Monitor – Robin Van Persie

Having opened the season with a double in the Community Shield win over Wigan, Robin Van Persie’s brace in the Gameweek 1 win at Swansea suggested we were in for yet another year of consistent goalscoring. What has followed, however, has been highly unexpected and as United struggle to settle under David Moyes, the Dutchman has a single converted spot-kick to his name in the last six Gameweeks.

Pretty comfortable with my team but would like to find some cash. Was thinking about Schurrle in for Lampard. Schurrle's numbers in the final 3rd are better than Lampard's. It's a gamble but Schurrle seems to be a Mourinho favorite. Or is there a better option than Lampard at under 7.5 on another team that you all like?

      Perhaps. I'm not even a massive Oscar fan - though I have him. Beyond Michu and Walcott I see little value in premium mids this season. Oh - Mirallas could turn it around of course.

      My problem with P.Hernandez is he is always injured and Swansea are so inconsistent in terms of their attack. Ramires, for me, flatters to deceive. Always has chances that he never seems to convert. Schurrle is a real punt, but I think Lampard has been awfully deep this year - not attacking the box as much as in the past.

    I have thought about Giaccherini and Cabaye as a rotation for Lampard/Jedinak (my 5th mid). I think Sunderland have looked pretty good the last 2 weeks despite getting waxed by Arsenal and Liverpool. Like you say, I should probably save it and keep Lampard for this week home v. Cardiff.

      Yeah. Lamps is dependable in a way. When he plays he often scores. That said, I've had my fill of him this year I think. From Sunderland: have half an eye on Celustka still, if Sun can get their backline in order. He's attacking. But Giaccherini the biggest threat I think.

        Giaccherini is definitely on my watchlist. I've seen Sunderland's last 2 games and he has been their danger-man. I think Sunderland are going to climb the table under Poyet. I feel you need a rotation candidate with Giaccherini though, so I would have to look at potential rotation candidates like Cabaye. I currently have McGregor/Harper and was thinking about Westwood as a rotation partner with McGregor.

        Is Cabaye back in the team? I don't understand what's going on at Newcastle. Could be a good idea though. Mind you, Sunderland/Hull/Cardiff seemed to rotate well. I set up that way GW1 but sold Altidore eventually. Maybe worth a revisit...(with Brady and Whittingham).

  tough one. i'll go with Barkley cause he's playing at home and against Hull, and United are still strong at home if you look at all the games other than the Wet Brom's loss.
