doesn't help that so many pundits are ex Liverpool players as well, and all seem intent on comparing the modern team with players of the past.

While its quiet snd internationals week and that,
Whats everyones views on the UEFA Nations League thats going to become basically a 4 tier league system for European international football and a means of qualifying to the Euros. As well as replacing friendlies and mis matched qualifiers with competitive evenly matched games? With promotion relegation playoffs and finals.

    http://www.uefa.com/community/news/newsid=2079553.html

I think its a very good plan and will improve competition and interest overall.

It looks a like a great idea and it needs to happen because there are some many new European nations joining the tournament. Lots of incentives for this to work well.

Scheduled for 2018/19. Says its for odd numbered years (guess that means the finals). Be good for small teams to actually win a division and promotion and qualification to Euros allat once. I'm Scottish, so its a god send for us haha.

It looks ok, apart from the link with Euro Championship qualifying which is going to make things overly (and needlessly) complicated. Would have preferred it to sit as a stand-alone competition, (a bit like the Davis Cup in tennis).

I like the fact it allows one of the minnows to qualify for tge euros.

I think supporters of the countries who end up losing out on a place in Euro 2020 to a "minnow" will think very definitely when it happens - the likes of Scotland (i.e. a 3/4 seed pot team) are the sort of level of team who could well fall foul of this.

It may have been a bit of a rant, but I actually agree with most of Ruth_NZ's points.

I actually flagged that it ought to be hulked, but the mods took no notice. Even though many disagreed with his point of view, I thought it was a topic worthy of serious discussion.

I rather suspect that perhaps the mods may have realised that it is probably true, but they didn't want to admit it because they like the increased traffic that RMTs bring to the site.

Perhaps I should have just said that the mods decided not to hulk it, despite the large amount of discussion it was generating.

There appeared to be some misunderstanding about what Ruth_NZ's original post was trying to say - I don't think his main purpose was to criticise those who submit RMTs, it was to point out that this led to problems such as too narrow a template team, the over-hyping of players like Walcott, and the big price falls for him which resulted, and was suggesting that we should look for some way to avoid these problems.

Not all the price falls were due to this, but FFS certainly had a large effect on Walcott's. Many players recommended by FFS have done well, but others have been over-hyped and suffered massive price falls afterwards - remember Boselli?

But why did the mods decide not to hulk it? I can only imagine that they feared it might lead to a loss of confidence in our RMTs and Template Team, which might result in a reduction of traffic on the site, and that the site's sponsors and advertisers wouldn't like that to happen.

... He also gave the very useful warning that players who have a high ownership within the FFS community but a low ownership within FPL as a whole are likely to get rapid price rises or falls, depending on their subsequent success or failure.

Many FFS users also ignored, or were not aware of, The Fantasy Freak's community article pointing out that Walcott was by no means a certain starter for Arsenal.

Wow it seems there are a lot of conspiracy theorists on FFS, I doubt I'm going to change that but please don't attack the mods!

They have explained their reasoning (see below) though I really don't think that should have been necessary.

I think the real issue for many was his lack of respect for other people.
I found many if not most of his posts interesting but the manner in how he replied to others was what annoyed me.
Hey, we all have our faults and bad days but I just gave up on trying to communicate with him.
I'm sure he'll be back & I hope so but I did post once that we've seen similiar posters on here over the years who post from anything from 6 months to 2 years then disappear - usually in connection with how well they are performing at FPL, but again, this isn't aimed at Ruth in particular, just a general observation.

I get where your coming from but he only seemed to offend people who again laughed off or disrespected the posts that he put a lot of effort into, it doesn't make it right what he did, but he was just responding in the way any of us would in that situation! I really hope this isnt the end for RUTHNZ, but I do fear the worst, a lot of hate that he got on here was unfair and I wouldn't blame him for steping away

Eh, I'm usually pretty tolerant as I know how blunt I can be when in a foul mood but he takes it too far too often IMO and I've lost patience. I don't think its the initial rudeness that got to me but whenever he got called out it was never "I'm sorry for being rude" but "I don't think I was being rude but sorry if you you think I was" as if still trying to defend what he said. I entirely get the retaliatory spats but that's another thing entirely. Right that's my lot, I've said all I want to say now.

I think Ruth speaks a lot of truth (bad rhyme intending), and would be a huge loss to this community. He challenges the status quo and offers insights and strategic and tactical advice. He could be a bit more diplomatic and polite (i.e. he does not suffer fools well), but that behavior is modifiable. I hope he sticks around. He provides a greater level of insight that helps dilute the rapid fire player choice type posts.

I fully agree with this. I too believe he'd be a loss to the community. As a passive observer mainly, I was always looking forward to read his posts/comments here

With that front 8, you should keep Westwood and just bench him every week. Benteke to Gomis or Sakho looks decent.

He has had more touches in the box than any other player in any position from any team in the last two GW's and only Sako and Pelle have beaten him for attempts in the box...and only by one single attempt.

Anyone who owns Yaya considering the transfer to KDB? Make some profit and acquire a potentially top player who will be a slight differential as a lot will have 3 City already / Silva.

Will likely wait to see after this GW how he fits in but I'm strongly considering it.

In the sky game at 7.8, yes

Not a chance in FPL, way to risky at that price with all the decent City options for your 3 spaces

    Captain choice strategy;

There are a number of thought processes that lead us to decide who to put our armband on

    1) Gut feel
This has to be the most pleasing strategy when it works, no worrying bout the game mechanics, just back your own footy sense and judgement on who will score the most.

    2) Minutes
Is your captain choice likely to play the full 90? Is there an important cup match midweek, does that team have adequate cover to allow him to be rested.

    3) Fixture
Sometimes form and fixture combine to make a certain captain choice too juicy too ignore.

    4) Ownership
Backing the guy most owned in your team (assuming it's appropriate) is probably the safest way to preserve your ranking.

    5) Cowardice
Not daring to take the armband of Aguero in case this is the week he explodes.

    6) Differential
Need to make ground up? Look for a lesser player with a good fixture and hope the big guns underwhelm.

    7) Captain poll
The ffs community cant be wrong, can they? 🙂

Personally i like to concentrate on 1) and 2), simply think about who is likely to get the most points and minutes in which to score those points, like to bear 6) in mind too, the chance to gamble on a rankings boost is always appealing to me.
However you arrive at your decision make sure it is yours and never blame the community if they advise you to pick a player that in hindsight turns out to be a failure

Uusally 1 for me. Barely take notice of the captain poll. Often 5 or 6 too. Never 4

I don't think 4 (Ownership) should be on the list. I can't ever remember anyone using this as a justification for captain. If this strategy was used then the armband would have been left on Kane for the second half of last season (which I think very few if anyone did)

Lots of people captain a player based on ownership. In fact it is THE method for those playing the game statistically and with minimum risk.

So the most highly owned player currently is Clyne (37.7%). Are you saying that people who play the game statistically and with minimum risk will captain him this GW?

Take the captain poll on here for instance. The two leading candidates for captaincy this week are Aguero (32.9%, 6th highest owned) and Alexis (12.6% roughly 35th highest owned player)

      Nice post.

I certainly do 1, 2 and 3. Also consider 6 too. Definitely not 7, they all just vote for Aguero and Sanchez regardless of fixture. This week I'm giving Mahrez the armband, only hesitation was fitness but he played for Algeria today and bagged an assist 🙂

Aguero isn't in the top 5 most owned players just now (32.8%)

      10) Underlying form AKA Aguero or Sanchez every week

After this, go back to 3) then probably still pick Aguero.

I start with 5 and then see if there is a good enough form / quality / fixture contender to make me look elsewhere.

This week the main challenger is sanchez but I think aguero I ternate one exploits have got me fearful enough to stick with 5

I tend to choose Aguero if he's fit.

When he's not fit I'll look at a mixture - form, fixtures, gut feeling.

Will you captain him this week as well?

Just asking since he's blanked twice in a row with a very tricky away game coming up.

Hardly anyone who's replied has said they don't take note of 3/. I frankly think that's a load of rubbish. Everyone likes the juicy fixture and saying you ignore it is kidding yourself.

You may not use it as a final decision maker but it's always one of the first things people will notice about a player that week.

I think people are trying to be cool by saying fixture doesn't matter in this one big decision, but blatantly it does.

1, 2 & 3 for me, although 4 & 6 occasionally when there are 2 very clear captain choices, and only one of them is being picked up on I will be very tempted to go with other.

Sanchez vs Aguero this coming week is an example.

      (1) + (3) for me. I personally go with my gut over 4 weeks. Which saves me the feeling of putting the armband on the wrong player every single week. Aguero has to come good sometime?!?!?!
