It seems that every Fantasy Football manager in the land is seeking counsel.

Sergio Aguero’s 20-points has caused joy and consternation – mainly the latter – and we’re all in need of reassurance and solutions. 

The ScoutCast crew are no different.

Granville, Jonty, Andy and Az join me in searching for answers, thankful for the opportunity to bounce ideas and opinion. 

Contrary to popular thinking, among the noise and chatter, we do arrive at a tentative conclusion.

All but one of us are willing to bend to Sergio’s surge in points and popularity or fall for Pep’s potential plot. We’re abstaining on the Aguero option for now and, over this 90 minutes, we’ll tell you just why.

Aguero dominates, but we have ample time to entertain other community questions, discussing Harry Kane’s latest failings, the premium defenders that warrant our trust and our cash, while Jonty is itching to take us through his handpicked bonus magnet XI.

    Bony worth a punt? Struggling at that price bracket. Big question around whether he can still cut it in the PL but he's got some pedigree at least.

            Don't support a team. Not committed enough to one, and none of em have resonated with me in any way. I like watching the Warriors because I love 3 pt shots, I also like the Spurs...but don't have a favorite team. I just like watching the sport.

      I've looked, problem is the team is far too unbalanced and would need major surgery if you get an injury or a premium midfielder starts firing

      Very similar to my situation and I'm considering Willian & Stephens out for Ritchie and Kolasinac for a hit. Not tempted to get Aguero in? I also thought getting rid of Kane and Stephens for Aguero and Kola..but probably better stick to that earlier plan.

    right I've gone and done it, Kane to aguero.
    even if it's just for a couple of GWs I can change back, and if he scores on Saturday there'll probably be a couple of price rises in the mix.

    no matter which way I went I'd be watching one game through my fingers and now it'll be the spurs game

      the tipping point for me was when I looked through the other teams in my ML. a lot of casuals all have lukaku and only one has Kane and only one with aguero

      so if I've messed up it won't damage me too badly

    I'd like to have all of these: Jones, Otamendi, Kolasinac and Davies. Which 2 or possibly 3 with Jones I should take? 6.0 for Arsenal defender seems too much but those fixtures.... Currently on a WC.

      Kolasinac gets well forward so if you going arsenal defender, it has to be him especially if you can do it on your Wild Card. Personal preference would be Davies next

        Disagree. Mustafi and Monreal are well worth 5.4m. Kolasinac is good but he's not the only valid Arsenal defender when there's an 0.6m premium involved.

        Same with Alonso. Azpi + 0.6m is also valid. If people weren't so (falsely) obsessed with WBs they would recognise this.

        Anyway, on the OP... not Davies. Rose is reportedly expected back available in GW8 and when he is there will be rotation in that position for Spurs. Personally I'd prefer Alderweireld if you want a Spurs defender.

        Jones looks great but how nailed is he? There are reasons why he and Bailly have been preferred for PL but will it remain so? I doubt it myself. Otamendi is a similar case but should at least be pretty safe in the absence of Kompany.

        People are generally assuming that the 6 weeks of the season so far indicate what we can expect in terms of rotation pressures. They don't. It gets more demanding from here on in, especially from mid-November onwards.

        To answer the OP, I'd probably take Otamendi and Kolasinac right now of those. But I'd expect to have to use some FTs in future to refresh the premium defender slots.

          Thats fair comment. Not sure monreal mustafi are going to be as much of an attacking threat. For 0.6 more, id go for a player who can earn points both side of the pitch. Davies may be rotation prone in a few weeks but thats a possible 2-3 gameweeks of fair fixtures for a defender who is again well forward and I feel is enough time to reassess, Why the wingbacks are important fr me is because they do have a genuine threat of assist maybe goals. In a game where there are not many decent mid priced mids consistently performing, getting 6 mil players that can get points both sides of the pitch seems a better investment. Well thats my logic anyway. I was never one to spend big in defence but with the systems changing, have to adapt to the times - for now

            Mustafi and Monreal certainly don't have as much attacking threat. But Mustafi is well capable of 2 goals over the season and if he gets them then Kolasinac will struggle to justify a 0.6m premium. Meanwhile Monreal is the best of the 3 on baseline BPS and will likely get more BPs than the other two.

            I guess it's a question of how you value 0.6m. To me that's approximately 19 points over the season or 0.5 points per week. Kolasinac is clearly the preference, price aside. But with an 0.6m it's much closer. Which is why I'd say all 3 options are valid. 🙂

          Yes, it's going to be a tough call. I might even go for a 4-man backline. I'm more than worried that Davies might rest one of the next 3 PL games even when Rose is still out. Same goes for Kola and Otamendi though but they're more likely to feature in all of those.

          Monreal vs Kola is also interesting. Monreal is usually a decent BPS magnet when playing with 3 CBs, but now that Arsenal will face a bit easier opponents, I think Kolas crosses etc. might give him a boost in BPS too, so the 0.6 premium might be worth it anyway.
