FPL Rate My Team Surgery with five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman

With Double Gameweek 36 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) nearing, five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman is here to help with your pre-deadline dilemmas for the next hour.

Whether it’s questions on Solly March (£5.3m) replacements, Alexander Isak (£7.0m) v Callum Wilson (£7.1m), captaincy or anything in between, Scout’s Deputy Editor will tackle whatever’s thrown at him.

Tom will be on hand to first reply to requests from Premium Members in the Hot Topic below the line of this piece and will get through as many as he can until the next article goes up. If there’s time, Tom will also turn his attention to other requests in the comments section.

If you’d like to receive an email notification letting you know when future RMT Surgery’s are live, you can now do so. When editing your profile, under ‘Alerts & Notifications‘, you’ll find a section on ‘Email Notifications‘. In there is an option for ‘Rate My Team Surgery‘, check that box and you will receive an email letting you know when the surgery is about to go live.

You can, as ever, chip in with your own opinions on the RMT requests filtering through – and naturally, you’re free to ignore the article subject matter and talk about any other wider FPL topics that you’d normally be musing on.

Don’t forget that, if it’s an algorithmic answer you’re after rather than an opinion-based one, we also have a ‘Rate My Team’ tool available in the Premium Members Area.

Wilson or TAA vs. Wilson and TAA?

    Rest of the squad:

    Raya (De Gea)
    Estupinan Schar Trippier (Akanji)
    Mahrez Gakpo Odegaard Bruno F.
    Haaland (Solanke)

Maybe remove Schar and leave TAA + Wilson in.

    A or B?

    A) March & Rashford > MacAllister & Odegard/Martinelli (would bench Stones and Grealish)

    B) March & Alisson > MacAllister & Steele (would play Pope this week but Steele next week for his double. Would bench Stones. Risk of Grealish being benched by Pep)

Enciso will come in for Rashford.

Rashy, either starts or doesn’t play

      1. Bennerman

What is this logic I keep seeing people repeating, Rashford will either 'start or not play at all'?

It's perfectly conceivable he could be deemed fit enough only to make the bench, therefore able to make a substitute appearance.

Not sure why it's being promulgated here, as if a cast-iron fact, as one or the other: start or not in squad.

        1. JBG
          • 6 Years

I think it's because he's way too important for MU attack, specially this season. So either he will start or not.

          1. Bennerman
            • 6 Years
            1 year, 5 months ago

But why would his importance to the attack mean he wouldn't come on if we was named as a sub?

Surely his importance to the attack WOULD mean he would come on if he was named as a sub?

Yup. They could decide that with his reduced fitness he's only fit to do about 20 minutes, and only put him on for 20 minutes if they need him late in the game. It's a worry for sure.

Was considering the swap for March, but apart from the penalty against United, I think MacAllister has blanked against all the top six sides this season.

Ranked 160k right now which is poor for me so would like to go for a punt. What do you think about Willock in general or as a captain? Seems to be nailed on for near 90 both games and has had great numbers recently.

    Salah Mitoma Rashford Grealish

Hi - I have a forward line of Alvarez, Haaland, Ferguson. No one I really want to move for Isak/Wilson
Do I move on Ferguson for one or just punt on a NEW/BHA mid (I need to replace March too)
    Thanks

Is Wilson/Isak worth a hit here? Considering I already have a benching headache with Watkins/Gakpo and whoever I get might not even start both games?

    Kepa
    Trippier (c) - Schar - Estupinan
    Odegaard - Martinelli - Foden - Mitoma - Gakpo
    Kane - Haaland

    Neto - Watkins - Mings - Mee

Teams an absolute shambles. Any ideas? Looking to bring in a couple Newcastle players and don't mind going for some differentials, and also swapping March/Rashford. Will probably have to take -4 or -8.

    Steele
    TAA - Robbo - Dias - Lindelof
    KDB - Salah - Rashford* - March* - Mitoma
    Haaland

    Iverson - Bueno - Greenwood - Taylor

    2FT - $0.1ITB

Also have a very weak bench.

Thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, it's a tough one, and it's the weak bench that means you do really need to act given the news about March and Rashford. But two FTs is good so don't despair, not a shambles at all!

My own reasonably conservative inclination would be to use Robbo to free up some cash to use to replace March. So for instance Robbo to Tripps should allow you to do March to Mac A for free. It gets you two near-guaranteed doublers who are also their team's set-piece/penalty takers, respectively and should also be good for DGW37 and GW38 too. And protects you from any hauls. Means you can then still play Rashford in the hope he does actually play, and if he doesn't then you'll probably get a point from one of your bench.

You could then take a hit to move Rashford out if you really wanted to, perhaps for Foden for the punt.

I guess the alternative would be to predict KDB gets rested, as many have, and make him the cashcow for other moves, maybe Bruno in ready for DGW37 spread the remaining money out to replace March (for Foden?)
