The first week of qualifying inthe inaugeral FIFFSA 5-a-side World Cup got off to a flyer with several results of note. Egypt, one of the least experienced teams, came through the first week with flying colours, posting the fifth highest score of any team (333) and they are now sitting pretty at the top of the CAF qualifying group. This sets up a tantalising clash with The Seychelles.
The highest team score of the week award goes to Costa Rica with 351. They needed it too as their opponents Malaysia posted a very respectable 321. This would have been enough to have beaten most sides last week.
The average score for teams last week was 304.8. If your team scored more than that that you can consider yourselves unlucky if you lost – or extremely lucky if you squeezed out a win with a score lower than that.
Player of the week goes to Cylus11 of Croatia who posted a mammoth 92 points, as he led them to a 79-point victory over France
The award for worst substitution must go to Uruguay who benched Chenku who scored a massive 78 points after hits. This cost Uruguay the win in a tight match-up. This narrowly beat the benching of Jacknap by India as although they benched a greater number of points India still came away with the win.
Off the pitch, Tony Hibbert wins the award for best press conference revealing the Republic of Ireland’s elite pre-season training methods that would set them up for the tournament.
We also had the saga of the missing England players gone AWOL. If you are reading this and you belong to team England please make yourself known.
In fact the sheer quantity and quality of the pressers is too high to bring up here. But keep it up it is an invaluable part of the tournament and keeps it alive.

Gameweek 2 Preview
We are looking forward to the second week of qualifying taking place this weekend, which includes a big South American match-up between Brazil and Argentina. Both sides which have tallied over 145,000 points between them in their Fantasy Premier League careers so it should live up to its billing.
Another big local derby is Germany against Poland, who will be desperate to get off the mark after losing their Gameweek 1 match against Portugal. Germany in contrast will be in confident mood after despatching Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A full list of the fixtures this week can be found here:
A more detailed summary of this can be found on the player history tab which includes the rank history of every player in the tournament and our team sheets and tables spreadsheet.

Top scorers
GW13 - Costa Rica
GW14 - Cayman Islands (despite their 2nd highest player being benched)
Its not surprise that these two teams are the overall top scorers as well. CONCACAF and COMNEBOL are full of quality and are competitive. But the proven quality of the other federations cannot be written off just yet. Can't wait for GW15
Go Cayman!!
