Fantasy Chili Bowl – Week One

Welcome to the latest update from the FFScout Community’s newest team contest, the Fantasy Chili Bowl (FCB). Here we will update you on the group draw, fixture list and squad selection as we look ahead to this weekend’s first matches.

THE DRAW

The draw took place in a grungy room at the weekend to decide who was in what conference, with the results as follows (captains names in brackets):

Conference A: Miami Magicians (Neenyg), Los Angeles Vipers (Goldman), San Antonio Ravers (Az), Boston Hawks (Jonjo Shall_We?), Washington DC Presidents (Cheese), New Orleans Contes (Jazz!)

Conference B: Austin Powers (Ronhaar), Chicago Bull Sitters (Mr Calm), Mississippi Hillbillies (Adam West), Phoenix Philistines (Kingozil), Cleveland Steamers (BabyB), Philadelphia Sentrymen (Narcos)

Conference C: San Francisco Bulls Deep (Le God), Las Vegas Lemmings (Kings of Lyon), San Jose Holebas (Spectrum), San Diego Casuals (Tets McGee), Seattle Salad Dodgers (Athletico Timbo), New York Tommy Guns (Siddharth)

Conference D: Jacksonville Jamaicans (Lateriser12), Albuquerque Shaolin (KJ), Waikiki Beach Raiders (Cylus11), Utah Polygamists (Say Something Significant), Denver DoesDallas (Shipstontrev), Indianapolis House of Pancakes (Pirlo’s Pen)

Conference B has been widely regarded as the “group of death”, but with just two to qualify from each conference, this competition is going to be tough for everyone.

THE SQUADS AND THE FIXTURE LISTS

Please see this spreadsheet for details of all the squads (with links to each players FPL history) and fixtures. Thanks to Ziro for building this bad boy.

Side Orders

Further previews and nuggets of information will be posted within the comments throughout the week, but the important things to know are as follows:

  • Captains must email the FCB mailbox (fantasychilibowl@gmail.com) with their decision on which two players they are benching this week before the deadline of 11:59pm UK time on Friday night.  11:59pm UK time on the night before the FPL deadline will be the deadline each week.
  • Remember this is a FFS community competition and we expect all teams to have some presence within the comments on these articles.  If we see some teams not participating on this front, we will start enforcing rules to ensure this does happen.  With reference to the rule regarding FFS registration has been clear from the outset, and we are taking this rule seriously.  It is up to the captains to ensure that all players are eligible according to the rules, and if they aren’t by the weekend we will be banning these players from the competition without debate.
  • The full rules can be found here  – this includes details of the all-star game, and other individual/team awards.

If you have any further queries, feel free to ask below in the comments or email us at: fantasychilibowl@gmail.com

As a final request, please do try and keep the FCB chat to the comment sections of our articles.

On behalf of the FCB committee (Jarvish, BabyB, Ziro, Adam West and Cheese)

Going into the final game we are 26 points ahead after autosubs.
      Our 7 vs Power's 9.
      Match seems like a 0:0.
Then it will be 225-239 in our favour. Bonus points could decide the game.
      Still close.
      Powers Sentrymen
      0 Brunt 1

Based on my calculations after tonight's match... which I think are right! And with same players cancelled out...

Miami Magicians have 117 points and have 2x Foster
    vs
San Antonio Ravers have 151 points and have 2x Heaton and a Brunt

Think this is in the bag Ravers!

Not a single Costa on show for either team...I also regret benching Gro who has and played Anichebe!

Looks like we are only 4th overall then, oh well.

Musa came on late to deny me Capoue's 10 points.

He really was the worst transfer ever. First I missed out on qualifying for the FFS cup by 1 point because I got him over Austin, then this ... he really needs to leave my team ASAP.

      Definitely.

Conference D is wide open. I'd have picked Jacksonville and Denver as the pre-tournament favourites to qualify, and both are currently losing. Still a long way to go though.

Looking forward to our trip to Hawaii next week.

With thanks to Cylus11 - (c) of Waikiki Beach Raiders, who pointed out that the Differentials Sheet had been counting Van Aanholt in two separate instances, the problem was in the way the name was being 'processed' as it is a two-word name with a space in-between.

I have made corrections, so that the names are now displayed as VanAanholt, DeRoon for example. Also, the GW12 was hardcoded in the formulae previously so I've rectified that and the total_team_points will now update to any GW you input.

If you have used this sheet earlier by "saving a copy" please delete your saved copy of the sheet and use the below corrected sheet:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16awBDiuiEL8pm4-ej75Zy1Ys0v_9lbaDVkEag84aXlo/edit?usp=sharing

The instructions for using it are:
    1. First, make a personal copy using the 'File' menu options (this will enable you to edit the cells)
    2. Enter the GW no. in the blue-coloured cell on top.
    3. Enter the FPL IDs of your 6 team members and the 6 IDs of the opponents'.
    4. The sheet picks up the live FPL points of the players on each refresh, and the total for the team is displayed in green.

    ***********************************************************************************************************************

At the same time, we understand the captains will want to scout their opponents for next week prior to the deadline to maybe help in your benching decisions, so we have made a sheet which will help in displaying the FPL players of all 8 of the opposing teams. This sheet does not have any points updates as this is purely for scouting purposes for the next week. You can find this sheet in the below link:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oCPZi6n1wMmBFQTGi7ejQPJClYVn0peIs2KIxA4fEo4/edit?usp=sharing

Instructions are the same as the previous sheet.

    Happy Scouting!

Up in the Rocky Mountains, Indianapolis are looking to be in a strong position but they are not over the line yet.

    Indianapolis: 36 points + 2 x Heaton + Brunt
    --vs--
    Denver: Foster + McAuley + Evans + 2 x Fletcher.

WBA 2-0 Burnley, with their players scoring, could snatch this for Denver.

Hawks leading by 22 points. Yes, 22! With 2 Heatons and a McAuley to our 4 Fosters + an Evans.

    Monday Evening, after the GW:
    New Orleans Contes, 213 points.
    Boston Hawks, 212 points.

Yes, we won by a single point. All odds against us.

          I am confused.

Talented japanese mofos is in reference to team Shaolin?

          But Shaolin is chinese ...

I like the way the small geographical error is focussed on more than being called "mofos" 😉

Good win to start Alberquerque - nice to see you guys on the boards as well, and all the best for the rest of the competition 🙂

Shaolins are from china. Ninjas are from Japan.
All the best to all and a big thanks to the FFS team.

On behalf of Philadelphia Sentrymen, hard luck to Austin Powers. You guys ran us close and we are sure you will do well in this tournament. Best of luck for the rest of the tournament.

Mississippi Hillbillies, you are guys are next in line for a beating 😉

Congratulations on the victory. It ended up fairly close, but you were the better team in the end. Good luck in the rest of the tournament.

Good Luck for the rest of the tournament. You guys profited massive from some real differential picks like Mata Son and lucky to have Capoue with a 10 come of the bench.
