Willian for me. More explosive & creative..
But play deeper than Oscar does.

I'm no Chelsea expert, but I think Willian's game time prospects are better. So I'll say Willian.

I hate the people who were making fun of Chelsea last night on here. PSG were scared of us.

PSG with 16 fouls despite 61% possession.
11 of them in the attacking half.
Chelsea had the ball 23'42" in the game, so that goes back to one PSG foul every one and a half minute of possession.

Good that means they were defending well and aggressively . Not giving space and time that's how I like defending not letting opponents get time on ball , not letting good players come into game or that's how its meant to be .

As a Chelsea fan again (with Maureens departure), thought they played great against a very good side. Willian motm. Its Chelseas tie to win if they can encourage Hazard to take get finger out.

Statistics are useless. If we use Leicester as an example, lower possession, lower shot on target but wins the match.

Same for Southampton against Swansea. Southampton roughly similar like Leicester

Statistics can show Chelsea to be good, but if it is like Everton losing to WBA using stats, then stats are useless.

        • 9 Years

I know I said I was going, but before I do I have to say I completely disagree with your opening statement. The right statistics can be useful. Stats telling you how many pies there are in Leicestershire won't explain Leicester's performance, but there will be stats that do offer clues.

Good argument. My point wasn't clear just now which caused some ambiguity. Statistics are not 'completely' useless and we need to consider external factors such as team play (pictorial dynamics) which the numeric stats arent enough.

PSG was the better side, you can't deny it. Your stat does not mean that PSG were scared but that they were more aggressive. I don't think it is a bad thing in a CL game..

I don't agree that Kane is world class. Decent striker, but stick a lot of players up front with the quality of Alli, Eriksen, Dembele etc. and they would get the same amount of goals. 16 in the prem, 7 from penalties I believe? It's not that impressive...

There are simply too many players better than a lot of the Spurs players in their positions for me to consider the squad "world class". Eriksen (no.10) for example, is inferior to the likes of Ozil, Silva, Gotze and Lloris isnt the level of De Gea, Courtois, Neuer.

For me, the real stars of the team are Dembele and Alli. Dembele does a great job, but world class? Kante does a great job for Leicester but i'm not sure you can consider him world class yet. Alli on the other hand.. he may not be there yet, but he will be. Absolute top drawer player. Oozes class.

I think Ryans comment - "What is better, 1 world class player or 5 star players?" sums it up. Tottenham are just full of star players atm, but not convinced theyd break a World XI.

Only aguero (40) has more goals than kane (37) since the start of last season. This is made even more impressive when you look at Kanes average position- he drops deep so often. I think the argument that he is world class is off his all round play (best striker in the league at it), not just his goalscoring ability.

Although I think my point still stands- he's not world class because of so many incredible strikers out there atm. He will be soon enough though.

Couldn't agree more regarding Kane he has been absolutely sensational since he broke onto the scene can do everything as a striker not a single weakness in his game imo and well on the way to being a top class player

I suppose it depends on your definition of world class. A bit good is enough by the sounds of it πŸ˜€

      Toby I rate highly 9/10
Alli has a lot of POTENTIAL
      Kane is ok 8/10
Eriksen I like but nowhere near world class
LLoris is top notch and bordering WC.

Surprised at how many people are saying Dembele & Toby are world class, was Dembele world class last season or the season before?

1 really good (half) season doesn't make you world class, 3-4 years of consistently being one of the top players in the world makes you world class.

On that basis imo none of them are world class....Lloris has been doing it a while, but personally I dont think he isn't quite at the same standard as the world class keepers.

their challenge is down to both excellent management and quality players but there is a difference between quality and world class players.. a truly world class player would be among the best in their respective position in world football a player who has been tested at the highest level both internationally and at the highest level of the club game ie champions league.. the only player in the spurs squad currently world class imo would be Hugo Lloris.. in another couple of years i reckon we will be talking about Kane Eriksen Toby being in that bracket aswell.. Dier and Alli have been mighty impressive also

Delighted with it, creativity has to be applauded. Bit like the rocket potting the pink to get a 146 break. You have to have a sebse of humour. No way the humourless vain Madrid player would pass a peno chance the way Messi did.

I think O'Sullivan's was slightly different for a couple of reasons: the crowd would have much preferred to see a 147, so it is actually decreasing, not increasing, the entertainment, and also he came across as a bit of a prat basically saying "I don't want £12k" - he could have given it to charity.

Yep, although the money remains up for grabs so it's not like he tossed it away for nobody to have access to - someone always gets it eventually.

A 147 is still pretty rare, it's unlikely anyone will get the 10k (2k is for the highest break).

The £10k rolls over to the next tournament and an extra £5k is put on top. This is why O'Sullivan wasn't sure what the current prize was as it depends how many rollovers there have been. Neil Robertson got £40k for his 147 a few tournaments back because it hadn't been done for a while. Basically O'Sullivan decided to let the pot built up further.

Regardless of whether its Genius or disrespect, I wonder whether it should even be allowed according to the rules. Not that its against the rules in any way but maybe it should be. How can it be considered a fair contest between a striker and goalie if the striker can use a team mate?

High risk except for the fact it completely caught out the goal keeper. They aren't trained to deal with penalties in that fashion and nor should they be. It should be a 1v1 contest, thats what its all about.

The game is constantly evolving, Ryan. You can't expect the game to stand still.

Go back in time and you'll find various playing strategies down the line. 2-3-5 was once a popular formation for instance.

It has nothing to do with what the gk should expect imo. How the opposition get the ball in the net is entirely upto them.

No not really Balders. Whether players encroach as the ball is kicked or saved is irrelevant. There is only split seconds between the two. Messi did not shoot, it was a pass. The ridiculousness of the situation has to determine he shot it when clearly he didn't.

It might be only a split second but in the interest of clear rule making, it makes a difference.

As it is, Messi missed his shot and Suarez scored in open play. So if you're not in favour of the open play timing being changed, would you redefine the rule that the shot must reach the keeper/goaline?

Not entirely sure how to define it Balders but I don't believe the Messi/Suarez penalty should be allowed and the rules should be clearer if they want it to be a 1v1 contest which presumably they do.

There are so many instances in the game where players do the "unexpected" and this is just one of them.
The penalty may well have been designed to be a 1 v 1 contest (although we don't know this) but the rules allow for alternative methods of scoring from a penalty kick so as far as Messi's penalty is concerned, we should applaud their ingenuity and risk taking. Just as we would for other forms of dead ball creativity.

I think it's still fair because the defenders still have a possibility to reach it. Yes the team mate will know that he's getting the ball, but the defenders should also be aware instead of just standing on the edge of the box with their hands on their waist, like a lot do.

The same could be said about set pieces though.

If a team works out a routine that they think will confuse/beat the other team/keeper is that unfair? because they've outsmarted them.

A penalty is completely different to a set piece because its designed to be a 1v1 situation

Same principal though. There's no rule saying that you have to shoot, only that the ball has to be touched.

I agree that there is no rule prohibiting the action which is why the goal stood. I'm suggesting that there should be because in my opinion a penalty should only be a 1v1 situation.

I didn't previously know the rule, but would have thought that maybe the ball should have to touch an opposition player or the goal frame before a team-mate could legally touch it.

I'm guessing the referee knows the rules but I agree with you and it would be an easy rule to amend. I guess the rule makers never saw this situation happening.

Definitely, especially if your main gripe is that the defending team couldn't reasonably be expected to anticipate it currently. Everybody doing it = defence prepared.

Also, if it was extremely easy to execute and increased the chances of success everybody would already do it - the fact is it's a riskier technique that looks ridiculous if you mess it up (see Pires/Henry)

For me a penalty is between a striker and a goalie. A pure 1v1 situation, thats what its designed to be and anything outside that is not right in my view.

Fair enough, I'm in the other camp - if the attacking team wants to increase the risk fluffing a penalty for the sake of a simpler shot on goal that's their decision to take πŸ™‚

I didn't like it tbh. If he wanted to give Suarez the hattrick, shouldve just given him the pen. That pen was unfair on the keeper. It's kind of like permitting the shoe flick pen.

I think genius is too far, but I don't believe it's disrespectful at all. Football is entertainment, and that was entertaining. Also, they scored, so what is the debate? It was probably the way for them to maximise their scoring potential, so no complaints there.

If you think a team is so good that they are taking the p*ss, that's your problem for not being good enough. It's up to you to stop them playing that way, you can't take your ball home because the bigger boys aren't going easy on you.

    Forster Hennessey
    VVD Koscielny Daniels Simpson Alder

    Simpson suspended and Koscielny flagged.

I don't think Hazard was ever truly world class but that's an unpopular opinion, he was the focal point for a great team and he really is a fantastic dribbler, but he always had the tendency to disappear for 45 minutes..

    Butland / Bunn
    Williams / Monreal / Toby / Daniels / Targett
    Mahrez / Sanchez / Antonio / Firmino / Alli
    Kun / Kane / Vardy

    Anything worth a -4? 2.9 ITB

I really want on this bandwagon, but I want to see if he has a GW30 fixture first.

Firmino is gone this week, and I'm really feeling uninspired by Arnie

Sanchez can be good captaincy option in GW 28. I'd at least keep till then.

Massive call, solid green there so VS.
I had it down to Lukaku,Aguero-Kane crossed my mind but not over Kun.
I didn't trust Payet this week if I'm honest, well played.

Reason I went with that was also because previous week there was a very good argument for Firmino, and I was actualyl advocating to otehrs that they should, but didn't go with it and put armband on Kane who got 2. So decided to actually go with the differential.

Policy is to go with Captain poll/Sensible when there is a clear cut outstanding captain, too much to lose if the standout does something noteworthy, but when opinions are spread it's worth going the differnential because you have less to lose, but more to gain.

Good policy mate, something I'll consider next time. I lost my lead in a mini this week to 'one of your kind', you'll never guess who he (c)?

But then you don't need the word fancy in front of it. by saying it's a fancy Bentley rather than a normal Bentley it implys there is something different about it to a normal Bentley.

So, we (Liverpool) concede far fewer shots in the box than any other team, and we still can't keep a clean sheet!? (Villa excepted).

I haven't looked at their stats and would depend who the opposition was. But suspect that woudl try to squeeze both into team and sacrifice elsewhere.

But we aren't eactly comparing 2 upstanding respectful individuals. One bites people and the other allededly has dodgy finacial dealings.

Do they give out BAPS for skill moves or taking players on?? If that was the case I'd go with Neymar, but otherwise Suarez.

Even though I'd probably have Messi over both and it would be impossible to afford all 3

Both and save money in defence early season, while build team value in midfield with the fast value risers, then second half of season, you can afford better defence, better mids but still own both.

Dont watch a lot of La Liga, so cant say much bout Neymar. But from what i've seen about Suarez, he has proved himself in PL as well as LaLiga, almost carried L'pool single handedly to title in 13/14 season. Can Neymar do that? Not sure. So, I'd pick definitely pick Suarez anyday.

Oh gawd, absolutely love Suarez and what he did in the PL and what he's still doing in La Liga, but right now Neymar because he just runs at right backs all day and nobody has really shown they can stop him. Just because of the way they line up Suarez is more replaceable than Neymar.
