The ScoutCast – Episode 180 – Whistle

Just minutes after the final whistle blew on Gameweek 21, Jonty, Andy and myself braved the airwaves to pick the bones out of our meagre midweek tallies.

Brought back down to earth by a decidedly lacklustre floodlit affair, we rouse ourselves to debate the Aguero armband, the rapidly increasing speed of the Payet bandwagon and the theories behind the stuttering United backline.

We even make our dedication to the departed David Bowie, before quickly ushering out our disappointment of the Gameweek just past by previewing the one that lies ahead.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first broadcast via our YouTube channel on Wednesday evening.

I just got Olson (WBA) in for £4.3m to enable me to get Payet for Arnautovic.

Buys you into a WBA defence that have some tasty fixtures coming up and he gets forward a lot.

A gives you Spurs cover and as you've got 4 other starters you don't need to worry about rotation too much. Very unlikely to get a 10 min cameo out of him as well, which is important. Just play him when the other side has a decent right winger, otherwise he always plays Rose

"The positive news starts with Winston Reid, Winston has been in full training with the squad all week and is available for selection against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Dimitri Payet came through the Liverpool game without any reaction to his previous ankle injury and is fit to play against Wolves.

Manuel Lanzini re-injured his quadriceps in the win over Liverpool, which will rule him out for several weeks.

The first game, post injury, is not the biggest risk for a player. The first game back players are involved for limited minutes, fresh and are playing on a wave of 'excitement'.

Unfortunately Manuel got injured in his second game and he will rest for a week followed by the rehab at Chadwell Heath. We'll have more news next week.

Victor Moses will return to full training with the squad on Monday. Victor returned to his parent club Chelsea for a part of his rehab before returning to West Ham last week.

He has been training with our rehab fitness coach and working towards getting the required level of fitness under his belt.

Diafra Sakho has also returned to the training ground this week after a period of limited rehab, to let the body heal.

Diaf’s rehab is initially focussed on gaining muscle strength and restoring the optimal movement patterns enabling us to push on the next few weeks.

We will have a better idea of when Diaf will be ready to play at the end of next week."

Another legend of the game and for sure one of the great entertainers but no one can touch Ronnie for natural abilty or just being an out and out mad bar steward

            1. The Raging Bull
              • 10 Years

True, although, White had natural ability too, used to make 100 breaks with a walking stick when he was 16.

Ronnie vs Hendry in their prime, i would say Hendry wins, purely on the basis he beats him mentally. Hendry pioneered the modern game.

Hendry was an absolute machine all the abilty in the world without being overly exciting and all the temperament and discipline to match.. much like Steve Davis.. The Jonty of the snooker world.. Boring as fook but seriously effective strategy

One aspect of Ronnie's game which is overlooked is his safety play. I think he is the best safety player ever to hold a cue, does it effortlessly and naturally.

Can match any player in that department.

Once he's in amongst the balls, there's no better, cleans up in minutes.

    Currently between:

    A) Walcott -> Payet/Ozil

He's never scored or assisted against Chelsea, neither in this season's 3-1 win at Goodison or the 3-6 defeat at Goodison last season. Just saying 😉

I would only entertain the idea if the managers hadn't changed and the teams were fairly similar if we're talking over multiple seasons (which is unlikely).

    Butland
    Ward Bellerin Toby (Simpson, Moreno)

not sure what to do..but tempted by Kolarov > Sagna! with only 0.5m itb there aren't a lot of options for a second goalkeeper that wouldn't force me to use 2 FT, so think I'll have to sit with these until I wildcard

    Butland - McCarthy
    Kolarov - Alderweireld - Bellerin - Ward - Simpson
De Bruyne - Ozil - Payet - Mahrez - Stanislas
    Aguero - Kane - Lukaku

    2 FT and 0.5m itb

    Gomes
    Simpson - Alder - Cresswell
    Mahrez - Alli - Payet - Ozil/KDB?

Worst chance conversion rate in the Premier League this season:

    Liverpool (6.94%)
    Aston Villa (7.05%)

Rhinos, and this only supports my statement - that is much more difficult to hide match-fixing in football. In tennis it's almost impossible to prove the players' fault.

its exactly the same, no one can prove a spotsman messed up on purpose, its just a part of the puzzle aided by suspicious betting batterns

                      • 8 Years
                      8 years, 4 months ago

Look, in tennis to make sure you get a profit from your match-fixing you simply, being a tennis player, feck up a number of double fauls, or lose a given number of points. You are responsible for your result, so tennis players are more likely to be corrupted as the probability that they succeed is much higher than in football. Because in football you also have involvement of more than 20 other people, who can totally screw your plans.

sorry but that is absolute drivel. There are plenty of simple ways a single footballer could affect a match.
Besides just bevcause a solo sport is easier to manipulate than a team one doesnt mean it is more corrupt. That's a serious leap you are taking

Hello guys haven't been around for a week and haven't watched the highlights of any of the games yet! Looks like most players didn't do very well...

I have no idea, So what should I do with this team?!

    Butland Hennessey
    Bellerin Alderweireld Bertrand Wollscheid Simpson
    KDB Ozil Mahrez Payet Alli
    Lukaku Kane Ighalo

1FT and 6.6 mill in the bank.

    Butland
    Bellerin, Alderweireld, Evans
Payet (v), Ozil, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Alli
    Kane, Aguero (c)

    (Hennessey; Ighalo, Ward, Wollscheid)

    1 FT, £1.7 itb

Think I'll do Hennessey -> Schmeichel because my keepers are out of form and have terrible fixtures this GW.

Can anyone think of a better idea? Cheers.

I am finding it all so Frustrating at the moment. Won as Uruguay and in the Wimbledon comp and generally doing ok but losing TV as people ditch De Bruyne and want Payet but don't see why anyone wants to lose De Bruyne this week! I have decent TV but intended to chase value until last wildcard. Will the first double game week be miles away? I think my issues with TV will end after I use wildcard

If you make decisions based on what other people are doing then you are going to have a bad time.

Thanks all. It's like being talked off a ledge
My plan has always been to ditch De Bruyne for Sanchez only. I will stick to that and hold. My nerves are mainly because big mini league getting tight.

    My-Hen
    Kosc Walker Cresswell Nyom Simpson
    KdB Ozil Mahrez Arnie Alli
    Kun Kane Kaks

    0.4 ITB with 2FT

    Pick one:
    A) Myhill --> Kasper and save FT
    B) Myhill, cresswell --> Kasper, Targett (with a view to get Arnie up to Payet after the City match)
    C) reconsider the benching headache formula I have going on

      A.
Don't think it wise to ditch Cresswell with their fixtures. Also it would make your defence very light.

Would rather take out myhill now, then get rid of kosc/cress next gw(Payet against city), and then get Payet.

So have Leicester turned into a primarily defensive team?

    Mahre-> Payet, or sacrifice Arnie?

Wouldn't get rid of Mahrez before the Villa match

That's what I though, maybe leave it a week then re-assess? I'd probably be missing out on a couple of Payet rises though

Same. Have Antonio and Cresswell already.

I'm playing Mané in his last chance saloon. 2 shots on target + 1 hit the post.

Means I have to bench Ozil or Lukaku and atm Ozil on bench. I have Ramsey and it's Stoke away

Cool, I will be benching ozil as well. You not worried about missing a couple of a payet rises?

Yes of course. Cost 0.1 the other day to do Mané>Payet and now after tonight 0.4 maybe 0.5 tomorrow but I just think Mané could be a big differential this week. That said knowing my luck probably won't even start

Brave, but I can see the logic. Though him and Leicester have not been so attacking recently, Villa is the perfect game

Disastrous two GWs. One free transfer and 0.1 in the bank if anyone has any suggestions.

    Butland - Hennessy

    Ake - Bellerin - Moreno - Ward - Smith

    Mahrez - Ozil - KDB - Arnautovic - Alli

    Kane - Aguero - Lukaku

    KDB / Mahrez / Ozil / Payet / Gosling
