Fantasy Euros U21 Launches

The Under-21 Euros are starting  but while UEFA has let us down this year with no game our Polish friends are doing a good job covering.

An English version of the Polish Fantasy game for the event can be found here, where you can also find more details about the rules and scoring system.

In addition, a FFScout league has been created (code: 575933631).

The tournament is played in Poland and will have 12 teams competing from June 16-30. Teams are divided into three groups of four, with the group winners and the best runner up progressing to the semi-finals.

The deadline for initial selection of squads will be June 16, 5pm UK time, which is also the kick-off of first game, Sweden v England.

A quick glance through the rules tells us that we have unlimited transfers between each round, which means that bench cover is not very important, as long as you try to pick nailed players.

Players earn two points for winning a match so you want to be targeting big teams, while adding a few cheaper players from smaller teams to stay inside your budget.

Selecting your squad

As always U21 squads change a lot with players getting promoted to the national teams. Some teams have got their big stars back for this tournament, so predicting lineups for the first games can be a bit tricky.

Goalkeepers

Stoppers earn minus points for goals conceded and don’t earn any save points so going safe with a goalkeeper from one of the big teams is advisable. Gianluigi Donnarumma (9m, Italy) is priced very highly so instead perhaps consider Julian Pollersbeck (7.5m, Germany) or Everton bound Jordan Pickford (7m, England). Portugal’s goalkeepers have a big gap in price so there could be a potential bargain there, but without confirmation of their number 1 it may be best to wait.

Defenders

Defenders also earn minus points for goals conceded, but get four points for an assist. This has been noticed by many and it is no surprise that Hector Bellerin (8m, Spain) is the most popular defender. Other targets include two experienced attacking right-backs who have both also played as wingers for their clubs this season, Joao Cancelo (8m, Portugal) and Andrea Conti (7.5m, Italy). For other defenders look out for tonight’s England XI to see if any of the cheaper players get a start.

Midfielders

The highest priced midfielders include Saul Niguez (9.5m, Spain) and Renato Sanchez (9m, Portugal), who are very well-known but play in a deep midfield role and are not known for their scoring. Marco Asensio (9m, Spain) and Serge Gnabry (8.5m, Germany) are classified as midfielders but expected to play as wingers so may be better options.  Also consider Lewis Baker (England, 7.5m) and Portuguese duo Bruno Fernandes (8.5m) and Joao Carvalho (7.5m).

Strikers

There is already a template attacking trio forming with Gerard Deulofeu (8.5m, Spain), Davie Selke (8.5m, Germany) and Patrik Schick (4.5m, Czech). All of these players did very well in qualifiers and are expected to continue where they left off. If you call yourself a maverick and want something different, then look for the two Italian Serie A big hitters, Federico Bernardeschi (8.5m) and Domenico Berardi (8m). Neither has an impressive record in the U21 but coming from one of the toughest leagues in Europe to play with kids, could mean a lot of points. England’s Tammy Abraham (6.5m), who is a loan target for both Newcastle and Brighton, could be another budget option if he starts tonight.

Here is a link to an earlier hot topic where you can find more information to help you with your selection,

I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on all different foreign websites for late news on lineups.

So with all the talk of prices away which I blv was healthy as it is a feedback and will help the owners make even better game next time 🙂

But for this game I have to say with all its ifs and buts I have thoroughly the enjoyed this game and I think everybody has enjoyed it when we needed something to fill our fantasy addictions 😉 and Thanks for making this game's English Variant. Its been a Pleasure and the credit should be due where it is too.

We only argue with whom we love you know 😉

Thanks Tom and Party (From all of us) 😀

Yes. We are a very vocal community who give a lot of feedback (often negative which is just the human nature but sometimes positive too) because we are passionate and care about this but in the end we'll keep playing and take on the challenge of making a team, while appreciating the job Tom, Carl and others behind the scenes are doing.

Shambles of a game. Multiple teams allowed, you aren't just competing against x amount of opponents but also their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th teams. Some might say 'you could also make 5 teams' but let's be honest, the average player doesn't have time or energy to maintain 5 different teams. So just from the onset the game isn't a level playing field which is a horrible way to start any game.

Hitting 'confirm changes' doesn't confirm the changes. You've got to confirm the confirmation for the confirmation to be confirmed. Makes totally sense.

What on earth is the point of having a bench if subs only are positional? You might have a decent defender on the bench but he won't come on because your non-starter is a midfielder. Would have been much better if the budget was 85m for 11 players only, at least that would have ruled out fluky subs points.

Keepers costing 8m+ in a game where the budget is 100m for 15 players. Not only that but they don't get save points. Just goes to show that the developers of this game have zero fantasy awareness. On top of that they push the price of a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER up from 7m to 7.5m before the final. Well done.

Fair enough it was a free game and fair play to the Tom guy who has been answering questions on here but let's call a spade a spade. It wasn't a good game. Got lured into joining this time but won't be joining B-grade fantasy sites again.

Harsh but true also. Was good enough for a two week game for me in the middle of the summer, but there is room for improvement.

        Point by point:
        1) 5 teams allowed for one manager, it is how we play in Poland. We got used to it. If we allowed having only 1 team per manager, we would have got many questions 'how many accounts can I have?'. But personally I am also thinking about reducing this number...
        2) Confirming works always, unlike remembering about it. However we will improve that, I've got some ideas.
        3) Actually I also like the 'fluent' bench, but we haven't implemented it yet because it's quite a lot of changing the software code. But we will do it.
        4) Until this edition we've been hearing that we are too soft in pricing. As a fantasy manager I always liked difficult fantasy games. Maybe this point of view influenced me too much this time. We will take it into account for future editions.

As a summary I want to say one thing: FPL has 15 (more?) years of experiences and many software (and not only) developers. Our B-grade fantasy game was built in 1 year by 1 person (meanwhile having full-time regular job). And people had fun. 'Yesterday' we didn't exist and 'today' we have 1,5k all over the world patricipants with generally positive feedback. Step by step, step by step...

Spain have been very clinical and scoring some amazing goals so if they have an off day it could be possible. Germany couldn't defend set pieces against England, but that's not Spain's strength and Stark should be back. Toljan's offensive runs were big part of the England game, but with Ceballos and (mainly) Asensio on the left, he might just have to sit back.

Looks like it could be Phillip up front to have more movement there, with Weiser as more defensive option on the right wing to help Toljan.

      Realistically 2/3-1 to Spain.

See guys? This is an outcome we had in our minds 🙂

Similar thing happened during Euro 2016 final gameweek. Best teams went all France with mostly captain Griezmann, while teams from the peleton went all Portugal, because they had nothing to lose. Most lucky ones with captain Eder made about 50 points to the top in one match and easily won the whole game. All effort of the lead and their good decisions in previous 6 gameweeks became irrelevant – they went down hundreds of positions in just one match. Honestly, it was simply dumb.

Of course match could have ended with draw but let be honest - in final no one really counts on that (and even if it does, it’s not eliminating potential problem).

With the finals like that fantasy becomes a casino roulette. It's only red or black. Everyone is 50/50, the lead must play safe option, the peleton plays all in. But with high difficulty budget we avoided that scenario. Both german-themed teams were awarded with big rank-ups, and the lead teams were able to fight until the end. Single personal decisions were the ones which decided it all. That’s what fantasy should be about, right? 😉

Thank you all for playing and your effort. Making the game for international contestants is new experience for us and we will try our best to find perfect balance between playing habits of all the communities and improve our game in the future.

    Cheers

Yeah, this is exactly why I much prefer league based Fantasy games to tournament based ones.

That being said though, I have to say thank you for the great effort you made in turning your game into an english version making it doable for us on here to take part and play your game. It completely worked as a UEFA Fantasy replacement for me, and I really enjoyed it throughout - even though I wasn't that big a fan of the finals budget 😀

Again, thank you, and good luck with your game(s) in the future!
