This was the Gameweek where the veterans and top 10,000 teams aligned. There are now barely any differentials between them. In addition, this was a week where both the veterans and these top placed managers once again smashed the overall ranks. One key factor in this hive mind between the top and most experienced managers is that following the recent blank Gameweeks the veterans are beginning to replace the less experienced ones in the top 10,000.

The 34 veterans I’m tracking, who are made up of FFScout contributors and moderators, Hall of Fame toppers and former Fantasy Premier League winners, are on the march to the top, but need to do more to unseat many of those new and inexperienced managers still in the top 10,000.

TRANSFERS

Transfers by positions (% of all transfers in bracket)

– Goalkeepers: (5.00%)

– Defenders: (60.00%)

– Midfielders: (25.00%)

– Forwards: (10.00%)

It seems that veterans were happy with their squads – they made only 0.59 transfers per team. Vincent Kompany‘s injury was the main reason why defenders transfers were the most popular in Gameweek 31.

Transfers In:

Ashley Williams (SWA): 14.71%

– Romelu Lukaku (EVE): 5.88%

– Craig Dawson (WBA): 5.88%

Swansea kept a clean sheet against Aston Villa and Ashley Williams, after two bonus points, now has 23 bonus points this season (top among all defenders). He was a savvy buy for the Fantasy stalwarts this week.

Transfers Out:

– Vincent Kompany (MCI): 17.65%

– Virgil Van Dijk (SOT): 5.88%

– Jamie Vardy (LEI): 5.88%

CAPTAINS

kavgwk11

Harry Kane played a part in all three of Tottenham’s goals in a home win against Bournemouth. He was by far, the most popular captain choice among the veterans but also overall and amongst top 10,000 teams as well. More differential choices will be needed if the veterans are to take a distinct advantage.

MOST POPULAR PLAYERS

(Top starting players)

* stats for top 10,000 teams and overall can be found here.

Eleven of 16 of the most popular players amongst the veterans scored five or more FPL points in Gameweek 31. It was the same story when we look at the top starting players in the top 10,000 teams.

OVERALL RANKINGS

After Gameweek 30, the average overall position of all 34 veteran teams was 57,251, but now, their overall position is 47,165. This is their highest overall position so far in the season and 10,008 places better than last week. Among the veterans  94.12% gained a green arrow in Gameweek 31. In addition, the veterans’ average Gameweek 31 score was 81.38 points, way up on the overall average (55.90 points) and also better than the top 10,000 managers’ average (75.60 points).

Thanks for submitting. the double Gameweeks look set to smash the template - but will the veterans or the top 10K newbies prevail?

Two articles from now, percentages for veteran's most popular players will certainly change. But how much will %'s change for top 10,000 managers, almost half of them already used their WC?

Woah that Siggy ownership by the vets is huge. No wonder all of FFS has been overtaking me in recent weeks even as I get baby green arrows myself!

Yes thank you for your condescension.

I was interested in Balders' post in the scolling side panel of recent comments and suspected it was on an FFS post, not a community article, as I didn't see there was a new one.

Next time I will be less enthusiastic.

Can't wait to see the veterans wildcard DGWK template in GWK 33 and 34. Anticipating make or break differences with the top 10K, many of which have already cashed in their chips.

Depending on whether they're actually wildcarding in GW33.

Not everyone in the top 10k will be wildcarding for DGW34.

47.40% managers in the top 10k already used their WC

That's what I mean. Many vets will wildcard so there teams will be different from the top 10K. Many in the top 10K can't wildcard as they've already used it. Same with chips. Many in the top 10K are there because they've already used them earlier.

I also will be interested to know if any of them used their WC in GW32. It will be good insight into using our WCs 😉

Me too. Right now, probably because of the blanks in GW30, it seems that everyone has the same players.

Looking forward to toasting his inclusion in my team with a nice cup of tea and very plain digestive biscuit.

Milner is this DGW's milk and two sugars kind of transfer. He's on penalties. Lest we forget.

I have been marching towards the top 10K over the last few weeks so this review of players and percentage ownership is really useful!! With the templates of players so similar these DGW and blanks are going to be critical. Can't wait to see the GW34 figures!

BTW, feature request. Any chance of adding stats with the use of the chips for top 10k? Would be nice to know who has TC and BB, as well as when they use it.

I will from GW 33 to the end. In gw 31 (and before) some of the vets used All out attack but I don't think that's interesting so I didn't mention. I will put a table for chips in every article from GWs 33-38.

So 10 names out of a possible 27 appear in that attacking players ownership list. That tells us everything we need to know about this season.

I think i may be the exception to those 'veterans' above!
10/15 of those players but with a slightly better OR of 640 😉
Excellent post, love these statistics based datum articles,
    Thanks Kavali.
