Everton’s much-discussed fixture shift begins in earnest with a home tie against Sunderland. Curiously, the Toffees’ solitary win on familiar soil this campaign came against Chelsea in Gameweek 5, so they’ll be desperate to bank three points against a Black Cats outfit that’s winless on their travels.
The Merseysiders have struggled on the defensive front over the last four Gameweeks, with only three teams conceding more goals (eight). Furthermore, they ranked fourth for shots inside the box (37) and big chances (10) allowed during that period. From an offensive standpoint, Everton positioned themselves in the middle of the pack, chalking up five goals, seven big chances and 16 shots on target.
The Wearsiders posted their first win of the campaign last weekend but were, by all accounts, flattered by the 3-0 scoreline over their local rivals. Since Gameweek 7, only West Bromwich Albion (32) and Manchester United (37) have tallied fewer total attempts than Sunderland (39). Those Fantasy managers who’ve targeted the Toffees’ attacking recruits ahead of their favourable schedule will be heartened that Sunderland place third for shots inside the box (39) conceded in the last four Gameweeks.
