The ScoutCast – Episode Eighty Five – Kolarluv

Aleks Kolarov is a legend around these parts. Two seasons ago I backed the Serbian to shine, only to be left eggy faced as he City man huffed and puffed without impact. Now he’s back and this time it’s personal.

Having crashed the party with a 20-point haul in his last Etihad encounter, Kolarov is being lined up for a start this weekend and even Granville’s taking notice. Having ridiculed my affections for the player and gloried in his failings, the Mancunian has got himself a crush and he’s struggling to fight it off.

This week’s ScoutCast features a lot of Kolarlove, along with the supporting cast of regulars as Granville steals a mini-league march and starts to sound cocky.

Listen in on the Serbian swooning via this link, or stream the episode via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    which is the best option

    a) keep lambert and pray he plays

    b) switch to BA for a hit and keep for newc good run

    c) switch to defoe for a hit for two weeks then shift to BA

    d) switch to tevez for a hit and captain him then switch to BA in two weeks

I'm super tempted to sell Lambert for Ba for a hit and then boot Ben Arfa next week for Oscar. But if I hold firm with Lambert I could get Mata instead. I think I'm going to stick with Lambert for now. He should start most weeks, he's only been benched 2 out of 8 and Southampton's fixtures look pretty kind.

Thoughts on getting a Norwich defender? Was surprised looking at their stats for goals conceded. 2 cleansheets which is good given their fixtures so far. 12 goals conceded, but 9 were to Liverpool and Chelsea.

Decent fixtures now till GW 18 bar weeks 12 and 13. Need to replace Demel, so any other alternatives are welcome. Maximum i'm willing to stretch to is 4.5m.

Russel Martin is a good option at 4.4 (I think) he has the additional upside of assist potential. I don't know much about their defence to make any definitive statements. Turner is 4.2 but tbh he has been the culprit for some of their hammerings so I'm not sure if it's wise to consider him yet as he's also a rotation risk. I fancy getting a Norwich defender too at some point...I feel they are actually quite stubborn at the back despite those ridiculous results against Che/LIV/FUL. I think they're quite boring and likely to get some surprise CS as a result as they frustrate opposition rather than outplay them. If a 4.0 option becomes clear I think I'd jump on board.

I also think Hughton's style perhaps directly contrasts Lamberts who doesn't seem too bothered about keeping it tight. And Norwich need to slowly adapt to keep themselves adrift.

if you don't have Begovic get Wilson

For that price the other options are Cuellar, Lowton or a Norwich boy. The most nailed on appear to be Martin or Garrido. But if you fancy a punt, you could try Bassong

I will indeed. I think Snodgrass could become an option later on for me. I noticed that Norwich's run in is very favourable, especially home matches. They have a rotten first half of games this year...they seem to have awful runs of playing the top teams in a row. Although there is a small gap right now...could see Snodgrass doing well in it.

Risers: None! Berba, Ba and McCarthy rising too slowly. Very modest transfers in today.

Fallers: Rangel, Vaz Te, Bertrand, Siggy (possibly)

Will check progress of transfers at midnight and issue final projections then to be safe, but it's all very slow activity right now.

You think Gervinho will start this week? Can't decide whether to keep him or ditch him to fund getting Aguero.

I don't see him at CF. RW rivals are Walcott and Ramsey. Could double check if ox is recovered yet or not as he could be a third rival. Unfortunately Walcotts contract standoff could force him to the bench. I'd say Gervinho is more likely not to play, but it's uncertain.

I don't see Gervinho prospects that rosy anyway, you'd need to get rid sometime.

      Good.

The masses here have thought my team was good for the last few weeks and it's done bloody awful.

      Let the points roll in.

I think the most frustrating thing about fantasy football is that when you look at your team before the matches start you can see every defender getting a CS and every forward and midfield performing. It normally only takes 20mins before it all goes wrong.

Subjective I know, but IMO if you compare this year's FPL with last year's, there is more variety in teams, more strategies and it is more difficult! I'm loving it!

As we discussed in preseason, the variance of player prices was somewhat reduced making more alternatives possible for a given budget.

    A. Cole and Pienaar - Wilson and Bale. Would give me:

    Foster (Federici)
    Wilson Bale Hangeland (Cuellar, Demel)
Bale (c) Mata Cazorla Sterling (kaca)
    RVP Tevez Berba
