Monitor – Robin Van Persie

Having opened the season with a double in the Community Shield win over Wigan, Robin Van Persie’s brace in the Gameweek 1 win at Swansea suggested we were in for yet another year of consistent goalscoring. What has followed, however, has been highly unexpected and as United struggle to settle under David Moyes, the Dutchman has a single converted spot-kick to his name in the last six Gameweeks.

A hat-trick for Holland against Hungary last week saw Van Persie become his nation’s all-time top goalscorer and suggested his eye for goal was as keen as ever – with this in mind, we delve into the data to assess just what sort of impact Moyes’ arrival has made on the Fantasy heavyweight.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    My team is:

    Migs - Lewis
    Vidic - Coleman - Clyne - Zab - Dawson
    Michu - Ramsey - Ozil - Brady - JWP
    Suarez - Lukaku - Giroud

    Should I:
    1) Zab -> Ivanovic/Terry OR
    2) Zab + Brady -> Rosenoir/Faye + Oscar
    3) Do nothing

    Interesting question (I hope)

I'm on a wc. I will get tonight the double raise from JZ.
I can change him tomorrow, for Oscar or amalfitano, bank the 0.1 and almost surely get a double raise from Oscar (who is already on 97 percent for the first raise).

Should I do it? Can I get another double raise from JZ (including saturday)? Is he worth keeping as a fifth mid for a couple of weeks til Brady is back?

Not sure I fully get the strategy (considering Oscar in the same breath as Amalfitano/JZ/Brady is confusing me, just due to the price difference), but I think its worth cashing in on januzaj. I don't see him being a great long-term asset, especially if you're on your WC, you'll want to minimize future transfers

I'm stumped as to what to do with my free transfer(s) this week so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I want to bring in Walcott once he's back and I'm prepared to downgrade a defender to fund it.
Doubts remain over Lampard and Eriksson but this doesn't seem like the week to be losing The former and I would be happy to keep Eriksson until he becomes Walcott.

    Migs/Marshal
    Coleman/Vidic/Mert/Walker/Baker
    Michu/Lampard/Erikssen/Barkley/Brady
    Rooney/Sturridge/Giroud

0.6 in bank, 2 free transfers

the shape your team is in then i would save the free tranfers for this week! cant see much wrong with your team for this gw. 3 FT next week will be handy. and you could easily do a walcott move then.

im doing the same. im planning to wait and trade rooney out for benteke (might change my mind but i need tekkers).. and free up funds for a midfield upgrade

Thanks for all the input...I might, for the first time ever, lose a free transfer (you can't save more than 2).
I'm happy with my team overall, especially the starting 11 this week so it comes down to the lesser of these options, ditch Lamps, ditch Erikssen, ditch transfer...the last one def has the least potential to punish me and I'll still have 2 frees next week.

Still think he'd play a bit.. We're lacking some creativity with Santi, AOC, Walcott and possibly Rosciky all out. Not the right time to risk the lead.

Chelsea's fixtures are worse. They got Cardiff, i know, but after that they travel to Schalke 04, and then they face City. I expect a lot of tinkering.

Yeah not yet. But if the others continue to stumble he could well find himself first choice striker at Chelsea. And we know how much Mourinho loves midfielders haha

I think he'd start against Cardiff. Chelsea have to travel to Schalke 3 days later, and they face City next. Surely Mour would keep his starters for the bigger games.

All 3 of Schurrle, Mata and Oscar are coming back on great form, but Oscar traveled the furthest and could be overused. I reckon Mata will start this one.

Oscar owners, you have been warned.

It's good to have him, but CHE's midfield is still a minefield to me. I think he is Mour's favorite No. 10, so you should just pray that Mata won't steal much gametime from him.

Yeah I'll probably bail if that starts happening. Had zero chelsea without him (need to bring in a defender) and he's been solid so far. Absolute minefield is right.

Started 4 of the last 5 league games for us. Also started the CL game against Steau. Didn't start the Basel game where we lost.

He's the type of winger that falls back all the time, and Mourinho has a certain love for these kind of wingers. I expect him to keep his place in and around the first team a lot. Just that he sometimes starts on the Right Wing and still somehow ends up on the left. I am tempted anyway.

    Which WC-team do you prefer?

    A)
    Mignolet - Davies
    Coleman - Chico - Clyne - Terry - Ward
    Oscar - RAMSEY - Michu - Yaya - Amalfitano
    Lukaku - Benteke - STURRIDGE

    B)
    Mignolet - Davies
    Coleman - Chico - Clyne - Terry - Ward
    Oscar - MORRISON - Michu - Yaya - Amalfitano
    Lukaku - Benteke - SUAREZ

NO need to mention you're whole team if it's down to 2 players. B has no Arsenal and I think Ramsey will offer a better starter than Morrison or Amalfitano. So probably A for me.

      Should've asked:-

      A. Rambo & Studge
      B. Ravel & Suarez

I'd go A because it has an Arsenal player & Studge is playing centrally. I'd downgrade Amalfitano to Ravel and save the cash for future fix (Wally, Rangel, etc.)

Ah gotcha. I would get oscar long term but not this week. Don't think it's worth an 8pt hit now but it could work out if you want Suarez and SIlva or someone longterm.

Frankly I'd rather be worried that Suarez might get a hatrick and I don't have him rather than

Suarez needs to get a hat trick because I have him -8.

Frankly, I would say he is someone who will Schurrle get minutes all around. Mourinho likes him, he tracks back better than any of our Attacking midfielders, and that is exactly the reason why he finds himself on the starting sheet. Mourinho was really impressed by his performance against Steau in the CL. 4 goals in 2 games for Germany should also have a positive effect on him..

Morning all, just a quick one...

I was looking forward to the next two GWs as a Wally owner and was even considering double Arsenal attack, hence Giroud coming into my thoughts.

There seems to be a consensus that he is rubbish and not worth getting when the likes of Benteke, Lukaku, Studge and Suarez are available.

Anyone care to elaborate? It seems his ability hasn't stopped him being the second highest scoring striker in FPL. Being pretty much the only viable option for a striker at Arsenal, he is without a doubt nailed-on, and will continue to get goals IMO.

I currently have Studge, Lambert (mun, FUL, swa) and Soldado (vil, HUL, eve) and I'm aiming to shift the last two for Giroud/Lukaku/Benteke. Which move should I do first?

Doubt very highly he'll start against Tottenham. But I'll be doing Rooney > Benteke for GW11 onwards... Villa's fixtures look tasty! Best of luck

Somehow think that if I am selling Lambert at all, this week is the best week (United away), although United aren't in the best defensive form!

Soldado is a risk to start the next one so I guess I should cut my losses on him and sell.
