Team Analysis – Assessing Allardyce’s Sunderland

After picking up just three points in the opening eight league matches under Dick Advocaat, it was no real surprise to see Sunderland part company with the Dutchman last month. Given that new manager Sam Allardyce has never been relegated from the Premier League, the Wearsiders will be optimistic of yet another great escape, though so far, the jury is out on Big Sam’s start at the Stadium of Light.

Although the former West Ham boss registered a first win and clean sheet of the campaign – courtesy of a 3-0 victory over neighbours Newcastle – their 6-2 thumping at Goodison in the following league fixture brought them firmly back down to earth.

With three losses in his first four fixtures at the helm, then, we assess Allardyce’s impact on Sunderland as they look to build momentum and claw their way out of the bottom three.

Completely lost track of the pressers. Which ones are still to come? Or even better does anyone know a good source to show pressers times?

Bench Darmian if you go by fixture difficulty.

Bench Williams if you go by form.

    Bony + Pelle -> Lukaky + Kane (-4) silly?

Loving the picture for this article. Reminds of his face after we beat Bolton 7-5 in the 2000 play-off semi-finals. Those were the days!

Not for a hit - Pelle home to Stoke isn't a bad fixture.

Using my FT for Payet to Ozil.

Take a hit for Pelle > Lukaku?

Would pay off over the next 7/8 fixtures, but not sure if I can hold him for the next 7/8 with Kun lurking. Thoughts gents?

I wouldn't be surprised if Pelle scores against Stoke, I'd hold off and bring Lukaku in on a free as it's unlikely Lukaku will gain you more points than the hit he costs

So chaps been away from this site for a while due to baby boy coming into our lives. Sort of been trying to keep up with news etc but here it goes. 2FT and 5.1m ITB

    Butland, Hennessey
    Cedric, Monreal, Souare, Nyom, Simpson
    Mane, Payet, Sanchez, KDB, Mahrez
    Ayoze, Pelle, Vardy

    Payet > Alli
    Ayoze > Kane

Should have enough funds to get Aguero in week after

Sound moves, but that will leave you with double SOT and LEI.

SOT two not really firing and LEI fixtures takes a bad turn after this week.

Hi guys - would appreciate any feedback on this

    My current team is:
    Begovic (Gomes)
    Monreal Smalling Rojo (Francis, Haidara)
Ozil Mahrez Sanchez De Bruyne (Westwood)
    Vardy Kane Pelle
0 FT (as I have already done Payet to Ozil)

As you can see, my bench is pretty diabolical, and with the doubts over whether Sanchez or Vardy will start this gameweek would you be tempted to take a -4 hit to replace either Haidara or Westwood with someone who is guaranteed at least 2 points? Thinking of building a bit more strength in depth for the christmas period so with that in mind also - is this a good idea?

You have a good team, there's no need to panic and take a hit as the players you can afford to bring in for westwood/haidara won't out score the hit you take, Vardy will probably play and Sanchez still might as well.
